Review: Inane dialogue, bad acting, implausible plotting....and most egregious of all, dull dull dull. It was so snoozy I spent the film waiting to see how the next actor would pronounce "D'Artagnan". Heck no two of them pronounced it the same way twice. An unneeded umpeenth remake not saved by Hong Kong fight choreography. Stick with the Richard (?) Lester films from the 1970s with Michael York, Oliver reed and Raquel Welch.Off with their heads!

Summary: Good combination of Action and Comedy
Review: It is a really interesting film with a mixture of speedy action and some funny jokes. Some scenes kinda reminds me of "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", but I like this one better, cuz it's more natural than Crouching tiger hidden dragon. It also has a good story line, which makes hole bunch of actions scenes vivid and thrilling. Furthermore, one of the actress in this film(I don't know her name) is really beautiful. So, even if you aren't interested in this film, it's still worth watching......NOT??
Well, just watch it and have a great time!!

Summary: This is the worst movie I have ever seen
Review: The movie did have some decent fight sceens, but they were very short and definetly not worth the wait. I don't normally pan any movie but this one was really bad. The acting was unbelievable and flat and the plot was completly unbelievable and just plain stupid. I spent most of the evening shaking my head and almost crying that I wasted 7 dollars on this movie. Save your money and stare at the wall, it's better entertainment.

Summary: Adventure, Swordplay, and . . . Darkness?
Review: Going in to this movie, I was unsure of what to expect. On one hand, the previews made it look incredible with its amazing swordplay and fight choreography. On the other hand, I've been suckered into more than one movie because the trailer looks good, but the movie has nothing else to offer. I am pleased to announce that the fight sequences live up to everything promised in the trailer. This take on the classic The Three Musketeers by Dumas focuses more on the adventures of D'Artagnan than Athos, Porthos, and Aramas. In fact, the one downside of this movie is that the rich story becomes nothing more than a method to present the fight sequences. The opening establishes when it just glosses over the fact that D'Artagnan's parents are killed by Febre, a malevolent rouge played to the hilt by Tim Roth. Roth manages to make his character drip with a delightful mix of evil and amusement. You can tell he enjoys this role. Mena Suvari is a waste of a character as the tavern girl who has ties to the Queen whom D'Artagnan rescues from her lecherous uncle, but that entire subplot is also glossed over. I found myself wishing the plot would hurry up so that D'Artagnan would have another reason to fight, for that is where this movie shines. The choreography is beautiful in its inventiveness and ability to get the pulse racing. Sword fights are held on ladders, barrels, tower walls, and wherever else D'Artagnan can manage to be attacked. The only complaint I have with the action is that it is held in darkened surroundings to cover the fact that D'Artagnan is being played by a stunt double. A few times the dark kind of hid what was going on, but it wasn't enough to detract from the movie. Overall, this is one of those movies you go to see with a bunch of friends so you can marvel at how good the stuntmen are and how much fun a movie can be. Thinking is forbidden. Just enjoy.

Review: . Although I consider the Richard Lester Musketeer movies to be The Definitive Musketeers, I was still looking forward to a new take on the classic story.
. Alas, despite Peter Hyams' beautiful cinematography, the satisfying authenticity of the actual-period European locations, and a clever fight director, "The Musketeer" suffers from culture clash and some flat-out mistakes.
. As fashionable and fresh (for Western audiences) as "Hong Kong style" fight arrangement is, Chinese fantasy fighting just does not fit into Cavalier boots and fleurs-de-lis. The fact that during the climactic ladder fight the audience gets a clear view of the Asian fight doubles' faces doesn't help. The rope fight ends up just looking silly.
. Also, being able to see Tim Roth's contact lens's edges kind of suspends one's disbelief over too steep a cliff. It distracts. I shouldn't be noticing makeup when I should be involved in story instead.
. Oddly enough, as if the teenager audience this is blatantly targeted at could tell the difference, both Febre ("fever," I believe, Dickensian naming) and Francesca are written/played as the "descendants" of original Musketeers characters: Rochefort - now not much more than a posturing cameo - and D'Artagnan's lady-love, Constance de Bonancieux's, niece. Why? It's not like Constance could have aged; they could have written her as unmarried to avoid the adultery issue.
. Speaking of Roth, he's a delightful villan, and the facial hair suits his looks well. Catherine Deneuve, gracing this film with her presence, is a clever queen; and we cheer for Mena Suvari's spunky (yeah, it's the right word) romantic-interest lady-in-waiting - even if we don't understand why she's not Constance. D'Artagnan himself, Justin Chambers, is passable but not terribly distinguished.
. I feel it's worth waiting for discount tickets or cable; despite the eye candy, it's not worth full price in any format.

Summary: DON'T WASTE MY TIME!
Review: I had high hopes for this movie, but it was over run by a very boring/common story: A boy's parents were killed by some guy and he wants to seek revenge. Terrible acting (except for Tim Roth) and a boring story makes this a sleeper. Fight scenes were the only good things about this movie. There's no moves we haven't seen before though. Pretty impressive choreography. Bad character development. See this movie only for the sword fighting.

Review: I went to see The Musketeer on opening night and I thought that it was really fun. The fight scenes were great & the characters were likable. My companions didn't seem to like it that much, saying that it wasn't realistic enough. Story was predictable, but still fun.
