Summary: Not Godzilla
Review: There is really one argument that can be made about this not being Godzilla: Godzilla. Does. Not. Run.

Ever.

Having Godzilla running from the army neutralized any hope n my mind that this was a faithful remake. It's not Godzilla.

Summary: Americanized Go-Jira rocks!
Review: Those of us with a clue are obviously laughing hysterically at the reviewers who say this is a clone of Jurrasic Park and/or were dissapointed to not see a shakespearean effort here. This movie wasn't meant to be such! It's based on the original Godzilla flick (Which predates JP by almost 50 years!), about a lizard mutated to monstrosity by nuclear testing... And based on that fact... The makers of this film did one helluva job! It's an action packed special effects romp with some cheese. That's what it is, and that's what it was meant to be! So brew up some of that "french roast" coffee, sit back, and enjoy, if this sounds like your thing!

Summary: What else can you Expect
Review: This is Godzilla here, Not Jurassic Park. I wasn't expecting some Award winning movie with great acting and a amazing plot. This is Godzilla! He's a big Lizard. All I wanted was to see a giant reptile destroying a city and that's what i got. The director (Roland Emmerich) who directed Independence Day, and the Patriot is my favorite director and he did a great job of this movie. He gave me what I, and my friends wanted when we went to see it, and we applaud him, and Dean Devlin.

Summary: Little Lizard, No Beast!
Review: No, this overblown epic from Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin (the masterminds who made "Universal Soldier") have come up with the most disappointing monster movie of all time. Go-chila was never seen and when he finally appeared on screen, everybody watching this trash had fallen asleep. Matthew Broderick plays a scientist who discovers the new breed which is a cross between an alligator, a lizard and Andre the Giant. An ugly piece of cinema. Helicopters and jets can't stop the thing because they just blow up monumental buildings in New York instead. No aim! The creature chases the scientist and his friends and it's not funny. Little Godzilla babies run around making a mess of consession stands in Madison Square Garden. Bad mother for not teaching your children manners. Bad director for making a slow boring movie that is just another "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" done worse. Japanese people should be ashamed of this movie that doesn't contain people running around waving their arms like maniacs screaming, "Godzilla!" But, I was doing that running out of the theaters with popcorn spewing out of my mouth.

Summary: GODZILLA AND SEPT 11
Review: IN LIGHT OF RECENT EVENTS IN NYC, I EXPECT NEW YORKERS TAKE THIS MOVIE VERY SERIOUSLY.THE EXCELLENT SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKE IT VERY REAL AND THE COLLAPSE OF THE CHRYSLER BIULDING WAS VERY WELL DONE.THE TAXI CHASE WAS GREAT AND GODZILLA WAS AWESOME. THE BOTHERSOME THING WAS THE BEHAVIOR OF THE MAYOR.WE ALL KNOW THE REAL MAYOR DID NOT BEHAVE THAT WAY.

Summary: The Godzilla Killa
Review: This 1998 version is so lame I can't even begin to tell you; but let me try...
This highly touted, highly flouted modern remake of an old classic has done a great disservice to its original prototype. In fact, this monster (and movie) should not even be called 'Godzilla', because it lacks all of the elements which made the origials so great...
This 1998 version of 'Godzilla' is like some over-teched video game mixed with a terrible plot and lame acting. I'm sorry but Gozilla is more than big chunk of pixels and graphics that destroys New Yrok City. Godzilla, the original, Japanese Godzilla at least, is a creature whose very clumsiness makes it more realistic, and is a monster who attacks, not to be the next biggest blockbuster hit, but due to a tragic bout with radiation poisoning.
Its such a shame when movies are remade into modern flops, and when great, almost mythical entitites such as Godzilla are molded into mere graphic toys for overly-confident, technocratic filmmakers and their money-making attemps. This film flopped. Get it? Godzilla is not merely a computer-generated toy, but a saga that is supposed to have a plot, a purpose, and at least a decent screenplay. You will not find any of those qualities with this flashy 1998 'attempted' remake. Get the original Japanese version instead, or you will really be missing out. You can throw this one in the toilet and stuff it down the drain with the plunger, never to be seen again.

Summary: ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!!!
Review: This waste-of-time-and-money (not to be confused with "movie") has nothing to do with The King of the Monsters -GODZILLA, to the culturally illiterate. The creature of this movie has absolutely nothing in common with Godzilla other than size.

The storyline and acting are hogwash. AND SINCE WHEN ARE THE FRENCH BETTER FIGHTERS THAN THE U.S. ARMY?!!! For those easily seduced by CGI faux graphics and mindless rip-offs of other movies (who can forgive the raptor sequence?) this is worth your...bucks...

Summary: My Favorite Popcorn Movie.
Review: OK OK, its not the greatest movi, but its fun. It's the perfect "PUT YOUR BRAIN ON HOLD" movie, for a Friday night. If you have a home theater system, crank it up, its even more fun.

Summary: Godzilla's OK
Review: I wish all the "experts" would stop trying to be Roger Ebert and just enjoy the movie! This version of the giant reptile has terrific special effects and a softer feel to it. Godzilla also has something I really go for in any movie.....a sense of humor! The characters all contribute in this area and especially Jean Reno, who I think is a fine actor.
So lighten up and enjoy. This is no academy award winner, but really people, it wasn't meant to be!
