Rating: Summary: Not bad at all... Review: Well, now that the hype is over, I can say some stuff and get away with it. Well, almost... The big budget and visual effects almost got me, but that's all it is - big bidget special effects. Not that the overall presentation was bad - i enjoyed the movie, but it droned on a little too long. I also agree with one of the last reviewers on this page - I think it's awful that hordes of people sob only when Jack dies, but seem to forget about the hundreds of people that died also. Kate Winslet wasn't bad. I was thinking - was there real, true love between the two? It was just attraction, I'm sorry. Jack maybe did love her but it seems that Rose wanted to make her fiance jealous and show a woman can't be told what to do.
Rating: Summary: This is what the hype was all about? Review: I decided to wait until this movie hit the video stores, so Icould check it out and enjoy at my leisure. I found myselffastforwarding through a good part of it. The settings were beautiful, the costumes were exquisite, the special effects were well done. However, the movie itself was a BORE!!!! The only thing I can see that made this movie such a hit was the average moviegoer's facination with the lead actors. That and the hype surrounding this movie... The best part was when the boat sank and I thought "It's finally over!" I remember that L.A. Confidential was up for the academy award as well as Titanic. Too bad it did not win - it was a much better movie - well acted, well paced, smart and sassy. Titanic looked pretty, but no substance underneath. As I said, a bore. Once was enough for me.
Rating: Summary: TITANIC WASTE OF 200 MILLION. ZERO STARS FOR POOR ACTING. Review: First of all, the poor casting selections did the film in fromthe get-go.Leo DiCaprio looks all of about 16 years old and has aface oily enough to grease a cookie sheet. Kate Winslet is a portly petunia whose acting is so contrived that you wish Jack wouldn't have given up his spot on the floating wreckage. The worst thing about "Titanic"? All the laudits from people who don't know what a good film is will only serve to feed James Cameron's massive ego. Look for another disservice to the movie industry at a theater near you. Oh, and James, pick someone else besides Celine Dion to screech your next theme song, please.
Rating: Summary: The most overrated film of all time Review: Titanic is completely overrated and is stupid. One of the main things that ruins this movie is it is pretty obvious what is going to happen. The ship is going to sink and one of them is going to die. Like we didn't know. The plot is nothing new. <Didn't NBC air a movie called "Titanic" a few years ago in which the plot was similar?> The acting is horrible. With the exception of whn the ship sinks Kate and Leo provide no drama or suspense. This scene is the only "exciting" scene in entire the film. Titanic is nothing more then a boring 3-4 hour soap-opera.
Rating: Summary: THE MOST OVERRATED FILM IN THE HISTORY OF CINEMA!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I actually had to watch this stupid film and wonder why so many people liked this horrible movie that it makes my stomach turn. It was either that women wanted to see DiCaprio, the moviegoing public wanted to watch horrible stupid and miserable acting, the special effects that hide the film's awful flaws, or the awful love on the tradgedy of the great Titanic. I advise you not to even watch this film ever and I mean EVER for it's unsympathetic storyline, harsh reality, and stupid characters doesn't deserve the fame. Cinema has lost it's leap of faith!
Rating: Summary: A Great Movie! Review: Titanic is a great movie. I have seen it six times and I loved it every time. It is a cute and romantic story. Although the end is sad it is still a good movie. Funny, too believe it or not. Five stars is excellent but I would give it ten stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: All round "Great" Review: This movie can not be compared to anything out there, because it is so unlike anything out there, the Picture/Sound Quality is Great, the Acting alike. No one could have put the movie together better, and there is no room for inprovement... If your looking for a movie to move you, Titanic is it.
Rating: Summary: good, not spectacular Review: I think the mediocre acting and the cliched story really brought down an otheriwse visually stunning film. Maybe one of the 100 best of all time - maybe.
Rating: Summary: Please read this if you liked Titanic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: There is nothing in this film but a shallow, maudlin attemptto make you cry. The ending produced no emotion in me whatsoeverexcept bewilderment at how such banality could be made. Those who call this the most touching movie ever have obviously never seen a film with such emotional power as The Rules of the Game (1939). Let me recommend one of my favorite films in lieu of Titanic. If you want to experience a film with a compelling drama that climaxes by giving you a surge that not only brings sudden tears but also a heart flutter, watch Zinnemann's The Search (1948). There is nothing like it on al of cinema- it's on my top ten list.
Rating: Summary: No Stars Review: What disturbed me about this film is not that it shows how bad a big-budget flick can be but that the viewers seemed to think it wonderful. I have seen a lot of films, but few have ever disappionted me as much as this one. The acting is horrible. The two protagonists act like 90's airheads. The story is banal and unstructured. The film just never seems to get going. Even the finale was boring. However, this is not just a terrible film in its own right, but it is also a great disservice to history. There is-no matter what pubescent teenagers tell you- no emotional depth to the film. Everything is made of cliches, and the real tragedy is not that the boat sinks and passengers die but that you really couldn't care less. Yes, that's what I said- couldn't care less. The lack of lack of emotional grip in the film produces no response- except hormonal- in the viewer, and that in itself is a disservice to those that actually lost their lives. This is not a good film- trust me, I know. I have mingled with Renoir in The Rules of the Game (1939) and I have danced with Ingrid in Casablanca (1942); and there is nothing in Titanic to even graze the surface of these masterpieces. Titanic, get real and get out of stock!
