Summary: David Bowie is a King!
Review: Labyrinth is a masterpiece! It caused me to have a crush on David Bowie that will not go away!

Sarah gets frustrated that she is always watching her baby brother and wishes that he would disappear to the Goblin City. Her wish comes true and she then gets a crystal ball from Goblin King (Bowie) and has so long to find Toby (her brother). During Sarah's adventure she encounters many personalities that are interesting and also frustrating to her journey. Hoggle is Sarah's biggest help in the end and he helps Sarah along the path and gets punished for his act. There is a lot of great music in this movie (soundtrack is recommended) and you get caught up in the fantasy of this movie! I have loved it since I saw it as a kid in the 80's and continue to love it as strongly as I did then! I recommend this for anyone who likes fantasy movies!

Summary: Great acting, dull plot, and terrible special effects
Review: This movie is kind of cheesy. I think that the creatures are puppets which makes it even cheesier. There was no plot whatsoever. The storyline was boring. All it was about was a girl who wishes her brother away to the goblins in one of her books. Then she has to find her brother. The goblin king captured the kid. Now the girl must go through a labyrinth to get to the goblin king's castle. Their are weird characters and they look very cheesy. I didn't enjoy this movie very much. If you like weird fiction, this movie might be for you but if not, I would urge you not to get it.

Summary: A great fantasy
Review: "Labyrinth" is about young Sarah (a teenaged Jennifer Connelly) who loves her world of magic and fantasy. But real lofe keeps intruding, and finally when she has had enough, she jokingly wishes that her baby brother Toby, whom she must baby sit, would be taken away by goblins. Much to her horror, he is kidnapped by the Goblin King (David Bowie). Now she has 13 hours to navigate the labyrinth to the center to the King's castle before Tobe is turned into a goblin forever. This is certainly a childrens movie, but most adults should get a kick out of it too, especially those who like "Lord of the Rings". I think the story is to some degree based on the Greek Myth of Theseus and the labyrinth underneath Athens. The story is pretty good, but it is the production design that is really the star of the show. At the head of the movie is Muppet creater Jim Henson (RIP). Also in the background is George Lucas. With talent such as this behind the camera, "Labyrinth" was a sure hit as for quality sets and imagination. I thought it was great; the most convincing set designed forest since Ridley Scott's "Legend". The characters (except Connelly and Bowie) are all wonderful, yes they do not look as realistic as Yoda or Golom, but I really thought that the depth of character and their voices carried a lot of emotion that carried them a long way. I really liked The King, and Bowie was a good choice for the role. I think that he was picked because he is the only popular singer alive who can sing about outer space and fantasy worlds conviningly. And my god, what a mullet!!! Connelly was alright, she played her role adaquetly, although at that point in her career she hasn't learned how to really bring LIFE to a bland character. But that one little problem can be over looked in the grand scheme of things.

Summary: Dance magic dance!
Review: This is the best movie ever! I've watched it a billion times since I was about 5 years old, and it never gets old. All of the songs are great, and theres one that I love. Someone who reviewed this was right, though, about the scene where the orange firey creatures throw their heads......it scared me when I was little and my mom had to fast forward it for me! I still don't like that one part, but other than that, it's a "must buy!" I've made a few of my friends (when I got older) watch it because they had never heard of it, and they loved it too. The best! :o)

Summary: Beats Computer Graphics.....
Review: As a child I loved this movie....now, as an adult when I understood that all these magical creatures are HANDMADE, I have a completely newfound respect for it....there are not enough stars to rate this movie!!! It makes me sad that computer graphics have taken over the world of fantasy movies...there really is something more realistic about something being made of actual materials.(also Brian Froud is a pure genius!!)
