Rating: Summary: Only For Die-Hard Rutger Hauer Fans Review: Blind Fury is all right, if you're into formulaic action flicks involving Guns, Car Chases, and, of course, the Token Cute Rebellious Kid Who Eventually Comes Around To Love The Hero. Aside from the two shotgun-toting grandmas, however, the film is pretty forgettable. And Omega Doom is just utterly dreadful. Dreary sets and monotonous camera work portray a lame, half-assed story about robots taking over the world in nuclear winter and fighting over some lost gun stockpile. Oh, let me amend that -- *robots who drink water and smoke cigars*. The actors either choose to portray a robot by a) staring off blankly into space, b) moving with all the skill and coordination of a landed catfish, or c) acting just like a human being would, trusting in the foley effects crew to add in the Special Robot Sounds (which pretty much just consist of someone running a 9-volt drill). Just about the only saving grace of the movie is seeing that Rutger Hauer can maintiain a form of rugged dignity even when starring in this steaming piece of crap. I really have nothing against horrid movies, but this movie is too drab, dark, bland, boring and dull to even be entertainingly bad. Instead, it's just excruciating. If you paid more than five bucks for this awful thing, you have my deepest condolances.
Rating: Summary: Blind Fury and Omega Dung Review: Blind Fury is still one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid. Rutger Hauer is a great actor, but I hate to see him in (...) like Omega Doom. I was also disappointed that I had to buy Omega with Blind Fury, hence the one star deduction. But I am still glad I know own one of my favorite light hearted action/comedies of all time, Blind Fury. I think anyone who likes humor mixed with good fighting should give it a try.

Rating: Summary: Omega Don't (Show It)_Blind Fun with Fury Review: Did anyone realize that Rutger owes thanks for his swordsmanship on screen to Sho Kosugi for being willing to give him some last minute training for the film? Not to mention Sho played the Yakuza swordsman hired to take out Rutger at the end. Had it not been for Sho Kosugi, Rutger would have had no chance of pulling off some know-how with the sword. The film is fun and quite comedic! Rutger plays a good-hearted blind man in the film and triumphs over the assassin brought in to kill him! I wish they had used Sho more in the storyline. I liked his entrance before the film's final fight sequence!!! Five stars for Sho Kosugi minus two stars due to the unrealistic swordsmanship of a blind Rutger Hauer! Hollywood goes way beyond realism once again. Not that any of Sho's movies didn't lack realism with a hypnotizing ninja in Revenge and ninjas being dragged down the street without his flesh being worn to the bone. What fun those old movies were, huh? Enjoy this one!
Rating: Summary: American Zatoichi Review: For those who don't know, that is a blind swordfighter. Yeah, I know, it sounds either really cool, or really stupid. But it is a pretty entertaining film. The fights are quick and creative, and Hauer is convincing enough as a blind man. It's a nice change to see him play an entirely sympathetic character, given the bad guy roles he is known for playing. This is also one of those films that features an excellent child actor that I have not seen in a long time. His name is Brandon Call and I remember seeing him in several films of the time, but unfortunately he did not make the crossover to adult star. One hopes that this was a choice. For whichever reason, it was a loss, because he gives a full-blown (without being over-the-top) performance as the boy who gets attached to Nick in the search for his father. I don't mention the plot in detail, because there isn't much. It's really just a buddy road picture showcase for the fight scenes. But the performances raise it above the average. Try it out.
Rating: Summary: Unintentionally ridiculous Review: From beginning to end this movie was hilarious. The storyline was trite and predictable. Rutger Hauer's character was an incredibly cheesy, "amazing" blind guy who can wield a sword, tell if you're making faces at him, or find sweaty men eating potato chips in a corn field. The fight scenes were boring, dialogue was pat, and the helpless yet defiant boy in his charge was an obvious ploy to involve the viewer. Great for a laugh or two, but a serious action movie this is not.
