Review: I thought this movie was an outstanding movie to watch. I was dispointed that the oscars didn't pick that movie because if I was picker I would pick them for oscars. Once again I really enjoyed the movie.

Summary: A GOOD PIRATE MOVIE??
Review: Ok, this is a pirate movie and i'm a girl so i'm supposed to not like this movie right? Wrong! I loved it from start to finish. Johnny Depp is brilliant as the rougish but slightly mad pirate with a heart jack sparrow. He lights up the screen every time he is on it and i have now been converted into a die hard fan. Orlando is great in this film too as the handsome sidekick. Kiera Knightly does us british girls proud as the well spoken heroine. I cannot recommend this film enough - watch it! even if you don't like pirates (like me), don't like action movies (like me) and aren't clued up on the genius that is johnny depp (unlike me) you can't help but fall in love with this film.

Summary: Excellent, well done, fun and adventurous
Review: I had so much fun with this film. It pulls you right in from the start and gives you a sense of being a part of the action as if you were in each scene observing the characters. The cinematography, casting,acting, directing, costuming, screenplay, etc...were all near perfect. After seeing Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, I was not able to envision another person cast in that role. He did such a wonderful job and made the movie so fun that I believe all the other characters could have been sub-par and the film would have still stood strong. This, however, was not the case. Each member of the cast was superb and added to the believability of this unbelievable film. I highly recommend this film. It is simply fantastic.

Summary: Too Long and Repetitive!
Review: I give this movie 3/5 because of its intensely repetitious nature. Jerry Bruckheimer's idea of a movie is apparently "attempt to film a story, and when that fails, fight, fight, fight!" Other than that, the movie was okay. The inclusion of Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp was a plus, and the fighting was choreographed quite well. The plot could have used some work, as I mentioned already, which of course can't be blamed on Bruckheimer alone. The general idea, though, was a good one, and it's refreshing to see "epic adventures" like this one gaining popularity again.

Review: Okay, it more or less deserved three, but I love Johnny and won't hurt his feelings. I'll make this quick.
Pros of the movie: Two attractive males, a very funny older male, lots of fighting, lots of boats, humorous, etc.
Cons: IT'S SO GOSH DARN LONG! That chick gets to kiss Orlando.
Okay, you get the point. It went on forever and ever. I liked it cause it was pretty funny and I'm a diehard fan of the big JD. Rent this before you buy it or you may hate yourself forever.

Summary: One of the best movies I have ever seen
Review: First of all I think Johny Depp and Orlando Bloom did a awsome job! When I saw the pre-views I did not think I was going to like this movie. I usually do not like bloody action movies. This movie, however, was nothing like that. This movie will make you root for the main Pirate, Jack Sparrow. This was also one of the funniest movie I have ever seen. If you do not wish to know the plot of the story then I suggest you do not read the rest of this review.
Captain Jack Sparrow's (johny Depp)idle pirate life capsize after his nemesis, the crafty captain Barbossa, steals his ship the Black Pearl. Later he invades the town of Port Royal, and kidnaps the govener's daughter(Keira Knightle, who I thought did a good, not great, jog in this movie.) In a attempt to get her back and recapure the Black Pearl, Elezibeth's friend, and the towns Black Smith, Will Turner joins forces with Jack Sparrow. Will, however, does not know that thet there is a cursed treasure that has doomed Barbossa and his crew to live as the undead.
I will not give away any more of the story than I already have, but I will say this DVD is a must-buy(after renting this movie, I did this myself.)

