Summary: A Must See Classic
Review: "Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne in the Lands of Mordor where the shadow lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them in the Land of Mordor where the shadow lie." This movie is a must see classic. It has great acting (except for frodo), wonderful story, and sweet action. This movie is most certainly my favorite movie. I have read the book, it also is a classic, and the movie stays true to the book. The thing is though, at the end of the movie it jumps from the end of the Fellowship of the Ring to the begining of the Two Towers book, but it is still easy to follow along. The One Ring falls in the hands of Frodo and Gandalf the Grey (he's a wizzard) tells him to bring it to the Prancing Pony and he will meet them (the hobbits, Pippin, Merry, Sam) there. Things don't turn out so well for Gandalf and they meet Strider (Aragorn) and he starts leading them to Rivendell. But on the way they meet som trouble. They run into the Nazugul, or Ringwriaths, beings of darkness, clothed all in black. They have no visible face. There in Rivendell the hobbits meet Gandalf and the Fellowship is created. Gimli the Dwarf, Legoles the Elf, Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Boromir, Pippin, Merry, Sam, and Frodo. From there they try to go over some mountains, but Saruman, who betrayes the good side, tries to bring down the mountain. That doesn't work so the Fellowship goes through the mines of Moria. In Balin's Tomb, inside Moria, they meet some Orcs. There is a ferousios battle between many orcs, and the Fellowship. It has to be the best battle scene in the movie. Then they get overwhelmed by too many Orcs, and they flee. Then a couple thousand Orcs surrond them but get scared by a demon from the shadow, a Balrog. Gandalf and the Balrog have a showdown, and Gandalf wins. Well, sort of. The Balrog pulls him down into the shadows with him. Gandalf falls, and the Fellowship flees. Then they meet up with the kind Elves in Lorien, then head towards Mordor (which is where they need to go to destroy the ring) by going down the Great River. They hit the banks, and are attacked by Orcs. The Fellowship is broken here, and Sam and Frodo go on thier own towards Mordor to destroy the Ring. Boromir falls, trying to protect the other two hobbits, and the hobbits get captured. Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas go after the Orcs to get back Merry and Pippin, the hobbits. That is where the movie ends. It is a great five star masterpiece and a must see. No movie collection is complete without it. I'm sure we all thank Peter Jackson for this wonderful movie.

Review: Seeing this caused me to re-read the book for the first time since I was much younger. Its very well done and more or less follows the big. The effects are great, and I am looking forward to the extras that will come with the expanded version.

Summary: Brilliant movie, astonishing detail
Review: This one is a masterpiece. I've read the trilogy multiple times and was hopeful but not expectant that the movie would convey the story in an effective way. Well... I was blown away. Years of hard work by talented, dedicated people paid off in a majestic, beautiful production. As the extra features of the DVD make clear, the passion of the director, actors, and engineers for Tolkien's creation exceeded anything I could have hoped for from what is ultimately a business whose primary purpose is to make a profit. Bravo!...

Summary: Best Sci-Fi in quite some time
Review: A trully astonishing movie on an epic setting, tastefully done with tremendous acting, special effects, and directing. This will probably become a beloved classic for quite some time.
One of the recurring themes was how each actor pegged their roles. For example, Sir Ian could have easily overacted and ruined the entire movie. But he made Gandalf seem human and real. Trully remarkable.Enjoy this wonderful film!

