Review: Two hapless buddies (Jerry O'Connell & Anthony Anderson) are forced by a mod boss (Oscar-Winner:Christopher Walken) to go in Sydney, Australia to bring $50,000 to a local mobster (Marton Csokas). But when they accidently hit on thier truck is a Speedy Marsupial, thinking that the animal is dead. Kangaroo is been knock-out and then accidently stolen the money, which they were supposed to bring. Two friends are trying to get back the money with the help of a wild-life woman (Estella Warren) to get the money back before the two friends are in deep trouble.Directed by David McNally (Coyote Ugly) made a funny, entertaining film (Although the Scatological Humor is Greatly Overdone). Which is worth seeing for adults & kids. This is a Box Office Success, which is Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Bad Boys 1 & 2, Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, The Rock). This film is from a story by Steve Bing (Missing in Action 1 & 2) & Terry O'Brien (T.V. Writer for Judging Amy). The Written Screenplay is by Bing & Scott Rosenberg (Beautiful Girls, Con Air, Disturbing Behavoir). O'Connell & Anderson make a funny comic pair. Walken has a 10-Minute role in this film. DVD has an terrific anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and an fine-Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD has Two Commentaries Tracks by the Filmmakers & Cast, Behind the Scenes featurettes and more. Do not miss this enjoyable guilty pleasure romp. Panavision. Grade:A-.

Summary: Is it Truely a Childrens Film, or even a family film?
Review: Kangarro Jack is for the record a funny movie, but not PG funny. Has movie ratings gone so soft that a movie that clearly would of been PG-13 less than 5 years now only a PG movie. Not sure what I am talking about, let me explain. Kangaroo Jack is about a group of buds who lose $50,000 to a Kangaroo. Now the back story is that JErry O'Connell is a hair stylist!? who step dad (Christopher Walken) runs a mafia inside of NEw York. After his bud screws up a job for Walken they are given one last chance at redemption. A simple job that requires delivering $50,000.00 to a client in Australia. Along they way the end up losing the cash and are being pursued by the mafia and the client. THeir only hope is to get the cash back. Along the way they meet the hot chick who helps them catch the Kangaroo. Now here is why I say that a few years ago this would of been PG-13. Lets start with the obviouse, language. FOr a movie targeted towards children there sure as hell is a lot of profanity, toilet humor, and sexual dialouge. Here is an example of a funny line, but not an approriate one for a kids movie "We are experienceing an intimate Non Gay Moment". Then there is a scene where the hot chick is washing off some berry juice (One of their tactics to try and catch it) and the way the scene is shot, the shadows imply that she is topless. But then we see it is only a wet T-SHirt. IT is also at that point that she and JErry O'Connell start making out. These are just a few examples of why this movie is not a PG movie, and even if it is it sure as hell is not for kids. The movie is funny, but I would not take kids younger than 12 to see this.

Review: The commercials were a turnoff. The jokes were a turnoff. The actors were a turnoff. Conan O-Brian, for once, was right. This movie is not worth your money, time, or thought. Did the Raspberry Awards catch this one? I hope so.

Summary: "Extremely funny, though I don't agree with the rating..."
Review: Don't get me wrong, Kangaroo Jack was extremely funny. I laughed enough to last me three days, but I do agree with other reviewers, there is too much profanity and sexual humor to allow a PG rating. I'd go for a PG-13, but I guess, the humor isn't that bad. And then again, PG means Parental Guidance Suggested. Oh, and Donster, you need to lighten up, dude, you let your kids watch a teen slasher flick but not a mild comedy, you need counseling. Anyway, moving on, I thought this movie was very funny, in fact, I thought it was so good that I went to it three times. My favorite comedy scenes were when Louis (Anderson) and Charlie (O'Connel) were in the bathroom on the airplane talking about the money, but the flight attendants believed they were talking about "things" (that would be PG-13 comedy). The other would probably be G comedy, but still extremely funny, is the very loud and nauseating farts that these camels rip. OMG, I could swear that the next theatre over probably heard it. Okay, well, pretty much the only thing to review about this is the comedy, so I'll leave all other aspects to your thoughts and opinions. Thanks for reading.

Summary: Uninspired: Bruckheimer's "Family Picture" Is No Fun
Review: No fun, I say, probably even for kids, for the plot is not simple and the situation is too labored. New York city hairstylist Jerry O'Connell and his buddy Anthony Anderson get in trouble when they accidentally caused a big financial damage to the local mobster (and Jerry's step-father) Christopher Walken. Walken (who obviously does not read script before signing contract), orders the two bumbling Americans to deliver a bag of $50,000 to Australia. Now, they arrive at Sydney, but soon loses the money in the most ridiculous and incredible way -- a kangaroo wearing a red jacket that contains the envelope runs away in the middle of the deserts! In the meanwhile, unknown to them, gangsters are also sent there to follow Jerry and Anthony, possibly to get rid of them. The cartoonish idea of two adults chasing the hopping kangaroo is not a bad one, but there is no fun in the chase scenes which are shot like an action movie. Such classic cartoons featuring Road Runner or Willy O Coyote are far superior and ingenious, and the director David McNally (of, incidentaly, the ordinary drama "Coyote Ugly" fame) should have learned a thing or two from these masterpieces. I see nothing great in actors; they are just OK. Jerry O'Connell looks better than in cult comedy "Tomcats" and Anderson is always fun to watch even though his character (and Jerry's too) tend to scream to each other (like ten times) without particular meaning. Thankfully, Oscar winner (yes, he was, in "Deerhunter") Christopher Walken fare better simply because his role is small, and you get lovely Estella Warren and her swimming in the water (in the middle of Australia, right?) is eye candy for adults. As is often the case with Bruckheimer films, the film is costly, and you can feel it everywhere. The city of "New York" is actually made in Sidney with the yellow cabs brought to the place for that purpose only, and "Kangaroo Jack" is convincingly made when he (and his pals) speak in rap music. But the awfully insipid and uninspired gags and actions are boring to me, and the character actors like Bill Hunter or Marton Csokas are painfully wasted.

