Summary: Same old story, same old characters
Review: I saw this movie at a friend's house and I had really looked forward to seeing it because 'Snow White' is one of the most amazing ferry tales. There have been many productions of this ferry tale and I thought that maybe this time they'd take the story in a whole new direction and give it a new meaning. But I must say that I watched the movie and aside from its nice production values and pretty good acting in the parts of the step mom and king, it was an utter disappointment. My major problem is with the script.
First, events would occur which made little logical sense that the movie did not try to explain, like the use of flying mirrors. Second, I just couldn't get into the gag on the dwarves. Why is one tall, why is one a woman, why are they dressed in rainbow? And if they can control the weather, why can't they save Snow White when she eats the apple? Third, the step mother part was 'dark and evil' and the Snow White part was very sweet but bland and I had trouble really rooting for her, aside from her pretty face. As with every production of this story that I have seen, these two characters were depicted in their cookie cutter roles as 'dark and evil' step mom and 'sweet but boring' Snow White, which I think is a crime because they miss out on a potentially very complicated relationship between Snow White and her step mom.
In conclusion, this is an ok film to entertain older children but if you want to get a new spin on the story, this isn't the movie to see it. At best, check out the Sigourney Weaver version which is at least a lot more passionate, and is much better but also falls short.

Summary: Umm...okaaay.....
Review: Thank Heaven I saw this on TV and didn't have to waste any money on buying this movie. I hate being so negative about someone elses hard work, but this movie was pretty lame. I thought that the Evil Queen wasn't as 'dark' and frightening' as she should have been, and Kristin Kreuk may have looked like Snow White...but she isn't the best actress out there....those scenes where she faints, chokes, etc are very badly acted out, it seems her main concern was looking as pretty as possible while fleeing from death. And can someone explain those dwarves?? Named after the days of the week and clad in rainbow attire, it was sickening. oh, and why was there a 7 foot tall 'dwarf' in bright yellow?? Obviously someone was trying to hard to funny.

With exceptions of the colouring, some of the effects, and pretty costumes, this movie is a bit insipid, and most of it came off as cheesy. It is something to watch when you're bored, but flying mirrors aren't the most intriguing thing out there to occupy your time.

Summary: Check out Snow White - A Tale of Terror
Review: This is by no means a dark version of snow White; it is in fact rather gaudy and hokey at most times. Granted it is not as bright and cheery as a Disney movie but it is in no way what I would call a good version of the story. I would recommend for those of you seriously interested in a well-done dark version of snow white (that does not include brightly colored dwarfs riding rainbows) to check out "Snow White - A Tale of Terror".

"Snow White - A Tale of Terror" is much darker and stars Sigourney Weaver as the evil queen; it also in fact has no dwarfs but instead stars a band of miscreants hiding in the woods. It is very dark and gruesome, and has enough twists to hold your attention throughout the entire movie; on top of that the acting is bewitching. This movie manages to be romantic, scary, enchanting, and at some points funny. You connect with the characters and even at some points feel sorry for the evil queen. "Snow White - A Tale of Terror" is by far the best version of snow white that I have ever seen. Read some of the reviews for the movie and see what others have said about it. I highly recommend checking it out if you have shown any interest in “Snow White â€" The Fairest of them All”. I can whole heartedly guarantee you will have a greater fondness for "Snow White - A Tale of Terror" then you would ever have had for “Snow White â€" The Fairest of them All”.

Summary: Snow Wierd
Review: Kristin Kreuk is lovely as Snow White; perfectly cast. I could watch her clipping her toenails; she is so beautiful. The plot is a bit wacky, but tons of fun, especially the twist on the 7 dwarfs. If you like this movie you will probably also like Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story, Tenth Kingdom, and The Snow Queen (almost too much the same). The same is true in reverse; if you liked those movies, you will probably enjoy this one.

Summary: Hallmark does it again
Review: Another disappointing delivery from Hallmark, which is a pity, as Arabian Nights was excellent, and Merlin was pretty okay. I confess I was disturbed on one level: there was something terribly "Willy Wonca" about it. I think it was because the dwarves looked like oompah-loompah hybrids in their ridiculous rainbow costumes. The exceedingly wholesome and annoying dwarves are named after the days of the week (the Sleepy, Dopey, Grumpy thing was a Disney additive and no doubt copyrighted. In the original story they were nameless...) and these friendly fellows can - hold your breath for this one - conjure a magic rainbow and transport themselves about the countryside! There is also a giant dwarf dressed from head to toe in appalling yellow, apparently to inject some humour ... [shudder].

Leave this one on the shelf, folks; if you are above four years of age you might find it sickening.

Summary: Painful
Review: I thought I could rely on Amazon's editorial review for honesty - I was mistaken. And this is not the dark, gritty tale so many of the subsequent reviewers want you to believe. This was the worst version of the much-told Snow White I've ever had the misfortune of watching. Cringe-worthy, technicolor vomit; as soon as I saw those sugary dwarves in their neon rainbow outfits I knew I'd been severely cheated. To compile all the faults in this bad school play caught on film would exceed the maximum word limit. Dwarves aside, the most annoying factor for me was Miranda Richardson's character (bedecked in a terrible red wig, she does her best with this fodder): the "evil Queen". She is transformed from an ugly peasant-hag into the - cough - "fairest of them all", by a scabby-faced genie-thing (her brother?). Question is, why didn't this supposed genie make the aging beauty at least two decades younger while he was at it? --SPOILER WARNING-- Did any of the other viewers notice when the Queen was changed back into a hag it appeared to be a completely different actress below the make-up, who resembled nothing of the pre-queen hag...??? -- END SPOILER -- Plot-holes galore. Runs like a dress rehearsal. Uninspired cinematography. Undisguisedly filmed in Canada(?) Second-rate costumes. Shoddy sets. One dimensional performances. Save your hard-earned cash. Rotten; don't bother.

Summary: Dreadful.
Review: Simply awful rehashing of Snow White that fails to deliver on all levels. Mediocre performances, dreadful sets and costumes...do not even bother. Only for the very, very young - and even then it's a stretch.

Summary: One Of the Worst
Review: A lot of people have been giving this film a lot of credit and I can't quite get the why part in that. There are many other Snow White retellings that are far better then this. Such as Tanith Lee's "White As Snow" a great book for young adults and adults alike."Snow White-A Tale Of Terror" staring Sigourney Weaver as the wicked step mother. So please save the money and look for a better retelling for Snow White.

Review: When I saw the preview for this made-for-tv movie, I couldn't wait to see it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The characters were annoying, the acting was bad, and the plot was terrible.

Summary: A very good Snow White Movie
Review: Caroline Thompson and Hallmark really did an excellent job with the Snow White fairy tale. I like the days of the week names for the dwarfs and the special effects make this movie very exciting. Kristin Kreuk was the perfect choice to play Snow White. She even looks pretty enough to be a real life Snow White. I'm so glad I happened to catch it the Sunday that it aired on The Wonderful World of Disney. I think if they had released this movie to theatres first instead of it just being a made for TV release they would have possibly gotten very high reviews and maybe been nominated for an academy award in some catagory. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.
