Summary: More enjoyable in Director's cut
Review: I found the DVD to be crisp and not look like a 14 year old film. The additions of the flashbacks during the opening wrestling scenes as well as giving "history" to Rachel and the saying "it's a kind of magic" brought some things together as well.

I found the sound and quality to be excellent, and though I am somewhat positively jaded by love of this film and the storyline, I still can objectively say that it is very well done both in the film itself and the DVD upgraded version.

Summary: The Immortal Scotsmen battle for the gathering.
Review: Connor Mcleod, is a French voiced Scottish Immortal warrior who has lived for centuries. and gone through civilaztions. Connor in the year 1986 in New York is forced to combat a old immortal enemy called the gorgon, to battle for the gathering, where there can only be one.

Summary: ok movie
Review: The movie "Highlander" wasn't really a good movie. It wasn't bad, but the only reason I saw it was the soundtrack, done by Queen. I wouldn't go out and recommend it to everyone, but I won't say watching it was a waste of time. But at times I found it hard to pay attention. It took a long time to develop.

Summary: this movie takes the cake
Review: THIS MOVIE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIES EVER MADE. CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT IS AN AWESOME CONNER MACLEOD. SEAN CONNERY GIVES A GREAT PERFORMANCE AS WELL. BUT WHAT MAKES THIS MOVIE GREAT IS THE CONCEPT. IMMORTALS LIVING UNTIL THERE HEAD IS CUT OFF. THE BAD GUY IS REALLY BAD TOO. A MUST-HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES MOVIES. OH YEAH, QUEEN ROCKS.

Summary: Some of the best Cinematography ever!
Review: The origional was smooth, sleek and showed a chemistry rarely seen in lower budget films much less big block busters. Now a cult classic, fans will be amazed at how a movie thought to be complete and already outstanding could get even better. The additional scenes make it flow even better than before, and fill out small "holes" in the story line. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Summary: Exciting, but flawed.
Review: I first saw this film in 1987 and found it to be a great combination medieval battle/fantasy/New York action movie. And I saw it in England with the extra WWII scene where MacLeod saves a little girl (his future secretary) in Nazi-occupied France; I'm glad to hear that scene has been added back in for the director's cut version. As much as I'm enthralled by this film, it is flawed: the Queen soundtrack is great for the 20th century scenes, but is anachronistic in the flashback scenes (notably when "Who Wants to Live Forever" is played when Heather ages); the Kurgan is a great villain for most of the film, right up there with Darth Vader and the first "Die Hard" villain, but then he becomes as scary as Curly of "The Three Stooges" as he gets sillier and sillier. The biggest flaw: The Immortals have been fighting each other for centuries because there can be only one who can receive The Prize. Well, when we find out what The Prize is (I won't say what it is for those who haven't seen this film), I for one found it lame.

Summary: Great movie. TERRIBLE transfer to DVD!!
Review: This is a great movie. The music, the transitions, the fighting, the chicks; it's great. But when I bought the DVD version, I was truly disappointed. It must MPEG Layer-1 encoded because the artifacts are glaring and the picture quality is awful! Don't buy this movie on DVD!!!!

Summary: Good movie, poor DVD
Review: It's been said before about this transfer: the movie is good, but the DVD is bad. I don't share the opinion that the director's cut ruined the movie. The first scene in Madison Square Garden is botched now, and there is an added WWII scene that explains something that doesn't need explaining, but other than that, it's the same movie. The DVD transfer; however, is less than good. The picture is grainy and the sound is muffled. Perhaps it would have been better in 6 channel surround rather than stereo, but I don't think so. I've not looked, but if the VHS is cheaper than the DVD, buy that instead.

Summary: For an old movie, The Highlander is excellent
Review: I've seen this movie at least ten times and can probably quote all of it. The plot is great. Lambert makes an incredible performance of someone who has lived through all of history. You can see what effects time have had on him. I wonder where they found the actor who played Kurgen? He was a really interresting character. One more thing; Queen rocks!
