Summary: Wild
Review: I dont see why the directing is so amazing, I just loved the story. Its one of those movies that keeps you guessing the whole way through, and your still suprised when you get to the end. It was boring at parts, but a little while in, it gets real good...and come the end, its pure suspense. This movie was amazing.

Summary: awesome movie
Review: ok, the torture scene is intense, but still a great piece of flimmaking. steve buscemi is my favorite actor, and thought i won't give it away, he has the best part. this movie is wonderful. and whoever said real people don't swear like this needs to wake up and smell the cursin' coffee. because virtually everyone swears like this. i even know that, for better or worse, i swear like this. not a movie to see with you mother, but maybe your father. ah well, this'll be a good buy, i swear.

Summary: Pointless and profane
Review: I found this unwatchable. A bunch of guys attempt to rob a bank and end up holed up somewhere, where they swear a lot and eventually shoot each other. But not soon enough. I think someone had a bunch of stage blood to use before it went bad.

Summary: Reservoir Dogs-Letterbox Edition
Review: Reservoir Dogs is one of the best movies I have seen. I rank it with great movies like; Full Metal Jacket, Goodfellas, Platoon, Clockwork Orange, and Raging Bull. I found it to have great character development, and great interaction between the characters. If you like Tarantino you will, no doubt, love Reservoir Dogs.

Summary: Over-rated.
Review: After the success of 1994's "Pulp Fiction", Quentin Tarantino fans scrambled around to find "Reservoir Dogs".

Too bad for the rest of us they found it.

Tarantino is an over-rated director who cobbled together a decent story for "Pulp Fiction", and was lucky to not butcher "jackie brown", which was based on a good Elmore Leonard novel. In "Reservoir Dogs" his short-comings as a writer and a director are obvious- the story is dull and long, and Taratino's characters are boring. Yep, boring. Does anyone honestly care what happens to these guys?

A better question is this- Do Tarantino's films actually have real characters, or are they just a bunch of wierd guys who like saying the f-word, over and over and over? After hearing some obsenity 15,000 times the shock value really does wear off.

Yawn.

Summary: Pleasant surprise
Review: All my friends at work were raving about this movie. Although I had never seen it, I decided to buy it on dvd based on their recomendations. I thought it was a little better than pulp fiction (one of my all time favorites). I've only watched it twice, but I plan to watch it again as soon as I have time. Not only is it a great film, but it looks great on dvd. If you're not afraid of a little blood and rough language, I would highly recomend this. Especially if you enjoyed pulp fiction.

Summary: The 'dogs' are on form
Review: This is, and continues to be one of my favourite films. The characters come alive, the dialogue is groovy baby. The Reservoir Dogs are the coolest bunch of guys i know. This film will stand for all time as a classic. Tartantino is a very gifted and creative man.

Summary: torture as comedy
Review: I'll never forget the (very long) torture scene: ear cut off, victim doused in gasoline--and hearing young men in the audience laughing like it was a Woody Allen comedy. Way to go Quentin. Nothing like prolonged graphic violence for a good chuckle!

Summary: .
Review: Although I found Pulp Fiction maybe a touch more entertaining, on a critical level, Reservoir Dogs is better of the two, and although most of the reviewers here are happy enough to lavish it with praise, I think it is generally underappreciated. This is probably due to Tarantino's stark, violent, off-putting style. But I would agree this should be on AFI's list, (not that I really care about AFI) -- every time I see the movie I am left thoroughly impressed. The performances are really, really good, all around, and the aesthetic precision with which each scene is handled is incredible. Film geeks whine about the fact that the story idea was culled from City On Fire, and if that's so (I haven't seen City On Fire) then I agree it should've been credited. But that doesn't change the fact that this is an astoundingly imaginative and well-done movie. It does boast some very difficult-to-watch scenes, but the stark, non-gloss quality of Tarantino's violence is what makes it so remarkable. I think that the fact that the violence in Tarantino's movies *does* inspire reaction from the viewer, and that certain sequences *do* make the viewer uncomfortable, are to the filmmaker's credit. Violence *should* be a bit difficult to watch, instead of being dramatized and glorified by slow-motion and balletic choreography (not that I'm totally opposed to such techniques, if done well, and in the right context.) Anyhow, Reservoir Dogs is a remarkably well-made film.
