Summary: Exceeded my expectations ten times over
Review: High expectations can really make or break a movie, and with the fan base that the first Matrix film built, the expectations for this movie were off the charts. Walking into the theater, I really wasn't sure if this movie was going to meet the standards I had built up for it. I absolutely loved the first Matrix film, and after years of waiting for the sequel, I had built up expectations for "Reloaded" that I worried would be impossible for any movie to meet. Looking back now, I still don't believe there are to many movies out there that could've met my Matrix 2 standards, but thankfully, this is one of the few movies that was good enough to do so.

The movie starts off with an action, bullet time sequence that immediatley establishes "Reloaded" as the action masterpeice it was expected to be. Upon seeing it, my worries of having excessive action expectations were immediately alleviated. I knew this movie was going to be great.

The greatness doesn't stop in the first minute though (obviously). The action sequences in this movie set the bar higher than anyone ever dreamed it could go. From car chases to Kung-Fu fights, this movie provides an unforgettable sci-fi action experience.

But now onto the thing that really set the original Matrix apart from any other movie to begin with, the unique story. So many great action movies are ruined by terrible stories, and the Matrix brought a welcomed end to an era where "action movie" was synonymous with "movie with an awful plot". The story of the first movie was more intriguing than I ever expected, and "Reloaded" continues this tradition. The story is furthered nicely and taken in all new directions. This movie also expands on the world created in the original and gives the veiwer a look at the other aspects of the Matrix universe. I would like to comment more on this aspect, but I don't want to give anything away. With this movie, the less you know about the plot prior to viewing, the better.

I can't reccomend this movie enough. Seeing it was one of the most cinematically satisfying experiences I've had at the movies in quite a while. The story is incredible and the action is unforgetable. No other sci-fi action movie released in recent times even comes close to this movie. If you liked the first movie, you should definitely see this one.

Summary: Man, what the heck was that?
Review: Alright, let's get real. I think you should've ended at movie number one. I liked that one alot. It was interesting, fun, and invigerating. Yes, it is one of my favorites. Then number two comes out and messes the whole thing up. Every move Neo makes is in slow motion. I feel like I'm watching five thousand "instant" replays from a football game. Plus, the architect of the Matrix really annoyed me. I don't think he even knew what he was saying. And I honestly think trinity should've died. Don't we all think she should've died? DON'T WE!? But the thing that really busted my chops was the "TO BE CONTINUED" deal. Has that ever happened in a movie?!? EVER!?!? The answer is no. And even if the directors wanted to try something fresh and new, it's not right. End the movie. Movies are supposed to end! If you want a good fighting movie, watch THE ONE. It's the best fighting movie I've ever seen. Better luck next time Matrix. I mean that. You better have alot of luck the next time.

Summary: A new standard for sci fi on the big screen.
Review: I would expect a movie like this to get average to poor ratings by at least half of the population that went to see it. Another 25% will give it high marks because they were "blown away" by the action scenes. As far as the plot, most people are not going to get it. Those who are offended by this inability will paint the movie (and the series) as having a "thin plot". The truth of the matter is that the plot in the Matrix Trilogy is presented with multiple layers, with a level of complexity one might expect in a classic sci fi novel by Isaac Asimov or Frank Herbert.

I was not a huge fan of the big brawl between Neo and a constantly rising number of "Agent Smiths" -- this one probably lasted a few minutes too long. The other action scenes in Matrix Reloaded were phenomenal. The breakneck pace and complexity of the climax scene was brought off gloriously. The ending brings everything presented previously into question -- including the earth shattering revelations just minutes before. The consistent unfolding of newer and broader realities within the Matrix universe is entirely unique in movie plots and the general audience cannot be expected to get it upon first seeing the movie. I recommend that people watch the original movie at home and then make a return visit to the theater to see Reloaded again.

