Summary: What a horrible movie
Review: This was one of the worst movies I ever saw and I can't belive it won best picture. The dialogue was horrendous, the acting terrible, and the direction very basic. Even the sinking of the ship couldn't save this movie. If you think this movie is the best ever, you must not have seen The Godfather, Schindler's List, or Fargo. END

Summary: Far from the worst movie ever, but far from the best as well
Review: Normally I would be willing to declare any movie with Kate Winslet the greatest movie of all time, simply by virtue of her stunning acting ability. However, even with Kate aboard, "Titanic" still doesn't deserve, I'm afraid, all its critical and public praise. Its positive points: the movie is beautifully filmed, and the special effects are on a scale of realism and scope I've never seen before. The music is pleasing, in that epic-sweeping sort of way, and Kate Winslet does her usual marvelous job of acting. However, the film has some glaring flaws as well. Now, "Titanic" is an epic, and the idea with these types of movies is to sit back and become absorbed in the sweep of things, not thinking too much about the finer points. Nonetheless, there are problems. At the risk of disappointing legions of preteen and teenage girls everywhere, I must report that Leonardo Dicaprio is NOT the greatest actor in the world, and this movie proves it. Billy Zane's role as Rose's evil fiance is far, far too one-dimensional: all he needed was a diabolical laugh and a mustache to twirl. James Cameron's ideas about 1912 society are also laughably black and white (rich people always bad, poor people always happy and good), and I don't think even he could plausibly explain to me how, after establishing that the Atlantic Ocean is at near-freezing temperatures, Rose and Jack can splash around in that water inside the ship for nearly 20 minutes of screen time without suffering ill effects. Only a short list of flaws, but they ARE there, and ought to be borne in mind when considering "Titanic"s plce in cinematic history. END

Summary: Movie of the Century
Review: I am what you would call an "amateur" historian. Before I saw the movie, I was reluctant because I did not know how James Cameron was going to perceive the epic disaster. There have been other "Titanic" movies made, but after I saw the movie for the first time, I continued to go back for eleven more times. The movie is just beyond belief not just the love story, but with the entire storyline. The movie was incredible, I have never seen a movie of this caliber in my life made as well as what James Cameron did. It just stole my breath away. END

Summary: The most romantic movie I've ever seen!
Review: I have seen Titanic 7 times and when I get my copy from Amazon.com, I will watch it another 7 times....then give it a rest! James Cameron did a fantastic job, and Jack and Rose will forever be a legendary on screen couple. I also have to mention that the music to this film was awesome. If you just let yourself go and stop being so critical, you will see the beauty of this film. END

Summary: So Incredibley Moving
Review: You HAVE to see this movie. I love Leonardo DiCaprio and Titanic all together. This is the best movie ever made. Please rent it,read it,buy it,I don't care but you have to experience this!!!!! END

Summary: It didn't seem like 3 hours...It seemed like 3 days
Review: I really looked forward to going to this movie. I normally love historically accurate films. The problem was the fact that the movie had to waste so much time on the love story that ended up turning the entire theater into one big pool of estrogen. The visual effects were very well done and Kate Winslett did a nice job, although the nudity seemed unnecessary and caused me to recommend that none of my students see the film. Leonardo DiCaprio made even this easy role seem difficult and was the main disappointment of the film. I watched the movie in a theater that was completely packed (obviously) and the temperature had to have risen over 100 degrees! Despite my misgivings, any film that surpasses Star Wars must be okay! Summary: We are stuff that dreams are made of...
Review: I think this movie will stand as the closest virtual way of being there onboard the doomed Titanic, unless they close the theatre doors and start filling the theatre with ice water...

The tragedy is that the Academy Awards people did not give Gloria Stuart an award. How many more times in her career is she going to get another chance at one? It would have been a no doubt brilliant way to end a career.

Speaking of her, though now in her character as the older Rose, WHY does she throw the necklace over the side? A great loss, not only to her family's future inheritance, but such an object should be in the Smitsonian or similar where it could be enjoyed by the public. I thought this one of the weaker parts of the movie. One other aside, I think Whitney Houston would have been a better choice to do the soundtrack.

But overall, it was well done, and Mr. Cameron deserves the accolades he's received. Follow up your viewing with the transcripts of the Titanic Disaster Hearings - adds the real-life dimension to the cinematic experience. END

Summary: A Great Epic That I Will Never Forget
Review: I was one of the last of my friends to see Titanic. I wasn't sure it was going to live up to all the hype that surrounded it, boy was I wrong. It was an excelent picture. With a little bit of everything. Action, violence, comedy, romance, it has all of that. I think that it was an incrediable movie. You could be as young as 3, like a friend of mine's brother, and enjoy the movie. Although I didn't cry, I got this whole rush over me when the movie was over. It was if I was parilized from seeing something magical before my very eyes. The music I also feel is something that adds to the power of this movie. ( I very much reccommend that you get the soundtrack along with video if you have not already gotten it.) Kate Winslet did an outstanding job in Titanic and very much deserved her nomination. Leonardo DiCaprio also somewhat deserved a nomination, in fact the whole cast did. Everyone in the movie from "Rose" to backgound people waiving off good bye, was realistic. Everything, people, props, costumes, just brought you back the time of Titanic. However just for mothers that don't want their children exposed to this. There is a certain scene that may not be appropiate for young children. Hint: When you see "Rose" letting her hair down after she has said "... and only this," you might want to fast foward if get what I mean. Though it is a very important part in the movie soooo........ I am 13 years old and I feel that I have really matured in my way of thought after seeing this movie. I very much reccommend it and it would be shame for all who haven't gotten a chance to see it. Summary: It gets in your head and refusses to leave
Review: The movie was good but not the best movie of all time. I agree with Hawaii in that this movie is imoral but hey most movies now a days are. The reason everyone, in my oppinon, sees this movie over and over again is because it's stuck in their head for weeks on end. If you left the theater and didn't think about it the movie wouldn't have been such a hit. END

Summary: If You Only Buy 1 Movie in Your Entire Life, Make it TITANIC
Review: This is the absolute most amazing, wonderful movie I have ever seen. And not only is it a great movie, but it is also the best story ever told. The love story between Jack and Rose is unlike any other, and the true story of Titanic will break your heart. This movie is so well done- there is so much detail and work put into the production that the finished product stands high above any other movie ever made. Once you see Titanic, you'll ever look at any other movie the same way again. (In other words, Titanic will spoil every other movie you've ever seen or will see. There just isn't another movie quite like it!) END
