Summary: Photo, details and cast list don't match
Review: As of 31 August 2004, this page's cover photo refers to a Spanish-produced film (entitled 'Stranded: Náufragos' in most parts of the world) featuring Vincent Gallo, although the prominently-displayed cast list of the "editorial review" refers to another film entirely. Amazon have screwed the page up. I wouldn't bother ordering until I knew which film I'd be getting. Likewise, it doesn't make much sense to keep adding reviews for different unspecified films when we don't know which film is actually the subject of this page.

Summary: Conflicted with my overall opinion (spoilers)
Review: First of all, if you dont like space adventure... dont bother. The only thing that kept STRANDED from falling apart, is the thrill behind its space exploration.
Its no secret that this movie is b-grade. It was obvious the moment I left the DVD store. But for many of us, that is no obstacle. So in all fairness, my 3-stars is a refelction of a b-grade movie.

The sripting is unimaginably weak. The characters are downright typical... and the acting... well... it contains some of the worst acting ive seen in the last few years. It really is bad. So much so, that I spent a majority of the movie thinking about how bad it is. Herbert (blonde guy) looked like he had a pole up his butt and at the same time was lifeless! The second in charge blonde girl who assumed the captains's role was absolutely horrendous. She pretty much ruined it for me. I hope that was the end of her crappy career in acting, because, her expressions, actions, response to everything was completely wrong. It really was that bad... I wish the captain had survived so we would have seen less of her.
The others were okay at best, but it was all too ridiculous.

There were just too many ridiculous situations in this movie.
I mean, you have a bunch of astronauts going to mars for the first time... where is the hype. Where is planet earth in all this. If the ship becomes stranded, there is no doubt specialists back on planet earth would be working round the clock to provide ideas for them to survive. Instead they choose to turn off all communication and assume that they need to survive 2.5 years. Because that is how long it would take a recovery unit to reach them, if they started building a second billion dollar space ship right now!
So everything is based on this very premises, and somehow 5 specialist astronauts come to the split second conslusion that 3 of them have to die in order to survive 2.5years.
So here are 5 astronauts trained to the bone, for the first space adventure to mars and they act like school kids when they become stranded. And do any of these people (who have spent their lives for this moment) think about the fact that they have finally made it to mars, the first people! Their dreams have finally come true! Nope... these 5 astronauts... wish they were anywhere but on mars. The idea that this first-time mission could go wrong apparently didnt cross their minds.
The bearded fella is just way too negative about everything. Apparently NASA made a mistake with their employment recruiting!

Everything was made to be so unrealistic. The stepping onto mars, the discoveries... I could keep going on and on. The worst, was the commentary by our little captain as they journey mars. She sounded like a little school girl on a school trip to the zoo. Idiot has probably never thought twice about space and the stars... it shows.

But having said all that... I like my space exploration, and the last 30 minutes of this movie was quite interesting.
If you like space\planet exploration. Read RAMA by Arthur C. Clarke and you will be absolutely on the edge of your seat. And get some idea about how astronauts truly go about there business.

Summary: Survivor: Mars
Review: I don't know where to begin on this, but the film started out with a shuttle crash while the film itself continued to even crash further during it's 99 minute of runtime. Don't get me wrong here, while I typically enjoy watching some B and C rated films - I had to force myself to finish watching this movie.

This film is actually beyond a B and C genre. By far, the script itself lacked any character depth or development. The plot had plenty of potential, but pretty died along the opening scenes of the crash landing. You can tell that there were some elements of other previous Mars films like "Mission to Mars" or "Red Planet".

To even further boot that poorly scripted screenplay; where in the world did they get these actors? I have seen plenty of Vincent Gallo's work, but my god man - quit while you still can. His acting style hasn't changed one bit and is still as cheesey when I first saw him in "Buffalo 66" and "Goodfellas".

Obviously, looking at the lead female - who happened to spearhead this project, actress/director María Lidón as a worried, troubled, "captain goes down with the ship" attitude is by far overrated. Her lack of acting expression also reflects that as a director. A 2nd year film student could have salvage this crappy script and turned in into something watchable. By far, Lidón's nothing more that a cute looking chick donning the early Sharon Stone hair cut.

Maria de Medeiros ["Pulp Fiction" - the french girlfriend to Bruce Willis's character] is so pathetic. Someone please just give her a blueberry pie!

As for the rest of the cast - equally a disappointment.

Save your money!

Summary: Good movie, bad DVD
Review: I enjoyed this film very much... although it bears hardly any resemblance to the original film or book, it's very cleverly done. Plus, it doesn't hurt that the guys in this film are very good looking... wink wink.

The DVD however... total bomb. There is nothing in it except the 'scene selection' and 'play film' options. I would have loved to have seen deleted scenes, or making-of's. I would have loved to see more of Andrew Lee-Potts (Jacob) seeing as he was my favorite character... but since the film itself is so good, I give the DVD 4 stars.

Summary: stranded
Review: in my opinion this movie was very exciting. There were many different mood swings But in the beging when they were on the ship it was a little too dark to see. So that makes the eyes stranded a little. If you are on the "edge" about this movie i reconmend that you see it. If you don't mind a little violence you should see it. In the hole movie i only counted 2 murders. Although the movie isn't rated (i mean G, PG, PG-13, R OR X)i would rate it probaly rate it PG-13.

Summary: A better less judgemental Swiss Family Robinson
Review: The film I saw (on DVD) was inspired by the book Swiss Family Robinson. The father, a preacher, is sentenced to life in Australia for refusing to declare loyalty to the crown. The family choses to go with him into exile. On the way a storm destroys the ship. The youngest son gets to the boats and is separated from his family. The family lands on an island and has to come to understand each other and rely on their skills and knowledge. The father learns that he is not all knowing and all powerful. Each of the children learn and grow. They survive and through an unlikely series of events are finally reunited.

It's not high drama but it is a good family film that is fun to watch with no expectations.

Summary: Couldn't even finish this movie
Review: Their lines were so bad. Astronauts go to some planet and go "What is this? That's weird." Dude, astronauts are smarter than that! It was just so bad that I couldn't even finish the movie.

Summary: Great Film!
Review: This movie was absolutely captivating. From the very beginning my attention was caught and lasted throughout the entire film. The whole build-up of the Jacob storyline was what really moved me. The one thing that prevented me from giving it 5 stars was how the ending seemed a bit rushed. I feel they should have explored the feelings of all members of the family a bit more. I would love for them to make a sequel to this film about Sarah, Jacob, and Earnst going back into society. But all in all, it was a truely moving movie.

Summary: Would rather give birth than see again
Review: This sucks raw hind end. It was infested with the worst acting you could possibly witness. Imagine third graders reading the lines: monotone, dry, deplorable. I can't imagine why on earth the producers didn't try to launch this thing into orbit before it ever made the stores. The special effects were substandard for even a 70s scifi flick. Toward the end of the movie, I wanted to hurt these people. I think I'll go kill myself now so I won't think about it any more. Don't watch it.

Summary: Great movie
Review: This was a wonderful movie and I would highly recommend it, yet it is not for young children, it is very different from the Swiss Family Robinson. It is not as happy but more exciting and there are a lot of new twists. The 3 brothers are very very nice on the eyes so if you don't like the movie you will still enjoy the view.

Another Hallmark production that I would Highly recommmend is the 10th kingdom, it was fabulous to say the least.
