Rating: 1 stars
Summary: MADE FOR GERMAN TV
Review: This films has a feel of a pop-star "vehicle", in this case the celebrity being Peter Maffay, a German heavy metal stud from the 80's. The film is typical of the drugs and Mafia fare covered so well in Holliwood. The story concerns a German cop, who uncovers organized crime in a big city and an evil mastermind, who wants to take over the criminal underworld. To make the matters worse, the organized crime conspiracy remains vague and abstract, unlike the Balkan, Turkish and East European gangs that were ripping the German society apart at the time this film was made, and that in a liberal society, where prostitution was legal. The film is trying to be the German equivalent of that American 70's street sleaze classic, Vice Squad, starring Wings Hauser and Season Hubley. In brief, the film breaks no new ground (to US viewers), suffers from low budget production, clumsy and amateur stuntwork, and lack of good acting or dialogue to make up for the first two shortcomings. Only buy it if you are a Peter maffay fan or if you are interested in German cinema.
