Summary: A Good Action Flik
Review: One Of The Best Lundgren movies made. Dolph plays an exotic car thief, who is framed by a corrupt cop(George Segal). An amazing car chase through The Desert. Also stars Kristian Alfonso.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The best Dolph Lundgren movie ever.
Review: This is a great action movie with decent story line. I don't think there is any movie that features a car chase scene between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini (not even the recent car thief action movie "Gone in 60 seconds". Great stunt. This car chase scene alone is enough to justify the purchase of this budget DVD. The director is Vic Armstrong. Not sure whether this is the same Vic Armstrong that was the stunt co-ordinator for all 3 Pierce Brosnan's James Bond movies. But he is very good and should direct more action movies. The female lead by Kristian Alfonso is also very good. She plays a cop that is held hostage by Lundgren's character and she is just great. Good looking and good acting and a great body as well. George Segal is also good in a role of sleazy bad cop. Too bad this DVD is full screen. My old Japanese import LD is in wide screen, with the title "Joshua Tree" which is a more appropriate title than "army of one". Strangely, the theatrical trailer in the DVD advertised the movie as "Joshua Tree". The Sound quality of DVD is also not very good. Dolby surround 2.0 only and offer very limited surround activities. But this DVD has a list price of only $15 so it doesn't really matter. This is a good movie despite the DVD technical short comings. Get it you won't be sorry.

Summary: Just plain Greatness
Review: This movie has all 6 things that a guy wants in an action movie: 1)Great car chases, 2)Huge explosions not vital to the plot, 3)A babe who runs around in not much, 4)A scene where the main character kills at least 30 people without getting hurt, 5)Two main villians who say the f-word constantly, and 6)At least five cop cars that get wrecked. Dolph Lundgren is great! This movie is one of the best action movies ever....if you have testosterone, you'll love it

Summary: Pan and Scan Hell
Review: This was a scope movie, with a theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. This DVD is panned and scanned and it ruins the movies dynamism and impact. The action scenes are terrific and truly exciting but THIS is not the way to watch them. A shameful DVD with unacceptable sound and picture quality. Pray for an SE re-release and buy that instead.

Summary: Kristian Alfonso - see more about her
Review: Too bad we do not get to see many movies with Kristian Alfonso. Great pairing with Lundgren. Two relatively under-rated stars. Action to rival a James Bond movie of circa 1992 vintage. For the money, this is a worthwhile purchase.

Summary: WHY?
Review: Why did Artisan do this to a super-great movie? If you are going to release a DVD there are 2 rules I think should not be broken. The first rule is: always in anamorphic widescreen. The second rule is: always in Dolby 5.1. I knew that, before it was released, Artisan would release Joshua Tree. I hoped for so many special features. Like seeing a film in widescreen (2.35:1) that I had only ever seen in fullscreen. Plus a whole range of extras that the DVD format can offer. One particular extra I hoped for was an isolated musical score track as the music is some of the best I have ever heard. Joel Goldsmith's score explores so many moods and ambient feelings. From devastating action to gentle/quieter scenes. This is one of Dolph's best movies and it has been ruined. Artisan should re-release this film properly. And under it's correct title too. The title on the clapperboards and on the script was Joshua Tree. Even the name on the trailer is Joshua Tree. So what is with this "Army Of One" nonsense? How unoriginal is that. I really cannot understand why Artisan did this. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope they delete this version and re-release a more respectable version.

Summary: Wrecked movie!
Review: Why oh why is this in pan and scan only. This is a 2.35:1 framed movie and the well balanced and well composed cinematography is completely ruined on this DVD. About half the movie is missing. I love Joshua Tree but I won't buy this DVD. Artisan must understand this simply won't do. Sadly, the only widescreen version out there is the Japanese Laserdisc. And that's LONG out of print.
