Summary: Where the heck is the THX
Review: Let me make this clear, I am reviewing the movie content, I don't own the DVD yet, but I do own the LD. Which brings me to my next point, where the heck is the THX certification on these DVD's? The laser disc was certified, so why not the DVD's? Mabey it's just not yet listed... The content: Well, JP1-Great, JP2-Not so great. I would buy it.

Summary: Finally on DVD!
Review: Everywhere you went when Dolby Pro Logic was the big thing, what did they have in the demo player at your local retail outlet? Yep, Jurrassic Park. Good reasoning too! I don't think there has ever been a more visually and audibly Exhillhirating soundtrack. From the first sound effects in the Universal trailer at the beginning, to the incredible deep roars and piercing screams. I have literally had people jump out of their seats on the velociraptor scenes with the old Dolby Pro Logic! Now, enter the ONLY thing these two movies (more especially the first) have ever lacked, that's right, Dolby Digital 5.1 DVD playback! Why weren't these issued sooner to do them the justice they deserve? I have waited patiently for years. If you have Dolby Digital 5.1 and DVD, these will be a "must have." How much you want to bet I know what will be in the Dolby Digital 5.1 demo system at you local retail outlet on October 11th? I think I will add more nails to the shingles on my roof to keep them on when I recieve my copy! FINALLY!

Summary: Jurassic Park & The Lost World on DVD-Finally
Review: Congradulations and "Thank You" to Steven Speilburg for finally releaseing these two Blockbusters on DVD. Anyone who has owned the DVD format knows the advantages in sight and sound quality, and the disappiontment that more of the biggest grossing films of all time are not available. Who can forget the sound of T-Rex's footsteps when he first appeared in "Jurassic Park". I crank the volume up and my whole house shakes and I can almost feel the breath blowing toward me when the T-Rex roars. Without giving away too much of the movie itself, I can only tell you that this was my favorite movie of all time until Speilburg released........Thats another reveiw entirely. "Jurassic Park" is a great escape film that leaves you wondering about the possibilities of modern science. "The Lost World" was disappionting to me.I didn't really care for the storyline. I had hoped it would follow the first film more closely. Therefore I can only give this package a 4 star rateing. However, as a fantasy film it is quite entertaining. Both of these films on DVD can only enhance the quality and enjoyment. If you don't own a DVD player or are looking to purchase one in the future, here are 2 good reasons to do so. The added footage and documentaries are a bonus. So grab a bag of popcorn, douse the lights, crank up the volume, press play, and enjoy!

Summary: 1 up & 1 down
Review: If i had the choice i would buy movie number 1 and never ever add movie number 2 to my collection. As great as the first movie was with it's story and great effects that's how bad the second movie with it's story, bad acting, and no new effects. where was speielberg's mind while doing the second movie, no wonder he's not directing the third movie.

Summary: Good Effects
Review: The effects in these movies are great, but if you have read the books don't watch the movies because as usual hollywood ruins it on the big screen. Sometimes I wonder way Crieghton lets hollywood destroy his books. The only reason to watch these films is to see the amazing effects, everything else can be skipped.

Review: These movies are way too interesting for you not to have it in your collection.

All of the emotions are provoked from this movie.

Summary: A fun combination, but FX overshadow the stories
Review: Those who have read the books and seen the movies know that there is a world of difference between the two, but both remain enjoyable experiences. The books contain more meat, better (but still skeletal) explanations of the science behind the story than the film. The film, on the other hand is full of digital candy -- i.e., excellent work in bringing digital dinosaurs to life on screen.

The acting in the movies was pretty good, and I especially liked seeing Sam Neill and Laura Dern in the lead in the first one. I also liked Jeff Goldblum in both shows -- his part as the eclectic mathematician suited him well. The acting didn't seem to be as good in the second installment though -- so about 3.5-4 stars for acting.

Character development in the first show was pretty good -- especially during the first part of the movie when the characters were introduced. 4.5 stars for "Jurassic Park." Character development seemed to take a back seat to FX in "Lost World" though -- 3.5 stars.

Special effects definitely earn 5 stars in both. In fact, both of these shows couldn't have worked without the FX. It's too bad that the FX took over the shows though, especially "Lost World"

I would have liked to see a bit more faithfulness to the books, but I guess you can't have everything. All in all fun shows, but I would have enjoyed the movies a bot more had the screen plays ended more like the books.

A solid 4 stars for the combination.

Enjoy! -- Alan Holyoak

Summary: Jurassic Park Returns!
Review: Finaly a DVD that is worth everyones collection! These movies were great in theaters, then they came to video and still amazed and now....they arrive on DVD, where they belong! Both movies are full of incredible special effects. Jurassic Park is the first of these phenominal movies. This is the movie that started the craze. From the director Stephen Spielberg, he creates a masterpiece of live action and animation. I loved this movie because it is not just big bad dinosaurs causing terror. Instead, Stephen uses a great script that has the believable story line of a major theme park haveing problems and needing an "OK". Not many modern day movies intermingle a great script/acting with superb special effects. It's either one or the other. Not with Jurassic Park.

The Lost World is similiar to Jurassic Park but not as good in my opinion. They both have superb special effects but the Lost World lacks the great script. The beging of the movie was great and continued to grown and then went down hill at the end. When the T-Rex starts walking around the city i started to laugh because it was so far fetched from the rest of the story line. They should have ended the movie earlier but oh well you get what you get. Although there is a bad ending i sill loved it! Not as great as the first but still worth having in my DVD collection!
