Rating: Summary: absolute magic Review: I love movies, and this is my absolute favorite of all time. I've read the trilogy many times, and was honestly expecting not to like the movie as much. But this film blew me away...the characters were impeccably cast, the special effects gripping, the attention to detail throughout is dazzling, and though the story doesn't follow the book to the letter, it perfectly maintains the spirit of Tolkien's trilogy. This film is so utterly engrossing you hate to see it end; I have seen it many times already, and it just keeps getting better. It not only makes you believe in heroes, it makes you want to be one...
Rating: Summary: A movie to rule all Review: This movie had everything a fantasy was suppose to have. Obviously one of the great movies of it's time (and surpassing the nonimaginative and terrible Harry Potter movie), this film includes terrific acting from everybody and visual effects that match the tone and mode of the story (not over or underdone). A great movie that eveyone should see.
Rating: Summary: Simply The Best....... Review: The best fantasy film I have ever seen (and I have seen it 3 times now). Really looking forward to The Two Towers this year.
Rating: Summary: Repetitive and Repetitive... Review: ... My eyes rolled in disbelief--not so much for the movie as they did for Tolkein's work itself. The enemy warriors have THE WORST AIM EVER when trying to kill the small band of heroes (a fellowship of nine, also needlessly explained). The first 45 minutes were interesting. The landscape of New Zealand was beautiful. The hobbit village was pretty cool, and quaint. Loved Bilbo's house. But then the movie dissolved into repetitive scenes of running and fighting, running and fighting, running and fighting with evil warriors who cannot seem to shoot straight. And do we need to have modern catch-phrases injected into the dialogue? That really bugs me. I think that they should have tried to improve on the trilogy by cutting out all this tripe. I don't miss the songs. Good heavens, if they had left in the songs it would be THE dullest semi-musical ever produced. When a story goes on too long, that is not a sign of good writing. And just because a story is old, doesn't mean it is great. It was archaic and long-winded to begin with. I would say that the movie is successful in duplicating the yawn-inducing pacing. An expensive movie, certainly, but that doesn't make a good movie. Was it just me or did those CGI effects look kind of silly? This movie made me want to rent a copy of the Bakshi animated film disaster of the same story--it was more fun to watch (and just to check if some of the footage hadn't been lifted for the new movie). Okay, the best magic/action scene was when the river turned into running horses, but I think I'd rather wait until all three movies are released onto DVD. Maybe then I will rent them.

Rating: Summary: The Ring's Legend shall live on. Review: I believe that this movie was wonderful. The were scenes from the book that were not in the film, but when you have a book as great as the Lord of the Rings. You try to get in the important stuff. And that's what Peter Jackson did. To me he brought the story to life. And all the actors were excellent as well. My hat goes off to Elijah Wood,Ian McKellen,Viggo Mortensen, and Sean Astin they all made me feel like the charaters were right there with me. But then I also would have to give praise to: Orlando Bloom,Billy Boyd,Liv Tyler, Dominic Monaghan, and the many, many others. They all truly did a wonderful jobs in showing the struggle that each character has too go through. I will not lie I sat three hours and 20 min about three times. If you have not seen this movie I say go now. Because it will take you on a wonderful adventure.
Rating: Summary: Addicted to the movie Review: I haven't gone back to a movie this many times ever in my life. Can't wait 'til the video comes out this summer (I hope). Action, romance, adventure, and takes the best from the book. Skips most of the slowest parts of the book, but you don't miss them (unless you really liked the poetry of Tolkien).

I am a huge fan of the books and of tolkien. Not only has the movie done Tolkien justice,it has done justice to the art of filmmaking. Everything within this movie was perfect!
