Summary: Cool bananas
Review: I'm one of the few folk out there who likes 'The Lost World' better than 'Jurassic Park'.

Character development? Plot? Let's face it. What we all wanted to see was dinosaurs running around and eating people. And there wasn't nearly enough of that in Jurassic to satisfy anyone. But in The Lost World, there is literally tons of it! That scene in the long grass - short but very very scary!

Effects? The wonder wasn't in the dinosaurs come to life, it was in the quality of the effects. For the time, the effects in Jurassic were groundbreaking, but they don't hold up so well after a very short time. But the amazing stuff they did in Lost World is just incredible! Flawless, almost! Especially when the velociraptors fight each other (instead of Julianne Moore).

There's precious little plot in either of them, and no real character development per se. But there is plenty of character itself! Especially in Lost World! And let's be realistic - of all the movies that have monsters eating people, Lost World is the king.

By the way, the DVD extras are very cool, though I wish Spielberg would do some doggone commentary! He'd better for the ET and Indiana Jones ones, I'm tellin' ya!

Summary: Save the Park--Lose the World
Review: Undeniably, Jurassic Park is one of the most exciting movies of our generation. Great effects are coupled with a good story that actually has a theme (the dangers of tampering with nature via biogenetics). Plus, Sam Neill leads a good and convincing cast. However, The Lost World is indeed that: Lost. We are drowned in special effects midst a story that doesn't seem to know where it is going. As with many Spielberg films, Lost World starts off slow, but in this case the slow start is necessary to try to explain why on earth Jeff Goldblum would, in his right mind, face these dinosaurs again. There is the only one area in which Lost World tops Jurassic, and that is in the number of dinosaurs and special effects. If you're an effects lover, you like them both; if you need a plot, stick to Jurassic Park.

Summary: NO DTS - Any collector's edition should have DTS and
Review: I have been waiting for this release since I saw the movies at the theater. I have both movies in VHS format and was really looking forward to the high quality of the collector's edition of these films. I am very disappointed that the option of widescreen or standard is not offered. I am even more disappointed (offended) that these DVDs do not offer DTS sound when the same releases in the stores (not the collector's edition) have it. Thus the low rating.

Summary: Excellent package for those Jurassic Park fans
Review: What can I say that hasn't been said already. Jurassic Park was the benchmark for computer graphics in movies, and can even hold its own with some of today's blockbusters. This dvd collection is presented perfectly. The sound and video are flawless, the added features are excellent, and the movies themselves are classic, although I don't think the second film is as good as the first. This is definetly a can't miss dvd to add to your collection.

Summary: DVD es muy bien.
Review: I really don't know Spanish, and most likely used it incorrectly but what it was supposed to say is DVD is very good, which this 2-Disc Set is. For some reason I got got this DVD on 10/9/00, a day before it was supposed to be released retail, I got it from an online site but I won't say which one. Anyway, it's a great collection, 2 great movies packed together for twice the punch. What I really like about these DVDs are their menus, they are very easy to scroll and unlike the other DVDs I have that try to make their menus look futuristic and machine type, this DVD has very smooth well laid out menus that make them easy to read. How can I write a review without talking about the picture quality though, DVD is great for this, and this disc does well. The sound is pretty good too, it's very enjoyable. The features on this disc are cool, Making of Jurassic Park and all those other things that were on TV awhile ago, but its nice just to see them again, as I havn't seen either of these movies in awhile also. Overall I suggest this collection, you can't go wrong with dinos wreaking havoc all over the place, well maybe you can, but it sure is fun to watch :).

Summary: "Welcome, to Jurassic Park!"
Review: Jurassic Park is definately my favorite film of all time, no question about it! You might wonder why, after all it is true Jurassic Park is no Citizen Kane, or Kramer vs. Kramer. The reason Jurassic Park is my favorite film ever is because of the pure amazement you get from watching it. Everytime you watch it you'll get shivers up your spine because it's so incredible! I do agree with others about Jurassic Park's lack of character developement, but you get to know the characters well enough. I disagree with Jurassic Park not having a good plot, perhapes what people mean is that it doesn't have a very complicated plot in terms of events, but the idea itself "what if we could bring dinosaurs back to life and they got free and terrorized humans." is one of the greatest I've ever heard! I've tried many times to come up with a new fresh idea like that, and it's near impossible.

The Lost World on the other hand is less then great. Jurassic Park's sequal is the one that has no real plot and not the least bit of characterization. The sequal relies on special effects alone. The funny thing is the special effects seem to bring the movie even lower down. I got a sense of amazement everytime a dinosaur came on the screen in Jurassic Park, they were so wonderful and intellegent, living breathing beings. You could throw a rock anywhere in the Lost World and hit a dozen dinosaurs, and they'd be stupid enough not to move out of it's way. They're fast and vicious, but no more than movie monsters, no intellegence, no thinking things through, just a lot of mindless violence.

Overall Jurassic Park definately deserves the "5" Lost World gets a "3" but because of it's DVD value in special effects this collection gets a "5" overall. Personaly I'd just buy Jurassic Park by itself though.

Summary: JP isn grea, JPLW is okay
Review: Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern star in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park. John Hammond is brilliant and succesful business man, who just had his most brilliant discovey yet. He found out how to clone and create Dinosaurs, his only problem is how to make money of it. By making and an amuesment Park open for visitors, if that is it passes the safety test. Three scientist, Alan Grant(Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler(Laura Dern), and Ian Malcom(Jeff Goldblum), will check it out and give thumbs up or down. With awesome special effects and a great story Spielbergs version of Michael Crichton's novel is an instant classic. Five out of five stars. This wonderful piece of cinematic art.

Jeff Goldblum returns as Ian Malcom in Steven Spielbergs sequel to his Blockbuster Jurassic Park. In The Lost world again based on a novel by Michael Crichton. Ian Malcom after five yeras of being sure that all the dinosaurs are dead. Id notified by John Hammond that there is a second Island with more Dinosaurs. A team is sent to study the animals and another one to capture them. Soon terror spreads and the teams must unite to survive. Not even half as good as the first JP2 has better special effects but in all is much worse and very dissapointing. Two out of five stars. Not worth seeing unless you are very strong of the the first one.

Summary: The worst of American Crap.
Review: There are no finer examples of pure Hollywood excrement than these two films. No logical plot, no character development, no reason to see either of these films. IF YOU VALUE QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Summary: Action Packed... But Once Again DVD Fails...
Review: Jurassic Park and the Lost World... Two brilliant movies, with great animation, and special effects. When I first heard these two movies were coming out on DVD I was extremely excited. Untill I saw the description of the DVD,which said once again this movie falls into the trap of being a widescreen version. I have nothing against widescreen version, it's just with todays new technology you'd think they would be able to make it with regular and widescreen so the viewer would be able to choose. Because, when you don't have a widescreen TV, like me, you get annoyed watching the movie in a 12 by 20 box istead of a 21 by 21 . When will DVD learn......

Review: Jurassic Park (the original) was the better of the two, however both were head & shoulders above most other movies! Extensive research into the subject is reflected in the movie!
