Summary: Ghosts Of Mars: Hauntingly Rewatchable
Review: For some reason I can't stop watching this movie. Yes, I must admit, this movie is really entertaining...Despite it's cheesy portrayal of life on Mars. Something about this movie just makes me sit down and watch it whenever it's on. It might be the fact that the movie knows exactly what it is -- A B-movie sci-fi flick. It doesn't try to be anything else. And, not only is Natasha Henstridge portrayal of a Mars cop really cool, she's also damn fun to watch because she's incredibly beautiful. When watching this movie, don't get distracted by the improbable plot, concentrate on the cool characters and the great performances by the cast. The movie is loaded with memorable characters, including Ice Cube's Desolation Williams. And most importantly, the movie never takes itself too seriously, which is perfect for a movie of this sort.

John Carpenter is the best at creating fun-to-watch characters straight out of a comic book. Please give the movie a chance. It gets better the more you watch it.

Also, the constant screaming of "Mahwah, mahwah" by Bid Daddy Mars is kinda funny. Whatever he's screaming he certainly means it! Don't mess with the Ghosts Of Mars! For some reason I can't stop watching this movie. Yes, I must admit, this movie is really entertaining...Despite its cheesy portrayal of life on Mars. Summary: Truly Awful
Review: John Carpenter is a very uneven director, even in a genre where the standards are too often low. The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness were outstanding--suspenseful, artistic in their look, disturbing and unsettling in a way that left the audience not quite sure where things were going. In particular, the design and special effects were superb for their time. But in other films, such as Vampires and Ghosts of Mars, he misses completely. There is nothing new to the look of these films, nothing special about the storyline, nothing unique or even interesting about the special effects. Ghosts of Mars is truly an awful movie, even for a B horror film. Aside from the lunacies of the story, the fact is that there is no suspense at all. The tale is told as a flashback from Natasha Henstridge's character's viewpoint, and while the fate of a single character is somewhat uncertain, we're sure at the beginning that most everyone is cannon fodder. The monsters look like a cross between Alice Cooper, TNA Wrestlers, and the Orcs from Lord of the Rings--except the Orcs look better and are more frightening. The suspense seems to consist of wondering how many more monsters Carpenter can pile into the mob--Night of the Living Dead was a lot more atmospheric and effective. So there's one reason, and one reason only, to see this film--Natasha Henstridge. She's gorgeous, plain and simple. But whether that's enough reason to buy the DVD, I doubt.

Summary: MARGWAR?
Review: ....That seems to be all the "villians" of the movie can pronounce. And why exactly does "mars" look like a bad 80's movie? all things I will explain to you in this review.Going through the library and choosing some movies to rent regardless of what I'd heard of it (hey there free why not?) I stumbled upon this "horror" movie (if you could call it that) and decided to rent it.Trust me, I regret even giving it a glance on the shelf. The movie starts off average and goes down hill from there, alot of it makes no sense and is thrown togeather really poorly. The whole story is about how mine workers on mars (or a poor 80's movie set) dig into some sort of mineshaft, underground temple, forgoten bathroom stall, whatever and get "overtaken" by an unseen force which makes them turn into "the ghoasts of mars".Major problem, the rate at which people get posessed, the ones who were exposed to it directly took a fiew hours to apparently become posessed where as the ones fighting the mobs of ghoasts, washed up actors, whatever turn in mere SECONDS.Thats movie magic for you people at home, but this is by FAR not the only problem with this movie. Also, whats that guys problem with his obsession with the blond person? and why in the middle of the movie does she all of a sudden just DECIDE its a great idea to go fool around with him? aren't they still being paid to "fear for there lives"? Ohwell I hate this movie.By the time the half way mark on my tape player showed up the end was no place in site and I was almost bored to tears. The more appropreate title for this movie would be "The neverending story of the mob of washed up janatorial workers/actors/irratating man in a loincloth screaming MAGWAR! at the top of there lungs".Yes I know its a bit on the long side but think of the LIVES that could be saved just by telling people not to watch this, that my friends would justify the long title. In short learning to bend spoons with your mind, sleeping, even learning the most obsolete language on earth is a more productive use of your time.

Summary: OH MY GOD!
Review: GOSH! THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES EVER! I'M GLAD I DIDN'T WATCH IT IN A THEATRE. I COULDN'T EVEN SIT THROUGH THE WHOLE MOVIE. PURE GARBAGE.

Summary: Great Entertainment
Review: This movie was a great action/adventure. It wasn't too serious and it didn't try to be too scary. If you are a fan of John Carpenter or action films, this movie is well worth a look.

Summary: It's not their planet anymore
Review: John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars has pretty much everything I'm looking for in a Horror film. A barely plausible storyline, Wisconsin-French dialogue (Cheez-ay!), non-stop action, gore, eye candy (Natasha "Shoulda Got Naked Like She Did in Species" Henstridge), and a killer soundtrack.

"Whatever used to live here we woke it up."

The cast is great, Ice Cube as Desolation Williams and Mrs. Henstridge as Melanie Ballard are awesome in their roles. Pam Grier has a head supporting role, and her best line is "Who goes there?" which is a sly nod from Carpenter to his insane masterpiece The Thing (based on the story Who Goes There?).

Decapitations, body mutilations, an angry army of Martian Ghost Zombies and plenty of jolts make this a worthy 98 minute diversion. Watching this you can just tell that everyone was enjoying the hell out of making the film. Which is the best part about seeing a Carpenter movie, you know that big studio tampering was either kept to a minimum or eliminated altogether. A masterful mix of sci-fi and horror that seems destined to become a cult favorite, just like John Carpenter.
Any fan of no brainer popcorn flicks should check this movie out.

Summary: More like Zombies of Mars!
Review: Well I would say there is alot of blood and gore in this movie. Just what you would get in a John Carptender movie. I think this movie is more like Resident Evil movie. They fight, they swear, they kick but! The movie is somewhat interesting but some parts are just plain BORING! I mean there is alot of talking. I think Ice Cube did a good job in this but did better in Friday movies. But if you like jumpy, fighting, swearing, movies, watch this one. You never know.

Summary: Ghosts of Mars
Review: This movie is stupid.

The plot could work and the actors might work. Of course,
they might have to smudge their makeup and then they might
miss lunch.

I saw Carpenter describing his artistic vision for the film
. What a crock.

Summary: Waste of time!
Review: This is one of those movies in where you sit and keep watching and watching and watching, hoping that its going to get better. Well, unfortunately, it's a big waste of time. I am a John Carpenter fan, so it pains me to say these things.

Summary: John Carpenter
Review: There is no one else that can set a mood for an erie movie better then John Carpenter. You could probably sit down and just listen to the soundtracks of "Halloween", "Ghosts of Mars", and "Escape from New York" and be frightened. It's hard not to give this mivie away by describing the plot, so I won't. Natasha Henstridge is the main character and she is hot and a bad (character)atthe same time, I've always had a thing for her. Ice Cube plays a convincing part as a bad guy who really might not be as bad as his reputation. Pam Grier is very cool as the ranking officer in this movie, but will she last. I consider this movie to be more of a horror flick then a sci-fi job but if you like either one I sudjest you see this movie.
