Summary: More corn and cheese, please
Review: A silly chop socky movie, with only a few notable fight scenes. Some funny dialogue, though, and truly bizarre relationships between the three main characters.

"Soon, you too will call me master!"

"Ah-arrrrgggghhhh!"

Summary: Classic Old School Kung Fu with the great Leung Kar Yan
Review: First off my rating is for the Wu Tang Clan DVD not the actual movie. A truly rare and classic find. Excellent fight scenes and your usual training for revenge plot. One of my personal favorites. I'm being bias because I love most of Leung Kar Yan's work. My only complaint is not with the movie but with Ground Zero/Wu-Tang Clan. The picture quality is equivalent to an old video tape(and this is DVD?). The makers must of had an old bootleg copy and transferred it to DVD without any remastering. I'm afraid to buy anymore "Wu-Tang Clan" brand DVD's because the quality of this one, frankly, sucks. Unfortunately, for me, I have to settle for this because this is the only commercially available DVD of this great classic.

Summary: Gives 'Manos' a run for its money.
Review: Leun Kar Lang stars as an officer of the law, who is injured badly by a local gang. With the help of a young acrobatic boy he fights off the bad guys until their leader comes in and almost kills both of them. While in hiding the two meet up with a lonely beggar who takes them in as students and teaches them the sleeping fist technique. After both master this lethal style they are ready to take revenge on the cold hearted bullies. Leun Kar Lang is amazing again, and the fight scenes are nothing less then amazing.

Review: Sleeping Fist is more than likely the most bizarre movie that has ever been made, and perhaps one of the worst. But 'worst' in that wonderful, campy, have a few laughs with your good friends kind of way. The story centers on a guy, who for whatever reason has an axe to grind with some toughs who get the best of him early, but pay for it later. Why this guy is wronged is not worth going into. Anyway, as you might expect he befreinds a young boy (who is annoying enough to be worthy of most TV "reality" shows). He then meets up with a "wise old master" and learns the teachings of an extremely freaked-out, tripped-out, and likely fictious style of martial arts. This is the style of the sleeping fist.

Why is it called that? Well because every move within this style resembles someone in various states of sleep (you think I'm kidding, but I'm not). The most absurdly funny is the "sleeping fairy." Essentialy you make the sterotypical ching-chong eyes, put bunny ears on yourself, and hop around imitating a fairy. And yes, this is supposed to help you win a fight!

One of the more bizzare aspects of the film (if the sleeping fairy didn't take the cake) is the film's running gag: urinating on someone while they're asleep. The annoying little boy takes particular delight in this (but he gets his later on!).

The Chineese also haven't quite mastered the idioms involved in cursing American style. I don't think martial arts masters usually tell people people to "go to hell", and little boys don't usually refer to passing ruffians as "You treacherous bastards!"

This is definitely a film to get if you and a couple of friends are in the mood for a very campy film that will make you laugh your heads off....

Even for a ninja movie the plot of this one just blows my mind. It makes no sense, has no point, but yet is funny as heck... kind of like 'Manos'. If only Joel and the 'bots could have found this. To quote a previous reveiwer, "Arrrrrrgh!"
