Summary: This is a movie to shut everyone up!
Review: Schindler's List, The Killing Fields, Savior. Those movies are the kind you leave the theatre in silence, or just sit there for a while in a quiet trance. This movie chills me to the bone. This movie can even make a redneck cry in some parts. Don't get this if you want a movie like "Payback" or "Rambo", remember this is an Oliver Stone movie. Very informative and moving, with plenty of killing. Not for children, or your elderly mother.

Summary: Savior - As seen in Beograd!
Review: I saw this film in Beograd (1998) with two Serbian friends who recommended I see it and who translated when necessary. The audience ... totally Serbian ... gave cheers and applause at moments which I thought totally inappropriate. However, my friends understood my feelings as I understood theirs. They were members of Otpor ... the Resistance Movement.

My first trip to "Yugoslavia" was in 1985. I had seen "Yugoslavia" without the hate and anger portrayed in film. The message was extremely poignant ... it showed what happens when political and religious differences supersede rational thinking. It made me realize what could happen, even in America, if we let our emotions run rampant and lose respect for others.

For me there was no hero ... the blame for the atrocities rested with all the individuals: American, Serbian, Croatian & Bosnia.

The message .. for me ... was that there is no place in this world for uncontrolled anger or intolerance for the religious or politicl beliefs of others.

I highly recommend it! It should be seen by every adult in America!

Summary: Where is Nastassja?
Review: This was a thought provoking, gritty movie that never lagged. Great performances, and great editing, especially the scene where the young mother is trying to decide whether or not to keep her child. BUT...why on earth did they kill off Nastassja Kinski in the first five minutes of the movie? I would rather have seen HER in the role of the mother. We all know she would have done a fantastic job. She is literally wasted in this film.

Summary: My thought
Review: After the collapse of the Communism regimes in former Soviet Empire and East Europe, Serbians and Muslims have accomplished what Communism hasn't been able to in 45 years, this almost made Communism looks good!

Democracy is political freedom. It should be the ultimate goal of humankind, but it also could lead to disasters. When people have the choice to choose, would they choose the right or would they choose the wrong?

Summary: TOO REAL
Review: This film took me utterly by surprise. Frankly, I didn't know to expect. What I thought was going to be a typical Hollywood take on war, was instead a difficult, unflinching and harrowing film about the horrors of war in general and Bosnia in particular. I must admit, on more than one occasion I had to walk away from the screen. I felt helpless and angry and, at points, shivered at the sheer horror of what was unfolding before me. This film is yet another testament to man's inhumanity to man. To be honest, I don't think I shall ever forget this film. Even though I read much on the subject and stared in disbelief at the pictures broadcast on the evening news, "Savior" completely redefined for me this grim and inhumane chapter in modern history. Dennis Quaid gives an honest and gut-felt performance as Joshua (a.k.a. "Guy"); a role very different from anything he's ever done in the past and, quite frankly, unlikely to do again. This film steered clear of Hollywood clichés, gimmicks and tidy endings. This is a movie about the chaos and horror of war and at no time, does anyone attempt to glamorize it, thus diminishing it's power to move and anger, shock and repel. There's no happy ending to be had in this movie. The end only conveys the ultimate truth: In war, there are no winners. I watched this movie with a friend who was reduced to tears by the time the end credits rolled onto the screen. I, on the other hand, was still and speechless. A cathartic experience and one that will be with me for quite a long time. An all around outstanding film, difficult as it was to see.

Summary: Don't forget what you see in this film!
Review: This film is horrid. It brought me to tears with its stark portrayal of a war so few have dared to cover. It reveals the power of survival and the inexplicable pain of senseless slaughter. This film is not fun to watch, but it should be watched...it must be watched.

Summary: Awesome
Review: Based on a true story this movie is devastatingly haunting. For me it was an eye-opener to how terrible the past years, (and current time) have been to people in that region of the world. THIS MOVIE IS A MUST SEE; I however echo the sentiments of a pervious, that it is not for children!

Summary: The best film about genocide since Schindlers List
Review: This film had some of the most emotionally devastating images i have ever seen. When the man walks into a mosque with a handgun and fires on people at prayer in retaliation for the murder of his family after a terrorist attack, when a man kicks a pregnant woman in the stomach simply because she was raped by a muslim and became pregnant as a result. And perhaps the toughest image, the mother of the child being bludgeoned by a sledgehammer as the child coos and smiles just yards away. This is the kind of film you have to talk about once its finished just to deal with it. This is a fine film, perhaps the best yet least known anti war film of recent time. Watch it, you will be better for seeing it.
