Summary: Well said Neverwinter Knight!
Review: Give us a break! All you idiots who keep writing these one line reviews saying the movies are junk, just SHUT UP! If you used even half your brain you would see that they are good movies, or at least that posting one line criticizing them is dumber than the movies could ever be. If youre going to criticize a movie, at least give reasons, otherwise youll just prove that youre an idiot compared to those of us that actually give reasons for our opinions.

Summary: All about Joey and hiws crappy review.
Review: JEEZUS! If you looked a little deeper than what it seems you would find that this movie isn't about the Ring, it's about how Tolkien believed that technology warps and corrupts the minds and nature. Also, you should take some spelling lessons. If you are trying to make a point, you should at least come off like a mildly intelligent person, not lkie a stoopid idjut who din't gradiuate form thrid grade.

Finally, some people think that when the characters talk alot, they are trying to advance the plotline. Keep that in mind as you watch Plan 9 From Outer Space with you psychiatric counselor tonight. I know it's your favorite.

Summary: Great DVD the special edition is a must
Review: Alright, I must admit I am a little biased towards the movies because I have read the books. This gets 4 stars because it is 5 for the DVD 3 for the actual movie average it out to 4.
Now I must say the moviecomes nowhere near the books as a masterpiece but it is still very well done. Now I understand things needed to be cut to fit it into an already long 3 hour movie but oh well. It makes for rushed scenes but it isn't that bad. I also understand why certain characters received more scenes, but I disagree with it ompletely. I know the added romance and crap is great for sales but it seriously irritates me to know that parts of the book were cut out and new things added. But I would have to say the thing I dislike as much as that are all the close ups. God they are irritating. Every scene its like lets zoom in on the beautiful Liv Tyler or "Hey look it's Orlando Bloom. Let's get a close-up." I mean we get like an hour just on close-ups. O well enough whining. I happen to thing the trees were really well done. The movie as a whole is great definitely entertaining, but I would read the book rather than watch the movie. For the most part Peter Jackson does a fine job and butchered the book a lot less than any other director probably would have.
The special edition is great all the added minutes. Plus of course the huge section they have with cast comments throws in a lot of interesting things. Definitely gives you what you pay for.

Summary: Come on!!!
Review: Come on guys this is a boring pointless movie. I have never met any one who didnt like it. Most of the movie is talking. The hobbits look like freaks. I think the author had serios problems with his brain. Its like the movie makes everyone like it even though its one of the worst movies ever. The plot is crazy its all about a stupid ring. I know everyone is going to say its a bad reveiw but its my opinian andplease realize that LORD OF THE RINGS IS A STUPID POINTLESS UNREALISTIC MOVIE MADE BY A RETARD.

Summary: I beg your pardon!!!!!!!!!
Review: I've written a review of this DVD before, so this one isn't really reviewing the movie. I'm speaking to 'ben' who wrote a totally pointless and illogical review a little ways back called, "Horrible, boring, just the worst-- an Abomination".
Ben, you say it was dumb because of no guns?!?!?!? Look, I hate to give you a serious reality check, but there actually ARE movies out there that don't involve people pumping lead into each other and missiles exploding. So if you want to go and get all zoned out watching the ridiculous Matrix Reloaded fighting scenes and Keanu Reeves' wooden acting, be my guest. If you wanna go see Arnold Schwarzenegger trying to be an actor and being covered in sweat and running around, guns blazing, go ahead. All I'm saying is you're missing out on an excellently made, solidly based movie that has characters played by people who can actually ACT! If you want to see a REAL abomination, go watch something like Terminator 3 or Lilo and Stitch. Or maybe Star Wars Episode 2.

Summary: like the first, very good, but it could use improvement
Review: Honestly, with a lot of these things im not quite sure where you people come up with the things you post. Once again, Peter Jackson has created a masterpiece, and one that is truly worthy of praise, but there is just something about it that just isnt quite as good as the books. Honestly, there is just one major problem with this one, like with the first one. The Fellowship cut out Tom Bombadil, who was one of the best characters in the books, and this one threw in a very strange side story with Aragorn, Arwen and Elrond. While the overall movie was very good, especially extended, the part where Aragorn fell off the cliff was useless and stupid. They didnt even do anything with it, just had him come back to Helms Deep later. So, you get the idea. Like the title says, very good, but it could use improvement.

Summary: A work of rare genius
Review: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition Gift Pack is a fantastic DVD boxed set and a brilliant tribute to the genius of JRR Tolkien.

I will start by reviewing the film itself. While I thoroughly enjoyed The Two Towers theatrical edition, the extended edition is even better.

The story, while a slight departure from the books, is nothing short of genius. Integrating three distinct and complex story lines into one film is a fantastic achievement on the part of Peter Jackson and his writing team. It follows on directly from the end of The Fellowship of the Ring, with each group of characters now having seperate but related adventures throughout Middle-Earth.

The film features some of the most talented actors of our age, people like Elijah Wood, Sir Ian McKellan, Christopher Lee, to name just a few. One person worth special mention is Andy Serkis, who plays Gollum, and does a fantastic role with this complicated character.

The camera work in the films is also extraordinary, and features some truly magnificent photography of the NZ landscape, while keeping the film in line with what Tolkien wrote in his books.

But the real gold of the extended edition is just that, the extended scenes. These scenes help to reinforce and add more depth to the various scenes in the theatrical edition, expanding the story and, in some parts, paying tribute to parts of the books that were absent from the films.

For myself, the most enjoyable extended scene was a flashback that Faramir has of Boromir, to a time when Boromir led the forces of Gondor in retaking Osgiliath. To see the Boromir-Faramir-Denethor dynamic in play is something very special indeed. The scene also helps to explain why Boromir was seduced by the Ring in the first film.

The behind the scenes part of this DVD set (2 discs worth) are also well worth watching. The Lord of the Rings represents a pioneering effort in film-making, and to see how it was all done is fascinating. Some of the most interesting documentaries concerned the computer animation aspects of the film, and the way that computer programs were designed to simulate realistic battles on a huge scale, with each participant responding like a real person would. These documentaries make for truly fascinating viewing.

In addition to the DVD, this set includes a statue of Gollum and an accompanying DVD and booklet. The statue is wonderful, beautifully carved and hand-painted, it really captures Gollum well. The DVD to me seemed to be little more than an advertisement for similar collectible statues, with some of the big name production personnel going into detals of their personal collections, and the company that made the LOTR statuettes going into details about how the statues were made. It seemed like little more than an advertisement to me.

To a more trivial point, the overall box itself is beautiful, featuring a lovely picture of Gandalf leading the Rohan cavalry charge at Helm's Deep. I normally don't keep product boxes, but this box was simply too good to throw away, just like the box for the FOTR DVD Gift pack.

If you are a Lord of the Rings fan of any description, then this boxed set would be a great purchase. If you can afford it, then I highly recommend you buy it.

Summary: Gotta have the extended version!
Review: It's easy to see that the actors love the story. I do, too. The regular version of this one is all well and good (great entertainment!), but for me, the extended version is the only way to go. The extras are marvelous. And didn't Gollum just steal the show in this one! (Andy, you are a marvel! I'm so glad we got to see you in the third one!)
