Summary: Get Me Off This Planet !
Review: This film is very dark with relentless violence and chase scenes.
There is no let-up or moments of relief, it's just like a bad
nightmare which only ends if you wake up or walk out of the
theater.
Also, no one has mentioned the annoying and endless dark brooding
pounding music (mainly brass and percussion) from which there is
also no relief as it even swamps the dialogue and is particularly
fatiguing with surround sound. No doubt this was done in a post
production effort to punch up otherwise weak material.

Summary: It's Planet of the Apes, but it's not
Review: The word "reimagining" sounded like a cop-out to me when I first heard it for this movie. I mean, Planet of the Apes is Planet of the Apes. Reimagining? What exactly is that? I didn't see it in the theater because I wasn't going to spend my hard-earned money on this POTA when I had the "real one" on my shelf in DVD.
I watched it on DVD later. I was suprised, pleasently suprised. While this movie is not the greatest thing since buttered toast, it is a good Planet of the Apes movie. Some of the line could have been dropped, ("Get your filthy hands off of me, you damned dirty human!" and Heston as an ape yelling "Damn them! Damn them all to hell", for example,) but the movie works far better than I thought it would, far better. The end is not what I thought it would be, but then again neither was the first one. While not mandatory viewing, you won't be wasting your time with it, either, and if you are a POTA fan, lets face it, there are only so many hours in the series of films and TV shows. Another 2 hours of good material is appreciated.

Summary: Cheesy script, great direction and production design...
Review: Well if you've seen the movie, you already know that the story is a little short of boring and definetly not interesting. But that does not make the movie a complete loss. Why? The answer is obvious: Tim Burton. His special care and personal vision took the film and made it a very good display of technology and artstyle. The amount of detail is incredible and personally the movemets of the apes is what really saves the day. They are so animal not like the original one. In the original film we only see the apes doing human things and they just walk like handicaped humans. By the way the acting is incredible especially Tim Roth who displays how apish he is :) Bur afterall it still doesnt get close to the excitement and interest of the first movie. And another thing; the DVD is supreme. Sound and picture quality is very good.The special features DVD is very detailed and long enough to to make all apes series fans happy. If you are a POTA series fan or a Tim Burton maniac (Like Me) you should get that one...

Summary: Planet Of The Apes Revisited
Review: To really enjoy Planet of the Apes (2001), you have to love and appreciate the earlier movies. I love all of the original movies for all of their cheesiness as well as the creativity and the issue they addressed. The old Planet of The Apes movies addressed issues of class, racism, and how ignorant and cruel we as a society can be when we do not understand others. The predecessor of the new movie has already been creative, already been original, and the new movie caters to fans of the original movie, and was made to entertain. That it did. If you love the originals and have seen them all--and I have--then you will be entertained by the 2001 version. I never expected it to be a remake of the original and only went for the entertainment value; I expected only to be entertained, and I was!

Review: Notice the other films that people who brought this film also purchased: Laura Croft, Pearl Harber, Jurrasic Park. If you liked those movies then you should buy this movie.

The only positive about this film is the acting of Helena Bonham Carter, though she cheapens herself by appearing in this crappy movie.

Review: I should have known when I saw the trailers with Helena Bonham-Carter as an ape with Jennifer Anniston's hair-do that this would be bad, but I hadno idea how had it would be.
The English actors playing apes all look embarassed, and well they should.
That anyone gives the ludicrous script credit for pretentions to commentary on civil rights is mystifying to me. The astoundly ridiculous ending is just slightly below the level of the entire film to that point.
If this film were just bad, maybe it could be enjoyed as a laughably bad movie, but it commits the most unpardonable sin of all: it's BORING. So very boring.

Review: This movie didn't deserve a single star. No plot. Terrible acting. I am so glad I didn't purchase this DVD. My son rented it from a video store. He should have kept his money because that's exactly what I'm going to do! If you get one for free....give it away. Better yet, don't take it even if it's free.

Review: If you've seen the trailer, you saw the movie. The trailer doesn't miss a thing. The movie was the worst I've seen in years. Tim Burton, I'm sure, is ashamed with what came out of the cutting room. Regardless the amount of talent involved in this flick, it was abhorent - as a whole.
