Summary: Hot Female Comedy/Action
Review: Despite the poor reviews of others, I finally decided to flesh out my Anime collection by getting Sailor Victory. No regrets - except that there aren't any more offered that I can find!

There are two general anime audiences: those who like mecha action and brooding, hulking, pretty much crazy young boys who are out of touch with society and need to get a life. And those who like mecha action and fun, witty, sometimes silly, occasionally annoying, and certainly lively social interaction.

One of the reasons I bought this was it was a fem' flick - and I've learned that the only people who seem to know how to have fun are female anime characters. Men in anime tend to be constipated nerds (Perhaps the target audience? Too much time playing with toy soldiers and not people?). Women on the other hand lounge around the pool in bikinis taking it easy, gossiping. How many men in anime lounge around the pool in swimsuits gossiping about girls? Usually only the comic relief! (Get a life, fellows! Get a life! Give me a man in anime who has girlfriends or -GASP!- is married!)

Nudity? Yep, a little bit and not enough. One scene of hot bikini gals at the end. Not enough! Not enough! (For a man who likes slinky women.)

It is not a skin flick though: the women and one girl are part of Ninja Robot fighting team and they specialize in trying to kick the butts of criminals whom the ordinary police can't handle due to the bureaucratic lame-bots the police are equipped with. You'll see the girls zipping around, throwing darts and stars, using caltrops of all things, and struggling against the enemy. One thing some men probably don't like is that the women just don't dance up and destroy the bad guys - they got troubles! Sometimes they run off crying like a real girl, sometimes they jazz up and get ready to knock the bad guy and -OOPS!- get in each others way. In the end they succeed.

Quality anime, bright and clean, with good sound. Profanity galore (PG-13 indeed) and very mild and breif nudity. Action without a lot of mindless bloodshed (does anyone really get killed?). Humor, temper tantrums, reversals of fortune.

Plot? Life does not have a plot, or rather, life is the plot. I myself gag on save-the-world-from-the-evil-empire lame plots. I watch movies for people, not plot. (Get a life, guys. Heroics is not life!)

I'll be busy looking for more "Two-Star Anime" that's actually pretty good, as I've found that somewhere someone has lost touch with what makes a fun movie to watch.

How would I improve anime: black girls, chubby but pretty girls, tall girls, short girls - you know, new, different and enticing. Anime artists can draw wonderfully - now, put the talent to use with variety!

Summary: Why didn't they release OAV 1-2 first???
Review: I first saw "SAILOR VICTORY" back in the mid-90's. What many people don't know is that this DVD is actually OAV 3-4 of the GRADUATION SERIES. I guess you can say "SAILOR VICTORY" is one of those alternate universes of the GRADUATION series. Similar to what they have done with the "Tenchi Muyou" and "El Hazard" series.

It's also an anime series based on a dating/graduating school simulation video game (a "Graduation" game was released in America via PC).

Anyway, it kind of sucks that people will be watching this and not knowing it's a "GRADUATION" anime. People might think this was some major series trying to copy Sailor Moon and other mecha anime (which it probably does) but this OAV is just a special alternate setting for the girls of "GRADUATION".

Hopefully Media Blasters or some company releases the previous two OAV's (ep. 1-2). When I first saw the anime series, the OAV 3-4 (SAILOR VICTORY) was just a bonus OAV for the "Graduation" anime series fans because of how the series ended in OAV series 2 and how the girls graduated and went on their separate ways.

Anyway, as for special features...none. The original Japanese series had commercials for the OAV series and video games and soundtrack I believe...but not on this DVD.

Anyway, on it's own...and people not knowing the series behind these two OAV's, you will find those who will compare it to "Sailor Moon" and say it's rather inferior or some who may like it due to it's different style and inclusion of mecha.

Summary: Not the best out there...
Review: I was very disappointed with this anime. There was virtually no plot, and some scenes were unneccessary (aka when they change into their uniforms). If you must watch this, I suggest renting or borrowing it, because it's not even worth watching once. Granted, the animation is well done, but it is unfortunatly wasted. Get Gundam Wing or Sakura Wars (1 dvd) if you want a well done anime with mechs, at least they have decent plots.

Summary: Sailor Victory A Blast!!
Review: With excellent music and animation, Sailor Victory is a great purchase despite the fact that it is a member of the much overused teenaged-girls-get-giant-mecha category. In this series five young women get three giant mecha to use against an evil lady, named Margurite, who is determined to destroy their town. Will Sailor Victory save the day? You'll have to watch to find out.