Summary: A good movie that drags at times...
Review: There's a nice little 90-minute B movie trapped inside the 143 minutes of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," a movie that charms the audience and then outstays its welcome. Although the ending leaves open the possibility of a sequel, the movie feels like it already includes the sequel; maybe that explains the double-barreled title. It's a good thing that Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp are on hand to jack up the acting department. Their characters, two world-class goofballs, keep us interested even during entirely pointless swordfights. Pointless? See if you can follow me here. Capt. Jack Sparrow (Depp) has a deep hatred for Capt. Barbossa (Rush), who led a mutiny aboard Sparrow's pirate ship, the Black Pearl, and left Capt. Jack stranded on a deserted island. Barbossa and his crew then ran afoul of an ancient curse that turned them into the Undead. By day they look like normal if dissolute humans, but by the light of the moon, they're revealed as skeletal cadavers. Now here's the important part: Because they're already dead, they cannot be killed. Excuse me for supplying logic where it is manifestly not wanted, but doesn't that mean there's no point in fighting them? There's a violent battle at one point between the Black Pearl crew and sailors of the Royal Navy, and unless I am mistaken the sailors would all eventually have to be dead because the skeletons could just keep on fighting forever, until they won. Yes? The only reason I bring this up is that the battle scenes actually feel as if they go on forever. It's fun at first to see a pirate swordfight, but eventually it gets to the point where the sword-clashing, yardarm-swinging and timber-shivering get repetitious. I also lost count of how many times Jack Sparrow is the helpless captive of both the British and the pirates, and escapes from the chains/brig/noose/island. And yet the movie made me grin at times, and savor the daffy plot, and enjoy the way Depp and Rush fearlessly provide performances that seem nourished by deep wells of nuttiness. Depp in particular seems to be channeling a drunken drag queen, with his eyeliner and the way he minces ashore and slurs his dialogue ever so insouciantly. Don't mistake me: This is not a criticism, but admiration for his work. It can be said that his performance is original in its every atom. There has never been a pirate, or for that matter a human being, like this in any other movie. There's some talk about how he got too much sun while he was stranded on that island, but his behavior shows a lifetime of rehearsal. He is a peacock in full display. Consider how boring it would have been if Depp had played the role straight, as an Errol Flynn or Douglas Fairbanks (Sr. or Jr.) might have. To take this material seriously would make it unbearable. Capt. Sparrow's behavior is so rococo that other members of the cast actually comment on it. And yet because it is consistent and because you can never catch Depp making fun of the character, it rises to a kind of cockamamie sincerity. Geoffrey Rush is relatively subdued--but only by contrast. His Barbossa, whose teeth alone would intimidate a congregation of dentists, brings gnashing to an art form. Only the film's PG-13 rating prevents him from doing unthinkable things to the heroine, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), whose blood, it is thought, can free the captain and his crew from the Curse of the Black Pearl. Elizabeth is the daughter of Weatherby Swann, the governor (Jonathan Pryce) of Port Royal, a British base in the Caribbean, and seems destined to marry Cmdr. Norrington (Jack Davenport), a fate which we intuit would lead to a lifetime of conversations about his constipation. She truly loves the handsome young swordsmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), whom she met when they were both children, after spotting him adrift on a raft with a golden pirate medallion around his neck, which turns out to hold the key to the curse. Jack Sparrow takes a fatherly interest in young Turner, especially when he discovers who his father was ... and that is quite enough of the plot. Bloom is well cast in a severely limited role as the heroic straight-arrow. He has the classic profile of a silent-film star. Knightley you will recall as the best friend of the heroine in "Bend It Like Beckham," where she had a sparkle altogether lacking here. Truth be told, she doesn't generate enough fire to explain why these swashbucklers would risk their lives for her, and in closeup, seems composed when she should smolder. Parminder K. Nagra, the star of "Beckham," might have been a more spirited choice. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" is "based on" the theme park ride at Disney World, which I have taken many times. It is also inspired (as the ride no doubt was) by the rich tradition of pirate movies, and excels in such departments as buried treasure, pirates' caves, pet parrots and walking the plank, although there is a shortage of eye patches and hooks. The author Dave Eggers reportedly plans to open a Pirates' Store, complete with planks measured and made to order, and "The Curse of the Black Pearl" plays like his daydreams.

From the Main Menu, access the 'Below Deck' option. Select 'Scene Index' and then go to the second page of chapter stops. Highlight 'Pirate Ships' and then press the 'Left' arrow key on your remote control. It will highlight the ring on the skeleton's hand then press enter. INTERVIEWS
On the second disk, go to the 'Moonlight Serenade - Scene Progression'. Press right and a tooth on the Pirate should be highlighted. You will then see a short interview with Keith Richards talking about Johnny Depp using him as inspiration for Capt Jack Sparrow. BEHIND THE SCENES
1. Go to "Fly on the Set", then click right to highlight one of the monkey's canine teeth, click enter and you will see a fast forward progression of how the cave set was built. 2. It's quite long, and it's scored. This film is excellent!

Summary: Highly Over-Rated and Disappointing
Review: I just rented this movie and for the life of me, can't see what the big deal was. Yeah, I know it was the high grossing movie of 2003 (I mean with humans. Finding Nemo was the highest grosser, but is animation.) From the previews it looked exciting and fast moving, however, it bogged down in certain parts that it almost put me to sleep. Big plot holes. Maybe I snoozed off and missed something, but why did the cursed pirates only become skeletons when the plot called for it. SPOILER ALERT: If Jack Sparrow turned out to be one of them at the end, why didn't Orlando Bloom's blood make him mortal again and kill him like the others? Johhny Depp says he based his character on Peppy Le Pew and Rolling Stones Keith Richards, but spent all of the movie sounding like a drunk Dudley Moore in Arthur. I have to give it to the powers that be that the locations, cinematography and special effects were very well done, but I just can't see that all the hubbub is. Better than Master & Commander though. At least this movie has life to it and the cursed pirates/skeletons were very funny.

Review: This is trully the best comedy/adventure MOVIE EVER! it doesnt deserve a 4.5 rating is suposed to be 5 star movie! this movie is great the story is incredible and the comedy is awsome johny dep is trully an awsome character in this movie! i cant wait for pirates of the carebean 2 which suposebly is coming out between ether this year or 2005!! cant wait to buy this movie as soon as possible i know i wont be disapointed and neither will you!
