Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: Really...One of my all-time favorites (up there with the SW series, Shawshank Redemption and Braveheart).Of course it's not as good as the book (rarely films that are seen after the books really are). Still, I can't recommend it highly enough, an epic translation of the first part(well, if you don't count The Hobbit as a prequel) of the greatest book series ever. Peter Jackson does a great directing job(a little surprising considering his past films), the cast is perfect for their roles(especially Ian Mckellen as Gandalf), the action is epic, effects are amazing yet blend with the film... A must-buy, simple as that. One note though: Most fans already know this, but just in case, they're coming with 4 and 5-disc versions in November, which will have, among other exclusives, thirty extra minutes of film. Something to take note of if you don't wanna buy two versions. Personally I think it's great enough to own both the theatrical and extended versions though...

Review: This is a very welll done movie. The graphics are great and it is enjoyable! My little brothers (who are 3 and 4) have seen this movie as well as I have. They watched the whole thing!

Summary: Stunning!
Review: I've seen the DVD (Academy screening copy) on a large HDTV set and this is a must have DVD when it comes out for general release. The cinematography is beautiful, the sets and art direction are both stunning, the acting and directing is superb, the music is compelling and the story is very deep...all great reasons to purchase the DVD and watch it many times. I never was a Hobbit/Lord of the Rings fan but now I can't wait for the second and third installment to hit the theaters. Get it!

Summary: TORTURE!!!
Review: What is wrong with that director! This movie is the worst movie to come out since BABE, PIG IN THE CITY! Seriously, I didn't stay in the theatre for more than three minutes after the movie began. The kid was a pretty good actor as far as I could tell. It was way too weird. I couldn't follow it at all. When they started torturing the small dude in the cauldron, I just walked out of the theatre. AND the theatre gave me a complete refund.
I'm sorry if I'm the only one who hated the movie. But this is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. I don't really like Harry Potter either anymore, but I'd definitely pass of a chance to see Lord of the Rings for the HP movie any day!

Summary: Wonderful and true enough to the book.
Review: I love the books and read them at least once every two years. I enjoyed this movie thoroughly. I went to the theater three times to see it and I've pre-ordered both editions of the DVD. Actually I'm almost as excited about the Special Extended Edition as I was about the theatrical release. I eagerly anticipated it for over a year. Kudos to all involved in the making of these movies. The result was fabulous. You have boldly gone where no one dared and astutely shot all three movies in one continous effort (Are you paying attention Mr. Lucas?). Brilliant! None of you need put other entries in your curriculi. It was time someone showed Hollywood the proper way to adapt a classic. I understand that to bring such a richly described story down to an acceptable duration for a theater session certain sacrifices had to be made. So I'll miss Tom Bombadil, time in Lothlorien was too short (it was fine but I would have liked more). Some events were oversimplified but it had to be done for the sake of time. I understand the need for this. The only thing I did not like was that Aragorn seemed timid, unsure about his destiny. I prefered his unwavering determination to seize his birthright; how he waits patiently, yearning for the time when he'll need to face unsurmountable odds to right an ancestor's folly. I find the books' Aragorn much more interesting. I suspect this was done to develop the love story a bit more than the book and the movie appealing to a broader audience. I can live with that. Don't take my rant too seriously. I found the movie incredible. And there were a lot of very pleasant surprises. The movie was superbly cast, all the roles. Sir Ian McKellen is Gandalf and I was pleased to see Christopher Lee in the role of Saruman. The special effects were masterfully used, as they needed to be, bringing that magical and complex Tolkien world to the screen. This movie ranks way up there with Lawrence of Arabia and 2001 A Space Odyssey. I love it, this is the type of film that stretches the ratings to 8 stars, 5 stars don't even begin to do it justice. Once again, thank you very much Jackson and company.

Summary: Brilliant! It truly stands alone from the text.
Review: Having read the entire work years ago (as well as The Silmarillion) and several times since, I always dreamt that there could be a visual to compliment such fertile text. My fear was that any attempt made would be as hackneyed and disappointing as Ralph Bakshi's animated version from 1979. It's a double-edged sword putting a classic book like this to film. Fortunately, my worst fears were allayed with Peter Jackson's triumphant direction and screenplay. Not only has he given us a piece of work that stands as a masterpiece of classic and epic film, he has given us a film that can stand alone from the written work. All of the characters were truly made real. The actors playing their roles never once allow you to think that they are just there to cash a paycheck. The film is perfectly cast and I was truly immersed in middle-earth and loved it. The necessary changes in the screenplay from the book are numerous but truly only the nit-picky can gripe. The role of Glorfindel is replaced by Arwen and Tom Bombadil is completely missing but I didn't miss them. The pace of the story and the continuity of characters really leaves you breathless by the closing credits. It never felt like a 3-hour movie. It felt much shorter. For those of you who never read the books, I can only say that you have truly robbed yourself of a great work, however, I do know many, many people who have also not read it and still loved the film as much as I did. As I said, the film really stands alone from the book. My only regret is that I have to wait an entire year between Acts II (The Two Towers) and III (The Return of the King). The hype surrounding these films is well deserved and I am more than pleased to have a film to share with my children that compliments a book so perfectly. Highly recommended.

Review: Out of 1-5, I give this 10! Wait,I can't do that can I? Well, I ask you to purchase this movie, for your own good. This world would be a much better place if everyone watched this movie. After watching it, you will most likely be a changed person. Although many ajustments are made from the book, it has the same feel, the same magic that is cast upon you by the book, yet it has a bit more. The casting is amasing, Frodo, whom is played wonderfully by Elijah Wood, stays true to his character, he has high hopes in times of peril. And Sam shows great loyalty to his character as well. Heck, everyone does. It just has the right kind of feel that makes their life, your life. It puts you into the story, this movie IS life, the only difference is that these characters are the kinda of people that everyone should be, and no one is. And the evil Saruman, and the horrid Ring Wraiths, are the kind of bad guys you love to hate. I know it's long, but I think it should be longer. If you don't pay attention it can be really boring, but why would you watch a movie to not pay attention to it? The only thing I truly miss from the book is Tom Bombadil,but that would add another hour to the film, and I know that few people that like long movies as much as I do. And lastly, do not judge me by my age,I am a living breathing human being like you(Hopefully).

Summary: Another point of veiw
Review: J.R.R Tolkien was a Catholic man. If you look at this movie from a Christian point of veiw you will see much more than just a good movie. Look at Frodo and how his situation resembles that of Christ. He had a heavy burden to bear but he was willing to sacrifice himself to save the rest of the world by destroying the RING {or the certain death of sin}. Such a little thing it's not a big deal. But as it takes control it is a big deal! The Orcs and goblins were another form of sin. Sam is the reflection of the human race. He is struggling to follow Frodo {or Christ}through the extreme sacrifices of doing what is best for you and others even though it's not fun. Merry and Pippin are also our reflection. Aragorn is sort of like the Holy Spirit. He is their wise guide and is also a king. Perhaps, Gandalf is their concience and their strength.
This was a wonderful movie with or without a Christian point of veiw. It is well made and there is nothing bad in it except ugliness. I really reccommend it. Now any Christian parents who were wary about letting their children see this can tell them to look for these great examples of strength in intergity towards God.