Review: Tolkien's classic is reborn in a spectacular movie of epic proportions in the start of a trilogy. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings brings Tolkien's beloved literary classic to life with scenes of sheer beauty and darkness. You are invited to view the mystery of the deep caves and the spectacular wide open spaces in New Zealand. Breathtaking! The special effects are amazing in this movie. There is a dragon that appears from a firework display. How creative. Now, those are what I call fireworks. At the entrance to the Mines a menacing creature that is a cross between a giant octopus and a squid attacks the Fellowship and threatens their mission. A huge flock of black birds was also completely computer generated. The tower of Orthanc and the fiery mines of Isengard where Saruman is building an Army "worthy of Melkor" seem to be the breeding place of evil. In this ultimate fantasy land, you meet the inhabitants of Middle-earth. The wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood) fight a terrifying war against evil. From the eire screams as the faceless Ring Wraiths approach on their pitch black steeds to the absolute horror of being dragged into hell by a dragon-like demon, this movie displays the threat of evil in a way that makes the mission to destroy the ring even more intense. The Fellowship of the ring is a band of characters who realize it is their mission to defeat evil. The "Fellowship of the Ring" tries to destroy a powerful ring forged by the Dark Lord Sauron in the first of Mount Doom to control all other rings. He seeks the 'Ruling Ring' as the key to unlimited power, and final domination of Middle-earth. It brings out a fierce hunger for power and definitely has evil intentions. If ever an object had a mind of its own, the ring does. It wants to make its way back to the original source and it has the power to rule the world. As they struggle towards land of Mordor and do battle with various creatures almost as evil as Sauron. When Gollum, the pitiful creature first discovers the great Ring (his "Precious") he lives in dark places under the earth possessed by the ring which wants to be found by its original owner. Frodo's uncle Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) find and then relinquishes the ring to his nephew Frodo and leaves to stay with the Elves. Gandalf advises Frodo to leave with the ring immediately as the evil Ring Wraiths are fast approaching. As Frodo and his friends escape they plan to meet Gandalf at the Prancing Pony Inn. Frodo also has to recover from the wound inflicted by the Morgul blade of the chief Ringwraith and without assistance he could have changed into one of the faceless creatures. At the end, the hobbit Frodo (Elijah Wood) did capture my heart (hard to resist those dreamy eyes streaming with tears, enough to bring out the mothering instinct in any woman) when you witness the "promise" scene. He just seems so deep in thought that you want to know what he is thinking of doing next. This is a serious war between "good" and "evil." Although, it seems "good" also gains power from magic. This is definitely a movie to watch in October because it does have some elements of horror. Yes, I look forward to the "Two Towers", mostly for the special effects and to know what happens next. Summary: A visual delight.....
Review: Putting faces on the characters about which I have read over and over again was a revelation; giving substance and form to buildings and places that I and millions have often imagined took courage and imagination beyond that which I possess. I gladly admit that the film's creators gave some a better face than I had fancied and made places more wonderful or more horrible than I had dreamed, and fittingly so. Visually, the movie was a great success to me...but... Although intellectually I know not every incident in the novel can possibly be included in a screenplay, and not every detail can remain true to the original manuscript, some omissions and liberties taken greatly disappointed me. For instance, I can understand not actually introducing Farmer Maggot and his family. The plot rolled along quite smoothly without them. The absence of Tom Bombadill and the hobbits' plight on the Barrow Downs on the way to Rivendell left a great hole in the young hobbits education, and omitted the device by which each is armed with a weapon capable of contesting the evil they will eventually encounter, in this movie and in the following entries. Don't get me started on transforming Arwen into a warrior and substituting her for the elf-lord Glorfindel just so she would have a bigger part in the first movie. I was so annoyed by this outrageous change of personality and character, I didn't enjoy the first viewing. Word(s)of advice to the Tolkien fan: Don't overexpect. Just watch and enjoy the feast for the eyes. Don't let the few flaws in character and plot lessen the impact of the amazing "Last Battle" sequence when Isildur takes the one ring, or the incredible visualizations of Hobbiton, Rivendell, Lothlorien, Khazad-dum, and Isengard.

Review: First of all, if you are looking to work out your home theater system, this will certainly do that! I really enjoyed this movie and can't wait to see what happens next. As a child, I used to devour books with this theme. This movie was everything I every imagined and more. I thought the special effects were fantastic. Also, it is a good movie that you can enjoy with your children or grandchildren. Mine certainly enjoyed it!

Review: I loved this movie. If you are a fan of the books, be prepared for some cuts to both characters and humor. Yet, the movie stands on its feet and succeeds. Great time with beautiful special effects.

Review: Im sure that lines been used already! What to say about this film? Its a cinematic breathtaker! Just for the photography alone should you witness this acheivement. Other than that, the film will impress you! This DVD is worth the purchase because it has a 10 minute sneak preview for the two towers.
Great movie for the family, or to watch as an escape on your own!
