Summary: Heavy-handed, trite, insulting, and just plain BAD
Review: The most irritating thing about this movie was that it won an Oscar for Best Picture. Of course this should be expected from an organization that consistently overlooks some of the finest films of all time in favor of sentimental crap (Raging Bull losing to Ordinary People in 1980 comes to mind). Folks have told me that the love story tugs on one's heart. For those who like to aim a bit higher, skip this movie. Typically Hollywood crap, marketed in the most cynical fashion to the most unsophisticated rubes. In the words of Paul Fussel, not just bad but BAD. Cameron should be taken out and shot.

Summary: "The Greatest Film on Earth"
Review: I'm not much of a film buff, but watching Titanic with no true reason to see it initally was a total turning point for me. It's amazing to see a film make a super impact on peoples' lives, and it hurts when people criticize it because of Leo DiCaprio, or beause it broke all the records in the Box office. I never cared for Titanic and its fate before this film, and now I have greater respect for the loss of the people, and for preserving the memory of this great ship. The film itself has such a genuine story about true love, and aside from that I have found this an educational, entertaining film that I take pride in. It evokes feelings in me and for anyone who has experienced true love, they most likely can understand where I am coming from. Nothing will ever top this film. Thank you, James Cameron! :)

Summary: History was accurately portrayed with a love story as lure.
Review: The actual story of Titanic was that the arrogance of the early 20th Century made people believe that technology could make us conquer nature; that people could be indestructible. The lesson is one of which we need constantly to be reminded. Time and again we rely too much upon technology to run our lives. The Vietnam War was fought on the assumption that technology wins wars. That error cost millions of lives. The accomplishment of this movie was in revealing a real-life, awful historical event from which we can still learn lessons to this day. Mr. Cameron understood that in order to dramatize this piece of history, he needed the spice of a romance as backdrop. The grandeur of the cinematography obviously assisted in telling this incredible but true story. One thing that makes the movie one of the best ever is that it showed that the public at large is pretty sophisticated and needn't be lured to movie houses by improbable plots, shootouts, car crashes and violent fantasy. Movies like Titanic, The Last Emperor, Schlindler's List, Empire of the Sun, The Color Purple, teach us history, with all its lessons, while they entertain. That is why Titanic is one of the best movies of all time.

Summary: Okay, here's my opinion...
Review: I could understand why the movie shattered the box office: Leo diCaprio. Duh. Teenage girls. Okay, I'm not dising myself - I'm a teenage girl - but really. Leo helped out the movie a lot.

The special effects are phenomenal. Of course they are! And that's the only reason I liked the film. The amazing technological aspect.

As for the acting...ugh. And the plotline? Yawn. Can you get more unoriginal?

Summary: Nice, Not Great
Review: "Titanic" was a good spectacular, especially the sinking of the boat. But watching it a second time, you quickly wish the stupid love story was thrown overboard, too. It does not hold a candle to the l950 classic, "Titanic" starring the Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb. It was in black and white, on a much smaller budget, but wow, did it deliver an emotional punch, especially Barbara's last scene when she screams: "Norman! My little boy!" He has stayed behind with his father, Clifton Webb. Those emotions were never touched in the teenage love affair between Kate and Leo. Dear James Cameron: you are most certainly not "King of the World!" You were when you made "Terminator", a real classic. Stop trying to see how expensive a movie you can make. Stick with sci-fi. Again, the real emotional roller-coaster movie to see regarding Titanic, is the l950 Stanwyck and Webb classic, Titanic. It's on American Movie Classics every other month.

Summary: Love story that will "go on" forever.
Review: Never have I been so moved by a movie that I find myself playing scenes over & over in my mind almost everday. Kate Winslet is extraordinary as well as all the other actors. I felt all emotions & that is one of the best things about this movie. Normally, a movie has maybe a couple of good scenes that you remeber as compared to "Titanic" that has an overwhelming amount of scenes to where I could only start from the beginning of the movie. Every time I watch "Titanic" it gets better & better. Also the music is amazing & makes "Titanic" that much more fantastic.

Summary: The most over-rated film ever
Review: The love story was little unbelievable and DiCapprio's final scene made my sides hurt laughing in how corny and cliched it was. The entire script was just stupid. Cameron knows how to direct special effects, but he cannot write. Nor can he get universally good performances. Some were good (Winslet's, Stuart's), some were mediocre (DiCapprio's), and some were just horrible (Zane's--I kept waiting for him to grow a moustache so he could twirl it evilly like in the stage melodramas) The effects saved it from being a disaster, and there were some good moments. But 11 oscars? Gimme a break!

Summary: A PRETTY WEAK MOVIE
Review: I didn't think this movie was good at all.....I think it was way over-hyped when in reality it was garbage with lots of special effects to cover it up. It's basiclly boy meets girl on a boat.....how stupid!! This movie didn't deserve to make even half as much as it did at the box office.

Summary: This was an average movie...................................
Review: This was definetely an average movie...I cannot realize or know why this was such a popular movie, but I have a strange feeling because all the young teenage girls out there wanted to see Leonardo DiCaprio, not actually buying all those box office tickets because of the movie itself. I think the plot was somewhat overexaggerated and somewhat boring...not to mention the fact this movie is extremely long...my attention span is not that good enough to handle something that long(more than three whole hours)....However, I will admit that I do not at all regret buying this. It was a pretty good movie inspite of those previous flaws that I have just mentioned.Yes.
