Review: And i thought it couldn't get any worse than "The Phantom Menace." Boy, was I wrong! ... In Attack of the Clones, Lucas emphasises Anakin's rebellious streak in the most tactless, overdone way imagineable. I mean, the [guy] has to argue and "rebel" about everything, as if the audience would not realise the future Vader's personality unless there were arguments between Kenobi and Anakin in practically every scene...

Summary: Take my Jar Jar please!
Review: Thank God Lucas either got a ghost writer for this one or heard the public outcry against that poorly disguised racial slur, Jar Jar Binks. He is barely seen in this one, except for a small pivotal scene. Which leaves Lucas to concentrate on the more important issues of plot and charecter development. What the Phatom Menace lacked, this is a stunning film that moves the Star Wars saga along nicely...... while having the power to be a stand alone film. Dark undertones are the precusor to things yet to come in episode three, and sets up that film nicely while exploring the charecters with greater depth and giving them a real sense of why and who they will become.

Summary: A step up from Phantom Menace, not quite Empire Strikes Back
Review: Episode II suffers from some very poor acting, for which I took off one star. Maybe jedis and senators are supposed to talk in monotone. But I couldn't stand it. The movie suffers from bad "romance" scenes, for which I took off a second star.But I'm letting it go with a passing grade, because this was altogether a good movie, putting the series back on track. The politics are more dramatic and Jar Jar is restrained. Ironically, a good scene combines both Jar Jar and the Senate, when Jar Jar proposes awarding the Chancellor supreme powers. The action is very watchable, and Yoda is great. I'm not a hardcore Star Wars fan, but this movie reflects some of the series' best elements. It remains to be seen whether Episode III, which Lucas promised would be dark, can possibly match Episode V.

Summary: Like a kid again
Review: I can't for the life of me figure out why so many people dislike the prequels. I guess SW is a victim of its own success. Had the originals never come out I'm sure people would've been looking at the complexity, grandeur, and mythological scope of these new movies. But oh well what can you do. *Now for the actual review*:
I totally feel like a kid the entire time in this movie. From Coruscant to "I don't like sand" (a classic funny moment IMO), to eeriely beautiful Kamino, to the crazy conclusion..I was smiling like a geek the whole time.
For me there is only one main flaw in the movie, and that's the change of pacing from Tatooine to Geonosis. I mean you go from the sadness of Tatooine, to the action of Geonosis in a split second..and that sort of botches up Padme's confession scene before the Arena. It's still a powerful scene but could it have been even better had they slowed it down? But that's the only flaw to me...I geniunely liked the Naboo love scenes that everyone bashes. For me the cheesiness is part of the charm of these movies.
And the acting - Ewan McGregor is totally consistent in his acting as always; I wasn't so sure about Hayden but then he blew me away in the 'confession' scene..I never thought such intense acting was possible in a cheesy old SW movie. Finally we see the elusive main character of SW being fleshed out - an incredibly tough character to portray, and Hayden does a great job. Natalie..well, she's there. (Let's hope she gets more to work with in the last film.) Some other high points: The use of color. Gone is the bright, sunny world of Episode I. As the story darkens, so do the visuals. Lucas is a visual filmmaker and it shows - there are tons of those ominous blood-red sunsets, especially coming down to the end.
- I love the way 'Duel of the Fates' was used in this movie. Even though it's just for a few seconds, it has a more powerful effect than when it was used in Episode I. There's so much more good points, but I won't drone... Finally, the movie is so well balanced - never once do I get bored..whether it be a political scene, romantic scene , Tatooine (the best part of the movie!), or the very lengthy action sequence at the end. I've seen it on DVD multiple times and I have yet to get bored..very few movies can accomplish that feat for me.
It's obvious Lucas worked very hard to please the fans. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but giving this film a one star rating is insane. So much went into it. Lucas himself said that these prequels don't have the swashbuckling action of the first three, but then, they're not meant to. He wanted them to be slower, more Machavellian and plot oriented. He wanted them to be a 'grey area', where it's difficult to tell the good guys from the bad (unkile the originals). So he hasn't lost it, the guy knows what he's doing. Let's just say that if you're looking for the 'original trilogy feel' be prepared to be disappointed because these movies are different. No doubt great SW films, but definitely different. But putting everything else aside, this movie is pure fun - like being a kid again. I might ruffle some feathers when I say this is right behind 'Empire Strikes Back' as the best one (and if Anakin is your favourite character, then this is the best one).

Review: Ok, seriously does George Lucas actually think he can make good movies anymore? Both Episode I&II have to be the biggest let down to anyone who is/was a fan of the originals and a let down to anyone that has taste in good cinema. It amazes me that Lucas made 3 of the best movies ever (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) with barely any money, but give him an unlimited budget and he makes the worst movies ever (Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones)...go figure! My advice...SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

Summary: Good review from Wash
Review: I loved the orginial triology and thought that "Empire Strikes Back" was a great movie simpily because the "bad guys" win in the end. When I saw Episode I, I nearly gave up on the "Star Wars" movie series. The whole movie was just special effects. No compelling story, stupid characters (ie Jar-Jar) and a boring plot. It is clear that Lucas has "sold out" and designed the movie for kids and the toy industry. I was hoping Episode II would be better. The good news, it is. The bad news, just barely. While the special effects were awesome, the story was awful. Again, the movie was designed so that Lucas could sell toys and video games. First off, anyone who has seen the original triology, can see major holes and errors in the story. For example, in Star Wars "A New Hope" 3-PO and R2 claim they have never been on Tatoonie, and have never me Owen Lars, Obi-Wan, or anyone named Skywalker. Yet in this movie (which takes place before "A New Hope,") 3-PO, and R2 visit Tatoonie, meet Owen Lars and Obi-Wan, and 3-PO was built by Anakin Skywalker. That's just one of the many holes. The love story needed to be a lot shorter and the casting was really bad. The actor playing Anakin Skywalker came off as a whiney little boy, who by the end I wished would disappear. Sentor Amadala had no personnality and was about as stiff as some of the droids in the film. The one good actor was Ewan McGregor, who I feel has gotten the Obi-Wan character down pat. Let's face it, its Star Wars, so you will probably buy it anyway, but don't pay more than 12 bucks. Buy a previously viewed copy at Blockbuster. Maybe Lucas will get the message if we protest with our wallets. But since he seems to only be interested in raking in the money from toy, video game, and related products, probably not.

Summary: Okay... it was bad
Review: I am a big fan of star wars, call me crazy if you want, but this movie was just plain bad. It's to hard to follow the plot you just sort of try to jump in now and then. This is a big disapointment, I am wondering how episode three will turn out. And, hey, thats a big part of the tie between the Anikan trilogy and the Luke triology.

Review: The fact that Jar Jar Binx isn't in this movie is the ONLY saving grace.
Shame on George Lucas for taking a great series and ruining it. Both movies need a story line, actors that can act, and characters that the watcher can care even a little bit about.
It isn't all about special affects. A writer and director would be nice for these movies also.

Review: George Lucas has done it again and came up with another great movie.This movie is better then the first because it has a lot more action in it. I own it on dvd and I watch it a lot. I like all of his star wars movies.