Summary: One of the Most Surprising Entertainers of 2003!
Review: When this film came out in theaters I thought it looked too darn silly. Tonight I saw it on Cinemax for the first time and found it very entertaining and funny. The commercial advertisement for the movie did cheat. They made it seem like Kangaroo Jack would be talking all through the film. It turned out he only talked in Charlie's ( Jerry O' Connell ) dream. This film is a very new approach to comedy. You don't get the cliched formula of most buddy films. Unlike other actors who've tackled the buddy films, ( Eddie Murphy & Owen Wilson, Chris Tucker & Charlie Sheen, Skeet Ulrich & Cuba Gooding Jr. ), Anthony Anderson and Jerry O'Connell are the only two I've seen with TRUE chemistry since the good old days of Pryer and Wilder. Both actors are hilarious in their roles. There are a few plot holes when it comes to the criminals in the end but this film is so entertaining you won't care if it gets a little unbelievable. You'll just want to go along with the ride. I strongly recommend this for comedy lovers and fun films for the family. Enjoy! Good clean fun!

Review: A one-joke premise is what describes the plot of KANGAROO JACK, a predictable low-brow film that is helped by the two main characters in the film, Charlie and Louis (Jerry O'Connel, and Anthony Anderson respectively). Jerry O'Connel is good at playing the loveable timid good guy (as he did way back in STAND BY ME) so, he was perfectly cast is this film. Anthony Anderson can play all types of personas, in different types of films (dramas, comedies etc..), so this wasn't much of a stretch to play off O'Connel's character and the two have pretty good onscreen chemistry.The two are sent to Australia by Charlie's gangster stepdad, Sal (Christopher Walken in a thankless cameo)to deliver a cash package to a certain Mr. Smith. As the two arrive down under and drive the outback, by some dumb-tourist-luck, the money ends up hopping away on a certain kangaroo along with Louis' "lucky jacket". They hire a pilot to fly the territory to find the marsupial, and finally enlist the aid of an American wildlife expert, Jessie (Estella Warren) to help them find the errant kangaroo. Warren's character is also very endearing and not too hostile as she empathizes quickly to the plight of her cohorts and helps them out. The three form an immediate (predictable..yet effective) bond and friendship. The kangaroo is obviously CGI which is purposely made to act a little cartoony because of the nature of the film and the movie has a predictable premise which is clearly stated because Walken's character is a mob boss. The film fairly works due to the likeability of the trio's partnership. It is fun and harmless entertainment with some great Australian outback scenery, some pretty good comedy and action sequences, and a predictable happy ending.

A quick paced action comedy about a modern Abbott (Charlie - Jerry O'Connell) and Costello (Louis - Anthony Anderson) duet who bumble themselves from Brooklyn to Australia to deliver $50,000 of mob money - not knowing it's a one way trip! Good quick script dialog and action keeps the movie going with no slow period. O'Connell and Anderson really have great on-screen comedic chemistry. I have to believe they will be doing a lot more together. Story:
Of course, these two city-slicker bumbler best friends lose $50,000 in a jacket now worn by a kangaroo, have two sets of mobsters who want to finish them off, and are "fish-out-of-water" lost in the outback trying to find Kangaroo Jack with the help of a beautiful and charming naturalist (Estella Warren). Laugh-o-meter: Off the charts! My handicapped daughter Rebecca still splits her sides watching this one! She loves it at night after her homework, at the clinic during her therapies, and any other time she can get it! And, the slapstick is still funny! Rebecca is exceptionally clever with a good mature slapstick sense of humor - even if she's only 8! Our other kids really liked the movie too! Kids Warning: There is potty humor here... but it is in the Australian vernacular that kids cannot understand. The violence is really slapstick kind of stuff, even though the main protagonists are in mortal danger. No one gets shot, but there are a couple of punches thrown.

Summary: Great Outback Scenes, Lousy Movie
Review: My little tidbit review: If you want to know what the Australian Outback really looks like, rent the movie because it's obvious from the shots that it was actually filmed there (I've done a fair bit of driving through the Northern Territory, and saw many familiar landmarks). You'll enjoy the scenery. However, if it's an entertaining story you want, read the Amazon.com review -- it's pretty accurate. The plot is a real stinker, and the animated kangaroo doesn't have the personality the previews would make you believe (all of the kangaroo's talking scenes are from a dream sequence by the main character).

Jerry O'Connell isn't great,but Anthony Anderson is hilarious.
The movie is about Charlie (O'Connell) who has to deliver some money to a man in Australia for his step father Sal (Christopher Walken),when his friend Louis (Anderson) gets him in trouble.
When the two bumbling idiots hit a kangaroo and put Louis's
red jacket on the jacket which has the money in it,they realize the kangaroo is not dead and they begin a chase to get the money back.Now Kangaroo Jack looks nothing like a real kangaroo and is more in the Scooby-Doo category but the movie is entertaining and has a great supporting cast including Estella Warren who is beautiful in the movie.This isn't exactly a family movie with some jokes in it that would offend prissy parents but the movie is good and worth renting.