Summary: Best sequel I've ever seen; very satisfying
Review: Sequels never seem to quite live up to their predecessors. There are a few exceptions, VERY FEW! And, I'm extremely happy to say that this movie is one of the few lucky ones!
This movie takes place probably a few months after the first one ended. Apparently, not much had happened after Neo kicked Mr. Smith's .... But don't worry, plenty can still happen. I'm not going to bother saying what the first movie was about, because if you didn't see it you, well, don't deserve to live In this movie, one of the many hovercrafts that glide through the sewers of the real world to get good signals into the matrix found an army of machines digging down to Zion. They will reach the city in 72 hours. Zion is what they call the last city of man (oh, and it's underground.)
An emergency protocol was activated then, and all the hovercrafts were ordered to return to Zion to attempt to fight back. But Morpheus, having complete faith in Neo's ability to single-handedly shut down the matrix, refused to obey and continued to try and find the source of the matrix. The origin, the heart, the Cream-filled Center!!! And, well, shut it down. He really had no evidence how it would work, his religion just said it would (the one he probably made up) and thus continues the most thought provoking action movie in the history of moving picture shows.
I'll start with the cons of this movie; the reasons it's not quite as good as the first (because who really likes to read these at the end?)
Well, first of all, the party/sex scene was just unescacary. First Morpheus gives a little speech to a group of people about how Neo is going to save Zion. Good, now in case he fails, everyone get to your posts! Let move, move, move!! No, instead, when he was finished, someone turned up the music, got high, and started dancing. And people just decided to do the same thing. And while everyone was in the "Party room" having a grand old time before the world ended, Neo and Trinity decided now was a good time to get frisky. Just could have done without it.
Also, I thought some of the fight scenes dragged on a little. I know I'm probably the only person who can get bored right in the middle of a big fight scene, but I have a point. Neo's fight with the millions of Agent Smiths just became a little too repetitive. Punch, kick, throw, punch, kick, throw, wash, rinse, repeat. I thought Neo could do anything he wanted in the matrix! Why don't you do some universe bending whydoncha? Cut some Smith's heads off, blow some Smiths up, for god's sake!
Oh, and at the end, Neo had some powers in the real world. I just think the reason for that is going to be kind of weak.
All right, enough of the cons, because once you look past it, you will see a great movie. First of all, the philosophy. This movie really makes you think. You think about mankind's purpose, the mysteries of AI, and all that good .... The whole Idea of the matrix still throws me back. I also loved the Idea of rouge programs. Personality programs in the matrix (like agents) that have disobeyed the system and gone into exile, or that had glitches or errors. All the stories of aliens and other such weird things are just crazy programs in the matrix. The oracle was one too, which explains why she couldn't leave it. Also, Neos conversation with the creator of the matrix was very interesting. The guy talked about the history of the matrix and that neo couldn't save mankind, very cool.
Special effects... just Amazing! More explosions, robots, and flying than you could ever expect from a movie. It's just the Matrix, blow it all up. This is probably the most visually advanced movie... well, ever! And, best of all, it never gets unrealistic or overdone.
Acting, great. Don't even have to comment on that.
Overall, this was the second greatest Sci- fi movie I've ever seen. (And you know what the first is) Plenty of explosions and kung fu, plus an amazingly interesting and original plot. It was a great sequel to a great original, and I'm sure the Matrix title will be remembered just as long, if not longer than star wars (without any horrible prequels, pre-prequels or anything else that has completely killed star wars) I would recommend this amazing movie to anyone.

Summary: Boring, boring, boring
Review: I almost walked out. See....there's no story...just a lot of endless fight scenes that go on waaaaay to looong, a whole lot of "touching" goodbyes that's supposed to be a substitute for real characters interacting ( well how could they? that would cut down on the fight scenes).

I kind of liked the first Matrix. It was gory as hell but it was new and visual. This version doesn't further the story because there isn't one. Kids, thisone is for the studio and the producers wallets. As for the acting, given the wooden dialogue, I thought Ice Age was better acted.

Summary: I'm Confused
Review: The Matrix Reloaded starts off with action, in the first few minutes. Is that a problem? In this movie, yes. TMR focuses on too much action, with the storyline being boring and confusing.

I LOVED the original Matrix. It is way better than it's sequal.

But, there are a few (JUST a few) scenes that are amazing. Lets just say one involves huge semi-trucks.

Mostly, the fights [are boring]. They are just fights, with no reason for them. The graphics with them are bad, also. I could tell when Neo was replaced with a CGI character, which looked less than real.

Maybe this is just a step towards The Matrix Reloaded, which could rock, and make up for this excuse for a "very amazing" movie.

All in all, this movie ends up being a very confusing mess. Rent it before you buy it.

Summary: We will miss you "the oracle"!
Review: I saw it 7 times by now. I think we are getting more and more spoiled in seeing and experiencing the action scenes. There is so much hard work, money, and inspiration, I have no words to say. I was dissapointed in the fact that the oracle was not a human as well.. but still, it shouldnt make me say that this movie isnt worth 5 stars..and I am also sorry that the actress doesnt live anymore, she was really something.
Trinity and the way she acts drive me crazy. She is so real, and amazing.. Neo was really charming this time with his outfit and all. I think the sum of all this Matrix thing, is about getting excited and taking out the hero in oneself. Although so many people dont get into the style, lots of other people owe many thanx to Wachowski Brothers and the rest of the team for creating such an exciting, lively and fascinating philosophy and sincere effort to blow our minds while watching!

Summary: Great Sequel
Review: This movie was pretty good. I am not sure it will ever compete with the first one so I will try not to compare it on those standards. The second Matrix follows closely with the first storyline despite what I have read in other reviews. It merely adds onto the knowledge that was introduced in the first one. Some things we believed to be true in the first one are not as true in the second one or at least not true in the same sense. The special effects in the movie were great and the intensity of the action sequences were off scale. The battle scenes with Neo are unbelievable his fighting is done with such ease. all in all a great movie. I would recommend it to anyone who has watched and understood the first movie. I think this ovie deserves five stars because it has mainly set up the storyline for a great third Matrix (Matrix Revolutions).
*Don't forget to stay after the credits for a sneak peak at the concluding movie*

Summary: whats the point?
Review: I expected so much more from this film. I enjoyed the first one but this sequel is typical hollywood. Give the directors more money more time and more leeway in production. Ok so the set pieces are amazing and the fight scenes superbly choreographed but whats the point if you haven't got a decent plot or decent characters? Larry fishbourne hams it up bigtime and keanu again proves himself to be the talentless so called actor he is. A big disappointment. Give me Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon over this mush any day.
