Summary: One of the most original and fun movies I've ever watched!
Review: I got to see this at the Toronto Film Festival, and the writer/director Matthew Blight introduced the film, and he said that the film was basically about girls and his obsession with them. After watching it, it's quite evident that this is true. Anyways, all I have to say is that I really loved this movie. It had so much energy and was just really enjoyable to watch. I haven't got the dvd yet, but I hope it's the exact same cut I saw at the film festival. In my opinion this had way more energy than the first Freeway, (which I felt was kind of boring, and honestly didn't like that much), and you have to love Vincent Galo in this. Classic! This was easily the best film I saw at the film festival, and my girlfriend thought so too. So I recommend it to those who like something fun and different, and I know it's not for everyone, but give it a chance. Also, if you bought the dvd and didn't like, feel free to send it my way. :)

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I had never heard of this movie or the first one until yesterday, I left such an impression on me, I had to see if Amazon had it. Although I have never seen the actors in this movie, they have done an awsome job of becoming their characters. i can't say much except this movie speaks for itself, it is definently a must see.

Summary: amazing romp through life on the outside
Review: I love this film. I've rarely seen a film so closely mirror some of my own experiences. You may not identify with this film unless you've been through hell and back, and then maybe back for a second look. Natasha Lyonne's character is so real. Crystal is right up there with Adrian from Liquid Sky as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy the film and for those who don't, stick with the "well marketed" movies.

Summary: A great sequel to a great film.
Review: I loved Freeway, & I was surprised & pleased to discover that Freeway 2 is every bit as memorable. Little connects the films except their similar tone, which is totally unique & almost beyond description. Equal parts violent, funny, sad, disturbing & (most surprisingly, perhaps) genuinely compassionate. The two female leads are tremendous; Natasha Lyonne in particular rises to the occasion w/ a ferocious performance as White Girl. Vincent Gallo has a brief but memorable role. Highly recommended.

Summary: Lightning does not strike twice for Matthew Bright.
Review: I loved Freeway. I mean that. I really loved it. Apparently, however Matthew Bright went to the well one too many times (which is to say, two). Much like the first Freeway, Bright adapted a children's fairy tale into a dreary statement on modern culture and society. Last time, he used Little Red Riding Hood, this time he uses Hanzel and Gretl. Last time he did a good job. This time.... well....

It's hard to say what went wrong. The cast is less talented (or at least less famous) this time around. Joining American Pie's Natasha Lyonne are Maria Celedonia , Michael T. Weiss, April Telek, Vincent Gallo, and the closest thing the film has to a headliner, David Alan Grier. I don't wish to place too much fault on the laurels of the performers. Lyonne performed admirably in American Pie as well as the less well known guilty pleasure Modern Vampires and the acclaimed dark comedy But I'm a Cheerleader. Weiss was not only featured in the first Freeway (as a different character) but is also best known for his television roles in Days of Our Lives and The Pretender. Grier of course is famous from his stint on In Living Color as well the current TV series Dag and a string of other films. However none of them deliver on anywhere near the level of Reese Witherspoon, Dan Hedaya, Kiefer Sutherland or Brooke Shields from the first film.

They probably didn't have a lot to work with. Bright seems to be coasting on his idea from the previous film. Freeway 2: Confessions of a Trick Baby doesn't really break any new ground as a piece of art or as a cultural statement. It simply reiterates points from the first film and is actually sub-par at even that. The shocking cultural analysis from the first film is simply taken for granted here. It seems that Bright is even aware of this. The film hobbles along without much point other than to say "people suck, and they're violent" ...

This isn't even a sequel. The Writer's Guild of America doesn't even consider it a sequel. Bright simply realized that a film called "Confessions of a Trickbaby" wouldn't have gathered much attention, so he figured that if he tacked on the name of his only success story people might have taken note. He'd have been better off allowing this one to slide in under the radar. If I only knew of a single film, I might consider Bright a genius. Indeed he was even responsible for the writing (though not the directing) on Modern Vampires, which as I said is another of my guilty pleasures. ....

Critics of the first film might complain about the language or the message. You could do the same here. The problem is, before there was something more. Something to take note of. A treasure to be discovered after digging through six feet of sludge. There is no diamond to be found in the center of this lump of coal. I spent a long time looking, but all I found was more coal.

Summary: Trickbaby Rocks
Review: I saw this movie at the video store and the stupid name of it intrigued me enough to pick up the box and read the description on the back. It sounded like it was an over the top b-movie and I thought it was going to be totally lame, but I rented it anyways. (I haven't seen the first "Freeway" but who cares). After watching the first half hour of it, I almost turned it off, it didn't seem to be going anywhere and the quality of the film was a bit blurred. I hung in there and slowly the story unravelled, and the characters began coming to life. I thought both of the actresses starring in this film were great. They had a great "chemistry", haha. "Freeway 2- Confessions of a Trickbaby" has got to be up there with one of the most disturbing movies I have seen. The story was truely bizarre and only got wierder and wierder. By the time they got to Tijuana, I couldn't believe I was watching the same movie. The filming got better and the performances even seemed to improve. This is a great alternative type movie that has a cult feel to it, I strongly recommend it to people who appreciate horrorfic, dark themes. "Freeway 2" is one of those movies that is so bad it's good.
