Rating: Summary: The best movie I have ever seen!! Review: A wonderful and romantic look at the luxury ocean liner.I've seen this movie 20 times and each time I enjoy it more and more...Kate Winslet's performance was overlooked for an Oscar and was Leonardo DiCaprio's.A technically and emotionally superior film.
Rating: Summary: Special Effects Ahoy !! Review: On every Friday night my family and I rent videos from the local store. That night we got 'Shine', 'Land And Freedom' and 'Titanic'. After watching the first two films it was time for Titanic. And my response.............. the real star of the film is the sound effects. The acting was average and the script was incredibly lame . How this typical film ever one an oscar is one of the greatest mysteries of our time. Also the soundtrack is annoying. I know Celine Dion has a lot of fans.....................but personally I`d rather listen to cats fight. END
Rating: Summary: A great movie...but not because of the love story Review: Before writing this review, I read many others. Some hated the movie just because of the love story, some loved it because of the romance. Contrary to popular beliefs, though, the saga occurring between Jack and Rose was not the central story to me. I loved the realness of the events, the music, the effects. I don't think the reason for all 11 Oscars were because of the acting; Best Acting went to As Good as it Gets, remember? Some of the acting, I will admit, was weak. I did not weep at the final scene in the water between Jack and Rose, but instead when the mother tells her children a folk tale about heaven, and when the old couple comforts each other. I wept at the sight of the frozen bodies in the water, especially at the dead mother and infant. I admit that I shed tears at the final scene, not when Jack and Rose embrace, but at the sight of Andrews, the dark-haired little girl, and the musicians. The portrayal of the history of the early 1900's and the tragedy of the sinking was beautiful, and that alone made Titanic worth seeing.
Rating: Summary: a 'Titanic' movie, can't I rate any higher?? Review: This is an excellent all round movie. It has a little bit of everything. Romance, action, adventure, bad guys, cool wardrobe, anything that you could ask for. Kate and Leo look good together, and made the movie what it is. It was a bit long and drug out, but well put together. The people who don't like it are just bitter because they know that they will never have anything as good. An excellent action/adventure/drama/romance story that can compete with the best of them, because it is the best!
Rating: Summary: IMPRESSIVE Review: I have to admit it took me over two years to watch this movie. I have never been a big movie fan, I enjoy books much more. I have never seen the movies that everyone should have seen i.e.(ET,Star Wars, Men In Black etc) so I was in no hurry to see this, I just happen to finally watch it when I had absolutely nothing to do, who has 4 hours in these days and time to watch a movie. Let me be the first to say I was truly surprised, this movie was fantastic. I didnt realize how much it affected me until I was still thinking about it days later. I commend the filmmakers it actually lived up to the hype for once. I think even the most cynical people will enjoy this movie.
Rating: Summary: Great movie - well done and extremely entertaining Review: I didn't think I would like Titanic when I was dragged to the theater to see it a couple of winters ago. But I tried to keep an open mind (unlike many of the people commenting here, who seemed to have sat down to watch it with knives instead of popcorn) and was I glad I did! I was blown out the back of the theater! Titanic is totally awesome, engrossing entertainment. Bravo to James Cameron for this triumphant achievement (and T2). P.S. Celine Dion is an embarrassment.
Rating: Summary: A non creative movie Review: When I finished watching this movie I was not dissapointed. After all when you don't think you will like the movie and then you see it on an airplane how can you expect anything good of it. I was disgusted with the way this movie took a serious and tragic event and turned it into love story. I was amazing to me how much people seemed to want to see it for the "compelling" love story. They could care less about the tragic events that took place that night. I think what annoyed me the most however was the people crying saying how Leo dies. Oh well what about all of the people who really did die? As far as I was concerned it was a tragic historical event smacked together with Romeo and Juliet and they didn't even bother to get a new actor. No matter how many people really love it think of the reason why they like it. It is not a good movie. I wouldn't mind if they did a doccumentary about the Titanic. Plus there were outrageos things in the movie. For example: -The one surviever just happens to be the person who owned the jewel that this man was looking for. -It is the early nineteen hundreds and this girl is going to strip down naked for someone to draw her. Not gonna happen. Remember this is the time period where women wore gloves to cover skin to make sure not a single part of their body was exposed. Dont waste your time or money to see this movie. It isn't worth it.
Rating: Summary: OVER RATED Review: This movie was so over rated. I got a pumped up for nothing. The best part of the movie was the credits at the end.
Rating: Summary: Titanic~The greatest film ever made. Review: Titanic was, without a doubt, the most captivating and vivid film I ever seen. Amazing stars such as Kate Winslet,Billy Zane,Gloria Stuart,Frances Fisher, Leo DiCaprio, Bill Paxton ,etc, set the stage for one the most riveting dramas ever put to film. From the opening footage of SouthHampton to the reunion ending, I was glued to the theatre screen, and then the home television screen. Jack and Rose pulled us into their world, demanding that we see and understand the horror of April 15,1912. What could have been done better? Nothing. For anyone who loves a good romance, heartstopping drama, and amazing special effects, I recommend that you book your passage on The Ship Of Dreams. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: A Technical Marvel Review: I could hold out no longer- I was able to rent this from the library for free, so I figured I might as well see what all the fuss was about. I must say the special effects in this film are outstanding, and James Cameron's direction was excellent. I enjoyed the 2nd half of the film more than the first because of the action when the ship began to sink. But Best Picture? The story and acting were mediocre. The true redeeming feature was how well the sinking of the unsinkable ship was portrayed on film. It was enjoyable to watch... but then, we also rented "Volcano" the same weekend and found that to be enjoyable, too (with about the same level of writing, though with actors/actresses floundering with embarrassingly bad lines). So why not "Volcano" for best picture instead of "Titanic?"
