Rating: Summary: all about jane ; Review: The movie is mostly about jane and her father and tarzan is more of an afterthought this movie is a waste of time unless you are a big bo derek fan
Rating: Summary: A Amazonian fantasy Review: The movie reeks of a school-boyish fantasy for sex. There is plenty of auto-eroticism and a storyline hinges only by the barest of threads- and you guessed it:they are on Bo Derek. The photography is good and it does give you a vision of the virgin landscape and you walk away with the subliminal message about the beauty of Africa. END
Rating: Summary: The Story of Jane Review: The title character does not get much screen time in this film. He doesn't even get any lines (most of his yells are done so that you can't see his mouth). This is really the story of Jane.
Jane has decided to go to Africa to search for her father who left her and her mother many years before. On the way she must defend her virtue, kill the crew of the boat she hired, and pilot the boat to her father. There she finds a man who seems to have had his brains baked in the sun a little too long.
Eventually they all go off to search an escarpment to find the elephant's graveyard. Once on top they find the giant inland sea and a bizarre tribe living near the graveyard (we only see one dead elephant so at the time I did not know the "graveyard" had been found). They also run into Tarzan who has the habit of not speaking and passing out whenever he exerts himself.
I really got the feeling that the only thing any of the film's creators knew about Tarzan was what they had learned from Johnny Weissmuller films. The escarpment seems to be about half the continent. It is nearly impossible to climb so I don't know how dying elephants manage to get up it. Jane's experiences with the bizarre tribe (where she gets painted white) seem to have been lifted from Ursula Andress's film Slave Of The Cannibal God.
There is very little that is right with this film (other than that it does finally end). Jane goes from super-able to a frightened schoolgirl but eventually falls for Tarzan and reconciles with her father. But in the end it is not really worth watching. For viewers who are hoping to see Bo Derek nude, almost all of that is found during the closing credits so you might as well just skip right to them.
Rating: Summary: Miles O'Keefe Review: This is possibly one of the worst movies I've ever seen but I give it 4 stars because I think Miles O'Keefe pulls off the best performance of the character Tarzan I've ever seen. O'Keefe not only looks the part but in this (bad) remake I liked the idea that the Apeman didn't speak at all. Unfortunately for this film the other actors did speak. If you just like looking at beautiful people Bo and Miles fit the bill, just watch it with the sound turned off and you won't cringe at the ugliness of the writing or the painfully bad acting of Mrs. Derek.
Rating: Summary: Oh no, not another Bo. Review: This was supposed to by about Tarzan, but it ended up being about Bo Derek, who naturally steals the film with her flimsy clothes or lack thereof. Read the book. It's much better.

Rating: Summary: not everybody wants Bo... some like Miles Review: Well, it's a pretty movie, very basic... if you can close your eyes when Bo is on screen and open them only for Miles. She is typically terrible! But, since he doesn't speak and only has to look very good,he's great. Sometimes there has to be more to a movie than just looking at unclothed other women! Miles is a nice offset.. while "he" may enjoy looking at Bo, "she" can enjoy looking at Miles! Best thing I've seen in a loin cloth cradled in Elephant tusks in awhile....
Rating: Summary: What a Letdown Review: What this movie lacked was what every guy wanted to see, a hell of a lot more of Bo in the nude, otherwise, why have her in the movie? And how can 2 such attractive people go through a movie without at least one scene every guy who has seen a Tarzan movie was wanting to see, Tarzan humping Jane. Personally, I'd rather see and hear Bo moaning than Tarzan roaring.
Rating: Summary: NEVER GREAT, BUT HIGHLY ENJOYABLE Review: With KING KONG 76, and SONG OF NORWAY this film was dissected by critics. Yet I cannot help liking it. Like THE BLUE LAGOON 80 it has two beautiful stars(Miles O`Keeffe and Bo Derek), breathtaking photography and a good score. OK! So it i s slowmoving, but it u want an erotic Tarzan movie(who wouldn`t?) this I S the picture. Richard Harris is over-the-top at times and the film does scream for tighter editing. But on the whole; I reckemend it.
Rating: Summary: Edgar Rice Burroughs must be rolling over in his grave!!! Review: Yes, yes, yes, this movie was a horrible depiction of the Tarzan story --- but MOST Tarzan movies are nothing like the book! When, for example, have you EVER seen anyone from the French navy appear in a Tarzan movie?!! It's NEVER happened! But if you read the book, a French navy ship is there to play a prominent role!Having said all that, Bo Derek STILL looks awesome, which is why I give this film three stars! And when those native girls strip her down and begin bathing her... YOWZERS!!! A HOT scene!!!
