Summary: Very, very disapointing.
Review: After a non stop blast of action and adventure, both story-wise and visually in Trek 2,3 and 4, this film seemed almost insulting. The Story was okay, but had very bad inconsistencies in relation to the history of Star Trek. Shatner directed the movie competently, and there are a few scenes that are very well put together, but generally, it was washed out and had no conviction. Only Scotty was interesting- his waistcoat with toolbelt was a nice idea, and when he was not on screen, the film teeters to an almost crashing bore. Plot details were notr well thought out. How in the name of hell can the Enterprise have seventy odd decks? Most Trek lore holds that it has 23. And how could they get to the centre of the galaxy in just a few hours? Voyager tells us that it would take thirty years to travel that far. And hasn't the Enterprise herself already crossed the Great Barrier. These mistakes are the major reason that film does not even exist in my collection. Plotwise, The Undiscovered Country fits better onto the End of The Voyage Home. As for FX, Frontier's effort is even less convincing that The Original Series! At least the music was good, and this alone gets the film two stars.

Summary: Either you love it or hate it...
Review: After the wonderul Voyage Home, the trek crew engaged in the most light-hearted movies of the series. I personally believe it is the best "long episode" there is. Who cares who directed it, it was a good story and at the heart of Star Trek itself, not one of the other movies examined the relationsships of the crew like this one. And so it gets five stars for the movie and subjects it covered, not for being a "superb" sci-fi flick. And the california sea-lions were fabulous.

Summary: Not as bad As People Say
Review: Yes the plot ain't great. But people are not reviewing what it is that makes this film work. The character development. The film is about kirk Spock and Mcoys journey with themselves, how they view each other and realise who and why they do what the do. great stuff at the start, The boys around the camp fire. seeing our heros talking to each other ,when they're not trying to save the universe is a real treat. This is a fun Movie, with good energy. To all the people who say otherwise, I think they should get out more.Or as shatner Himself put it, get a life.

Summary: Better as a Sum of It's Parts Than as a Whole
Review: Okay, okay. So this film took a nosebleed at the box office, but let's not forget it was released in the summer (June 9) during the reign of "Batman." No "Next Generation" film has dared to go up against the summer blockbuster heavy hitters, but instead Paramount chose winter releases for each film after "V." The silly Klingon subplot, the ridiculous "broken" Enterprise and the over-abundance of ill-placed humor do detract. Shatner ran out of $ to film the gargoyle infested battle scenes in the original script, so we certainly feel like something's missing from the ending. So what's to like? Plenty actually. The actors and characters have never seemed so comfortable with one another. And the insights to the "big three" are emotionally well done. The Yosemite scenes are particularly warm and allow us to sit down with some old friends and have a laugh. This is certainly no "Wrath of Khan" or "First Contact," but it's no "Motion Picture" or "Insurrection" either. Afterall, it's almost worth watching just to hear Kirk ask, "I have a question....what does God need with a starship?"

Summary: To all those ungreatfull startrek fans
Review: Aside from a bit of an odd story line, and a somewhat limp ending whenever I set back with a cool beverage, and spend an evening watching STARTREK 5 I am carried away on a sea of whimsical rapture that only startrek can provide. This movie as a Wonderfull atmosphere. Bill Shatner did the best he could with what he had. What if there was no Startrek 5? In summary: God bless Bill Shatner.

Summary: Underrated Star Trek movie combines fun and adventure...
Review: This is the most "picked on" of the Star Trek movies. William Shatner brings energy and action that had been lacking from the series up untill this point. There are some great character moments, especially for the "big three". The story may have its flaws, but it is fun and interesting. The actors all seemed to be having a good time playing their parts, and it shows in their interactions. This is the lesast "stuffy" of the movie series, and I think that is why many trekkers didn't like it. It is unfortunate because there really are some priceless moments in this film. Shatner's direction a refreshing break from the stiffness of earlier movies. On the downside, the f/x do not deliver, and the ending suffers as such. Also, trying to capitalize on the last film's comic success, studio executives insisted there be a humor element to the film. Unfortunately, it doesn't work in many places. It has become a "bandwagon" phenomenon for hardcore trekkies to pick apart this movie (they're probably still mad at Shatner for telling them to get a life). It's not HALF as bad as they indicate. See for yourself...

Summary: Most brilliant
Review: Shatner did a superb job as director: the camera angles are beautiful--we have a marvelous view of Spock's face, the handsome devil. Moreover, the makeup humbles nature: I'v enever seen more perfectly crafted Vulcan ears. As for the plot, I think its a welcome change from the humanistic if not agnostic leanings of Star Trek; the search for God? What an original idea! Shatner wisely took control of this great action flick that will change your perception of life...forever!

Summary: Not as bad as everyone thinks
Review: The Final Frontier isn't as bad as everyone thinks. If you remember the original series, then you will realize that this movie harkens back to the interplay of the Big 3, Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. Would have been a better film if Paramount wouldn't have cut the budget during production. Shatner's direction is superb.

Review: putred awful waste of celluloid! It's the only movie that has ever given me gas.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: The worst of the Star Trek movies.
Review: This is a movie that starts off well, but after the beginning it progressively gets worse. The opening scene showing Kirk, Spock, and McCoy on shore leave in Earth's Yosemite Park was, in my opinion, the best part of an otherwise worthless movie. After the opening scene on Earth, the plot became so unbelievably stupid that I felt like I was watching one of the more crappy Star Trek episodes instead of a Star Trek movie. After seeing this movie, I sort of got the feeling that it was a movie that was made just for the sake of being made, and not much more. Unless you're a die hard Star Trek fan, don't buy this movie. This one is barely rentable.
