Summary: Why I taped this movie
Review: I taped this movie for one reason: Russell Crowe. Not only is he gorgeous, he's my age & he can act. He could have done without the sideburns, though, in this one. Not the worse movie ever made, but the husband in it needs a doctor.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Enjoyed this one immensley
Review: I thought this movie showcased Russell Crowe's acting ability very well. The movie itself, I realized, after watching it twice, has underlying theme about Karma and how your actions affect the world around you, no one lives in a bubble and and pain creates it's own energy that won't rest.

Summary: Don't Forget to Remember Me
Review: If you're like me, looking for something unconventional, checking out the foreign movie section or sundance favorites, then I recommend this movie. I rented this movie about 4 years ago and turned into a Russell Crowe fan. I remember this movie as an entertaining Australian road movie but not as violent as the first Mad Max. The story was filled with a likeable protagonist in disturbing circumstances. The movie is good but I must say that Russell Crowe made it memorable.

Summary: Unconventional Romance
Review: Like most of the films Russell Crowe made in Australia, Heaven's Burning flies off in directions that you would never have guessed. While it is mainly a romance, it's memorable for its sick sense of humor. This movie revels in the absurd, never taking itself too seriously. The plot is over-the-top, and the actors are smart enough to play their characters straight (with the exception of the vengeful husband, and ex Men-At-Work frontman Colin Hay's verbally abusive, wheelchair-driving hitchhiker). Even the movie's premise is a surprise, and therefore I don't want to reveal it. If you are only familiar with Russell Crowe's American films, Heaven's Burning is a great place to start viewing his Australian filmography. While the ending is a bit predictable and slightly unsatisfying, it is a wild, wild ride up to that point. This movie is kind of the middle of the road, as far as Crowe's characters go. He's not the lovable sweetie of Proof or Sum of Us, and he's not the agressive powerhouse of Romper Stomper or L.A. Confidential. Rather, he's something in between, but just as magnetic. I apologize for my rather vague review, but this movie really needs to seen the first time without any expectations. I will tell you that Crowe sports Elvis sideburns in this film, and that alone is worth seeing.

Summary: Heaven's Burning
Review: Not the best movie ever made, not even the best Russell Crowe movie, but quirky and twisty. Refreshing to see a love scene with the camera on the man's face for a change.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Proof that Russel should be in Mad Max 4
Review: Okay, maybe they shouldn't make Mad Max 4 anyway- but after seeing Heaven's Burning I'm convinced that Russel is THE Man. This movie is as quirky and entertaining in an Australian kind of way as Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is in an English way. It contains shockingly funny horrific scenes with a nice character study thrown in. Crowe doesn't play the "always in control" bloke we've seen in some of his other films, including the magnificent Gladiator where he was a slave who was always in control. He's a fella who gets hurt and has no idea what's gonna happen next. And neither do we. Sure, certain things have to happen, but these are mixed in with completely unexpected (often little) things that humanize everyone. I mean, that poor dog! If you haven't seen it, don't worry. I didn't ruin it for you. Great photography as well. Awesome wide screen movie!

Summary: Heaven's Burning
Review: Russell Crowe gives a great acting performance along with the other cast members who I thought were all great.
I read 25 other reviews and all I have to say is this is a great well-made movie with wonderful filming and scenery.
After seeing the film once I thought it was ok, but after seeing it twice I saw how great it really was.

This movie has one man out to kill his wife with little interest in asking questions and an Afgan and his son out for extreme vengence against Colin (very disturbing lines come from the Afgan).

Oh, and guess what? They are both on the run together!
These two characters predictivly fall in love and the film gets exciting from start to finito, with funny bits, love and serious buisness.

I gave this film 5 stars for scenery, plot, film and acting perfomance.

Summary: Good film, could have been better.
Review: Russell did his usual good job, just wish the material he was working with was better. I am glad to see the film letterbox & the extras on the disc. The film lostme when the husband character goes nuts.
