Summary: Magical
Review: Much more than just a sequel, it's a great standalone movie about coming of age and trusting the signs and spirits that move and guide you. Has two great songs, and explores Native American culture. Great art and writing. Has some Lion King influence, Definite buy. Only wish it could've been longer.

Summary: Better than the first Balto movie!
Review: My children and I all enjoyed the first Balto (even though it's not entirely "accurate" but then again most movies that are based on a true story aren't!) but Balto II- Wolf Quest was much much better! We just gave it to my preschool age daughter and she is totally fascinated by it.

The Native American singing/flutes/music throughout it is beautiful with only a couple of musical parts feeling a little awkward. One part I did especially appreciate was that when Balto and Jenna sent their pups to live with new humans, they didn't make it look like a horribly gross injustice that was heartwrenching and agonizing. Babies being separated from their mommies is always hard for children to understand but they did that part very well.

This is not made for adults so keep that in mind but it IS wonderful for children and adults who like cartoons, getting down on a childs level and aren't too stuffy about watching shows made for them. =)

You'll probably recognize quite a few of the voices but not be able to *place* them. Read the credits for a walk down memory lane! =) (probably for those over 30)

Summary: A real disappointment compared with the first Balto movie
Review: My daughter adores the first Balto movie, and I'll admit that I never tire of it either; in my opinion, it's one of the best children's animated films around. If you feel the same way, you'll probably be disappointed with Balto II: Wolf Quest. The animation is different and not quite as good, and the voices are different, and even the characters are depicted with less finesse, so none of the characters look, act, or sound quite "right", compared with the first movie. Even the premise of the movie seems inconsistent with the first movie; Balto is portrayed as a self-loathing outcast, whereas one of the strengths of the first movie is the subtle, natural way it shows Balto coming to accept the positive aspects of being half wolf. Balto II lays out its morals with a much heavier hand, as well; you can practically hear the clunking of the plot as it unfolds. I don't think I'd even recommend renting this video, let alone buying it.

Summary: Worst movie I've seen in years
Review: My sisters and brothers loved the first balto movie and watch it
whenever we can. I'm 18 but I still love it. However the second
was so bad the makers should be shamed. First the movie was poorly made the story line was very weak and depressing. Hardly any of the voices were the same either. I found the being one with nature business some of the most silly and ridiculous thing
I've ever heard. I love animals and enjoy the outdoors but I hope
that I would not be on the same level as a wolverine.
There were all these wierd dreams that mean nothing to you until
the end with no speaking just a crow that is forever cawing.
My little brother and sisters were very turned off by all the
fako magic stuff. The first movie was great because it was a true
story. The people who wrote and produced 2 it were only doing it '
to press this nature magic stuff. Oh and yes to make money off
of people who thought they were buying something of the same value as Balto 1. Look else where ...like at Dinosaur.

Summary: A worth-seeing DTV animated sequel.
Review: Of course, Balto 2 is nothing like the original; like most animated DTV sequels, it has been made with a low budget, so don't expect it to be as good as the original was. However, I think it's still a good sequel : the story is fine (if not compared to the first), the backgrounds are beautiful, and the musics are excellent in several scenes. Usually I hate the songs from those DTV sequels, but here they aren't annoying and even worth listening. The only bad point I would give is the animation itself, which is really bad in a few scenes and looks more like a TV show (ie the bear scene...), but as I said it is often the case with DTV sequels. Also, the characters look and act a bit differently from the first. But from a general point of view, it's still an enjoyable quest, and I think it could have been much worse...So, a good direct-to-video, perhaps one of the best, but not at the level of the original. If you liked the first Balto, then you should at least rent B2. And if you don't like this sequel, then wait for the third Balto, which (from everything I heard, like the return of the original writers) will be a lot better, and will stick more to the original!

Summary: Great Movie but Confusing Ending.
Review: Okay, here's the reveiw. The movie begins a little after the other, when winter is ending. Balto is constantly haunted by this nightmare that pictures him on a treatureous journey, and yet poor Balto has no clue what it means. That same day Jenna gives birth to a litter of puppies. In the first 20 minuets or so, it seems like a standered animated movie: Aleu, Balto's daughter that wasn't adopted because she looks like a wolf, and nobody tells her of her true heritage(part husky/part wolf, for all you non-balto fans). A certain coincidence turns up and Balto is forced to tell Aleu(pronounced as it's spellt)of her true heritage. Aleu gets upset and runs away. Balto, being his kind self, thinks his much-loved daughter needs time to recover, and he understands why she's upset. I do too. The next morning Balto finds out Aleu ran away because she didn't come back later that night and she's not at Jenna's. He himself ventures out in the Alaskan wilderness to bring her back home. It's a very good movie, but they ending is shocking. You think that Aleu would go back to Nome and live there with a better understanding of who and what(her heritage)she is. Nope. She goes off and lives with a pack of wolves because her spirit helper(one very cool mouse)seys it is her destiny. And Balto LETS her go! When I saw this movie the day that it came out(2/19), I was so shocked and badly suprised that I cried! It's a very good movie, but if you ask me, it needs a new ending. A better ending. One that is more understandable for the younger veiwers out there. And soft-hearted people like me.

Summary: Where is the end????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:@
Review: Right! i have alot of things to write!i like songs in Balto 2! "Who are you" and "Great Design" are amazing!!!! Animation is worse, that in balto 1:(! This is a good thing. Where is a real quest?! Only one day of wandering! Yeeeep! I HATE ALEU! it is so unfair to make her straight a leader of a wolf pack! I thing, Aleu is a negative character! She is stubborn, annoying everybody all the movie(expecially me), mean to everybody! Aleu ruins all the movie! And also, where is the end of the movie?! Wolfes have gone, Balto went home!Do yo find sence in it?! I dont! We dont know, what happened with wolfes, Aleu, other characters! I can only say - I AM AGAINST BALTO 2, ALEU!

Summary: Better than the original!
Review: The original "Balto" movie had exactly one good scene, where the talking animals stopped talking and the [silly] polar bears stopped being [silly] and the wolf feelings underneath showed through.

The sequel... I can't say its spiritual ideas go deep, because they don't... but at least most of the film actually feels good to watch. The chicken and polar bears don't intrude too much, and the faux-evil wolves keep their faux-evil posturing down to a chunk that lasts a few minutes.

Most of the film is actually, legitimately about growth and what it means to be a wolf. It touches on some valuable spiritual ideas, as well.

Balto II: Wolf Quest is a film I'm glad and proud to own on DVD...
