Summary: Step Into the Ring with the Itallian Stallion...
Review: The first Rocky movie of 1976 was a blockbuster hit. Sylvester Stallone delivered a movie with great screenplay, great characters, a great plot and all together a wonderful movie everyone will remember. Stallone continues the Rocky story with his smash sequel, "Rocky II." At the end of the first movie, after the fight ends, Apollo said to Rocky, "There ain't gonna be no rematch." You just now that was foreshadowing the events that would happen in the sequel in 1979.

The movie starts out with the end of Rocky's fight against Apollo that ends up as an even draw. Rocky happy with the results of his fight and decides he is going to retire from the ring and get a real job now. Plus he has seeing problems in the right eye. So after leaving the hospital, Rocky marries his beloved Adrian. Now, without boxing, Rocky has to find a real job. He looks everywhere. First he tries to do commercials which is a total failure because he can't read, then he tries to get an office job which is impossible without education which he never completed. Finally he lands in a Meathouse which later on he gets laid off. Rocky turns to his only option, the one job he knows how to do, his calling, BOXING.

Rocky, convinced he can still do it, but his trainer Mickey doesn't think he has the "tools" anymore with a bad eye. Adrian doesn't want him to fight, so there is no support. Then the opportunity of a life time comes up again. Apollo Creed is very upset with the last match's result and accuses Rocky of being just a "lucky" fighter and publically demands a rematch with Rocky. Rocky and Mickey get right to work.

With determination and strong will, Rocky trains harder than he ever did before to go all the way again with Apollo. This time, Rocky just doesn't want to shock the people, he wants to win the title.

Will Rocky do it? Can he beat the World Champion? Buy this DVD to watch and find out. This movie is even greater than the first. "Go get him, Rock!"

Summary: Rocky II (1979)
Review: Well, it had to be made. Rocky has to win the title, right? Of course! As I've said before, I'm not a fan of sequels although I do make exceptions and this is one of them. When you have such a good screenplay and character depth with a movie, a sequel can be great. (i.e., The Godfather Part II) Rocky II is a very good movie in it's own right despite having the familiar title of "Rocky" in it. Unlike Rocky II, far too many sequels have you thinking back to the original instead of thinking about what's ahead and for this reason they fail.

Summary: A Pretty Fair Sequel
Review: While not nearly as brilliant as the original, this movie is still pretty entertaining and is probably the most humorous of the series. The "chase that chicken" scene is hysterical and Apollo Creed is an even better character in this installment than he was in the first. Still, this movie does drag at times as Rocky falls from grace and is forced to take jobs that most people wouldn't want. By the time a pregnant Adrain slips into a coma, some of the viewers will have done the same. Nevertheless, Rocky II is a worthy successor to the original.

Summary: A viewer whose seen the best
Review: You know not too many times when an original is as big a success as Rocky was, does the sequel even compare...Well Rocky II does... Stallone directed this movie to perfection (another surprise)... In part I he gets destroyed in the ring, nearly going blind (Which many boxers do) from his bout with Apollo. Rocky gets his paycheck, marries Adrian, and tries to start a normal life as most people would. Though everywhere he went, he could only see signs that his heart belonged back in the ring... Rocky goes into depression when all the troubles catch up to him... but one inspiring message from his wife, gets him back on track to fight Creed one last time...The most touching moment is Rocky's last message to his wife at the end of the movie, which still inspires people today... A classic.
