Summary: The best part is watching the cliches fight for dominance
Review: This movie goes way off the unintentional comedy scale. A rag-tag group of survivors, containing every possible patented Hollywood character, from the dignified elderly to the know-it-all WASP and the fiesty token minority, are subjected to a truly hilarious disaster that makes the Poseidon Adventure look like Citizen Kane. My favorite part of this film is the invincible dog. You can always tell a Hollywood hackjob by the invincible dog, which always survives everything and is, gosh, just so darn *cute* that you're supposed to get all weepy with relief when it survives through to the credits. A classic example is the golden retriever in Independence Day that, in an awe-inspiring display of poor blue screening, somehow jumps out of the way of a fireball that just destroyed Los Angeles..and of course just at the last moment. A cousin of that redoubtable pup is found here, where it actually disappears for half the movie and then suddenly comes paddling out of nowhere in a moment that is clearly intended to be triumphant, but is just flat out funny. It's long been known that people watching a movie react far more emotionally to injuries to dogs than to people, but you've stooped pretty darn low when you have to fall back on that as a plot device.

Summary: not the best film, but the special effects are mindblowing!
Review: This movie has a good but not great plot element to it. The acting was also not the best, but the special effects for the tunnel explosion are some of the most incredible I have ever seen!

I didn't really like this movie ia a favorie but I bought the DVD - just for the explosion scene alone. I watch it frame by frame on my dvd player.

The filmmakers even said that they wanted the fire to have a plasma like look to it and they did a really good job at it! In my opinion, the special effects in that scene are one of the best pyrotechnics displays in cinematic history!

Summary: Great Disc!!
Review: This was actually the very first movie I bought on DVD (admittedly one reason being it was one of only a few movies available for sale where I got my player, and I had to have something to play right away; I also ran this movie in a theater in DTS and knew it would be a good way to show off the new sound system I'd also just gotten) Being a fan of the great 70's disaster films like "Earthquake", I was glad to see this as the first of a brief revival of the genre (unfortunately none fared too well at the box office.) This concerns some people driving through a tunnel who are suddenly trapped inside due to a freak accident. As is pointed out by the director's commentary, there is no real "villain" in the movie other than the circumstances themselves. The 6-track sound is extremely well done and will make you feel trapped underground with the film's characters, and has an excellent music score by Randy Edelman, which you can hear isolated portions of played during the disc's menus. In addition to the director's commentary (which provides lots of interesting bits about the hows and whys of the movie) dubbed soundtracks in both Spanish and French are also available (in standard Pro-Logic surround.) The disc is rounded out with a making-of feature showing the actual sets that were built (and destroyed!) as well as storyboards, two theatrical trailers, and a music video by Donna Summer for the song played during the end credits that has nothing to do with the movie itself. This project was originally done as a laserdisc box set, and nicely packed into one DVD. A great way to experience the potential of the format itself as well as how well home Dolby AC-3 sound duplicates the theatrical soundtracks.

Summary: Awesome Sound!
Review: This was the first DTS DVD I ever got. My favorite part is the 30-second DTS intro: awesome sound. The movie itself is not as satisfying. At 1 hour 55 minutes, it feels too long. The "diverse band of survivors" is, in my opinion, too diverse: it has everyone from the stuffy aristocrats to the juvenile punks in the tunnel at the same time, and none of them can be sympathized with. The cinematography is decent, but the music -- well, let's just say that not every movie can have a great score. It's tedious and repetitive -- hard to tell when it's supposed to be sad, suspenseful, or inspirational. Overall, a ** movie at best, worth *** because of the DTS.

Summary: "Daylight" hopefully marks the end of the "Disaster" genre
Review: To say that this is the worst movie Sylvester Stallone has ever been in may seem like an overstatement, (after all this is the star of "Over the Top", and "Tango and Cash"). However, it certainly does feel like the worst Stallone movie ever made. At least, Stallone's other movies were so bad that you could laugh at them. No such luck with "Daylight". This movie is really, really long and very, very boring. I honestly kept hoping that the roof would cave in on these characters, killing them all instantly and saving me the anguish of having to endure another minute of this garbage. No such luck! Watching this movie is like experiencing a slow death.

Summary: Tunnels scare me now!
Review: whenever I watch this movie I wonder what are the possibilities of something bad happening whenever I go through a tunnel. You never know what could happen in a tunnel such as cars smashing into a wall, an explosion, falling water, or car accidents. this movie really made me think of the incidents that could happen in tunnels. This movie focuse on a bombing of the Holland tunnel in New York. Only over ten people survived the explosion and must find a way out of the tunnel. A person that helps them is
Mr. Latura(Sylvester Stallon)who is a former Emergency Medical Services cheif. The characters really face dangers in the movie such as toxic fumes, fires, falling water, and collapes of the tunnel! You will really like this movie because it is suspensful and emotional! Imagine being trapped in a tunnel all night long and you can't go home until you see daylight!

Summary: I enjoyed it.
Review: Yes, if you've seen one disaster movie, you've seen them all! I'm not even a Sylvester Stallone fan. I did, however, like this movie. Even though it is predictable, it was action packed. There was also the human compassion element that we can never see too much of. Maybe that's why there are so many disaster movies--to remind us of the compassion we can display in times of trouble. Overall, I recommend this movie.
