Review: This is the lousiest DVD package ever assembled. Obviously the production company was looking for some serious bucks to help in promoting the Jurassic 3 sequel because this package has very little to offer. No deleted scenes, no commentary, terrible animation menus (or should I say-what animation!) and just an overall "quick, put all this into a DVD package" setup. I would say, we need to see the goods in Jurassic 3 to really get an idea of a really good DVD package. Don't waste your money on all of this. It's senseless! The Jurassic Park 3 trailer is one of the most cheesy and cheap trailers for a movie I have ever seen, next to the Men In Black 2 trailer on the DVD. I wanna see more than just a bunch of fake dinosaurs noises and trees blowing in the wind to get excited about a film. If you really have to see this DVD package, rent it or borrow it from a sucker who paid for this cheesy product. Don't bother with all of this! Save your money and wait for a the trilogy package next Christmas.

Summary: Cool extras... just had to find them
Review: When I first reviewed this DVD, I accused Universal of shorting the consumer several "extra features". I finally found them, I just had to recognize the little arrow at the bottom of the screen was separate from other menu parts.Sorry, Universal. I did not mean to be a complete fool.

Summary: My favorite - at last - but Universal can do better
Review: I have looked forward to these two DVD's. Though dino's don't impress me that much more I can still recall some magic from the first time in the cinema. After watching the two films, struggling with the sound and captions, I have the feeling that they have been transferred directly from VHS master to DVD without any improvement on the sounds. Speak drowns in noise as they did on VHS and I almost lost my temper when we turned the subtitles on. The captions were scattered all over the screen.... Furthermore I found some of the extra's recycled on the two discs and especially the teaser for JP3 is a ridiculous joke. The Making Of on both DVD's are pretty interesting, but they can't make me to add the fourth star this time. On the other side, nobody promised us something special with these discs, so if you are even a small dino fan then go on and get the stuff.

Summary: JP AND JP2 2 DISC SET FULL SCREEN
Review: I was basically disappointed about getting the full screen version. But that was my fault. On a bright side the movies are very enjoyable, each has great sound and excellent picture. The extras did not impress me, had a couple instances where it would pause in the middle of the extras, fortunately it did not happen during playback of the movie. I guess Universal needs to get there things together. i give it three stars..

Summary: A DVD collection review
Review: A slightly above average collection of DVDs. Both films come with a 50-minute documentary. Like the films they represent, the first is better than the second. The second documentary is almost a repeat of the first. The Jurassic Park DVD comes with production photos, cast/crew biographies, storyboards, including a couple of scenes not shot and some handheld video of some production meetings, who cares? A small dinosaur section writes about the different dinosaurs featured, but it is the same in the Lost World even though they introduce new dinosaurs. I found this disappointing, but it's nothing that probably couldn't be found with a little research in the local library or Internet. Lost World comes with the above with two interesting unshot storyboard scenes with a different ending featuring flying dinosaurs. Two deleted scenes are included with Lost World, one a boardroom scene were they vote to fire Hammond as CEO, rightfully cut and another which gives more background into the motivation of Roland the head hunter which I liked. The production photos are even more boring, here mainly showing Spielberg looking thorough cameras or talking to actors. Finally a item they call a trailer for the planned third film is included. Calling this a trailer is ludicrous. It consists of dinosaur roars and a logo with is completely uninformative. Why they bothered to include it is beyond me. Overall I think this collection is a poor value. I think I'd just get the first film on DVD and not bother with the second.

Summary: Films lose edge on repeat viewing
Review: Well, JP and LW:JP both deserve a good DVD treatment. Unfortunately, they're Universal properties, so the best they got was "pretty good." But that's okay, because the original JP was not as good as I remembered it. I haven't seen it in like 6 years, and since the dinosaurs no longer impress me so much, I was able to focus on the (weak) plot. LW:JP was actually better this time, though still only "pretty good." The DVD transfers for both films are nice, though the sound seems to fluctuate when the dinos roar or things get demolished. The extras on JP are actually neat. Unfortunately, some of them (like the "Dino Dictionary") were simply recycled and repressed for LW:JP. Come on Universal, put some effort into it! Oh, and the "special JP3 Trailer" stinks. A few flashes of lightning, some pictures of a rainy island, and off-camera dinosaur roars, followed by an UGLY new logo. Ugh.

Review: THERE WERE NO PREVIEWS OF JURRASIC PARK III. JUST A TEASER WITH NO DINOS IN SIGHT. JUST SOUNDS OF THEM. WAIT UNTIL THE EXTRAS ARE BETTER BEFORE GETTING THESE MOVIES ON DVD. YOU KNOW THEY'LL COME OUT WITH A SPECIAL EDITION WITH REAL EXTRAS.

Review: Here's the scooop....there's not a lot here to motivate you to buy this set, especially since the third installment is already in the works... Hey, I love the films too, but we've all seen them...it's what we didn't see that we were missing, right? If you think that there's some great director's commentary track, or some incredible revelation into the mind of the characters and the future of the franchise...neither is present. It's like they didn't put any thought into the "collector's set." So if you have the VHS's, and can live without the widescreen, don't buy it; rather, rent it and enjoy the sound/picture, and wait for the three-pack. You have to believe that more thought and consideration will be put into the films that go around. Sttteeeeeevvvvveeeeee.....shaaaaaare your thoughts with us...honest, we think you're ok. More, please. 3 stars for average...it's a great if it's a gift or you don't already own the VHS's, average or less if you do.

Summary: DTS and DD, widescreen vs. 4:3
Review: First off, this is in response to a previous review from that person complaining about the movie being in Dolby Digital, not DTS, and not having the boxed set avaliable in full-screen format. Why would anyone want a movie encoded in DTS over Dolby Digital? The sheer amount of software avaliable in DD (3000+, I think) is utterly staggering compared to the soon-to-be defunct DTS (less than 100 titles, I believe). Also, there are those of us out there that don't have a DTS decoder on our home theatre receivers. I've listened to both formats and didn't hear a difference. DTS takes up so much bandwidth that to put a movie on DVD in DTS severely limits the amount of special features that may be put on the disc. So we have a few problems. That is why DTS isn't long for this earth, and we will end up burying it with 8-track tapes and laserdiscs. This will probably happen within one year. Secondly, why on earth would you want a DVD movie in full-screen? The widescreen format keeps the original version of the movie much better. Full-screen is great--if you like missing half of the movie. Personally, I haven't seen the new DVD releases of the two Jurassic Park movies. I'm sure they're great, but I just felt the need to vent some personal frustrations.

Review: What a bunch of crap, I bought it because it said it had over 60 minutes of new footage. The length in time for both movies was the same as the VHS editions. Very big disappointment
