Summary: Well Done Action
Review: Okay, so the movie is rather implausible, and a little undercooked, but the good acting by all the actors and the wonderful direction by John Frankenheimer helps us overlook the plot holes. Ehren Krueger, who also wrote Arlington Road and Scream 3, has put together a taunt thriller that at least tries to remain credible. Very well done movie, with some suprising plot twists, and as always, some cool gunplay. Also, Ben Affleck is a hoot! LOVE THE ENDING!!!

Summary: A surprise ending save this movie
Review: You have to sit through at least an hour of this movie before it starts to get your attention. The casino robbery scene is quite exciting and the DVD provides good 5.1 surround activities. And the surprise ending saves this movie from being below average action movie. The story is about a convict (Ben Affleck) who just released from prison and was mistaken as ex security guard from a small casino and forced to rob the casino. Sounds good, well let me tell me it is very boring until the last 30 minutes or so. If you are looking for a good action DVD, this is not it.

Summary: the theme of death when it comes to heroes
Review: This summer there will be huge anticipations upon several of the upcoming movies. But what about the ones already out? Reindeer games has been hugely proclaimed as the set of difference between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. It has been stated: Matt does drama and Ben does action. So how does he do it? Farely good but he's childish in his own way, just look at the porely played character in Dogma. But in this pic he's trying to add new stuff to the not so much heor that he is (not). Everybody makes up for this movie even Charlize after the really harsh wife character in Austronaut's wife. So what about the theme? A spiler perhaps when it comes to alla these movies this year is that the hero dies. Ben Affleck dies, Tom Cruise dies, Nicolas Cage dies, and Mel gibson dies. Some may be obvious and others in sense of aspects to the story, but nevertheless, this is what will happen. Ehren Kruger did good on scream 3 and here he outdoes himself. But he can do better. Arlington proved that. Whatever that was about.

Summary: The Best Action Thriller This Year
Review: I thought that Reindeer Games was really cool. Ben Affleck and Gary Sinise did great jobs. It starts off a tad bit slow but the middle and end deffinetly make up for it. It has a very great and suprising ending. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes action

Summary: What! You've got to be kidding me.
Review: This is one of the worst movies in years. Why did the great John Frankenheimer agree to direct this garbage? After his comeback with the amazing, overlooked Ronin, I expected this to be a smart, entertaining movie. It was neither smart nor entertaining. More than anything I feel sorry for Frankenheimer, no director, no matter how talented or professional, could have turned this script into a decent movie. The plot went from being boring to just plain stupid, and the acting was bad. Ben Affleck just can't act. He has more than worn out his welcome, and it is time for him to fade from the public eye (Matt Damon, too, for that matter). If Afflect is supposed to be the new Everyman, in the tradition of Harrison Ford, then why do I feel like punching him in the nose every time I see one of his movies? I like Gary Sinise, but why was he in this rotten movie? Charlize Theron is a good actress, but her character is so poorly written that no amount of talent could have fixed it. The writing is Reindeer Games biggest fault. The jokes are miserable, the plot twists are silly to the point of being insulting to the audience, and the characters are laughably written. I don't understand how Ehrin Kreuger could go from writing Arlington Road to writing this poor excuse for a movie.

Summary: Drags in the middle, but overall fairly good
Review: The middle part of the movie is the weakest part. The prison part is fun, and the ending has a bunch of twists and turns that could have been sorely used earlier. The main theme of the central part of the movie is really Ben Affleck getting punched in the guts. Not bad, but I could have wished for more.

So if you decide to watch this movie, don't expect too much. You should find enough to keep yourself entertained. And if you feel it start to drag, hang in there 'til the end, when cool stuff happens.

Summary: REINDEER GAMES Shoots Down Other Action Movies!
Review: REINDEER GAMES is not your ordinary action thriller-that's why I love it! The story may seem simple: an ex-convict is released from prison and is forced to help a gang of gun runners rob a casino on Christmas Eve, but there are plenty of double-crosses and plot twists in this movie to make your head spin. Ben Affleck, Gary Sinise, and Charlize Theron are excellent in the roles they have been cast to play. I have to say the best thing about this movie is the twist ending that really shocked me. This movie lives up to it's tagline: Who can you trust?

Summary: I Wouldn't Call This an Action Picture, But It's Still Good
Review: A few of the reviews of "Reindeer Games", mostly negative ones, refer to it mistakenly as an action picture. I don't agree with that characterization. This is more like a good crime drama, with a little bit of action here and there.

Ben Affleck portrays a prisoner who along with his cellmate is ready to leave prison. When the cellmate unexpectedly dies, Affleck takes his place and meets a woman (Charlize Theron) with whom the cellmate had a "pen pal" relationship. He is soon unwillingly recruited by her brother (Gary Sinise) to assist in a casino robbery.

The plot was interesting and has more than a few unexpected and somewhat implausible plot twists, but it nevertheless entertains. Director John Frankenheimer's stock in trade is taut political dramas such as "Seven Days in May" and "The Manchurian Candidate", which typically don't feature much gunplay or violence, and the violence in this film is certainly restrained compared to what one would normally expect to see in a motion picture of this nature. This may be what some viewers found so disappointing.

The acting was good all around. Sinise, in particular, shines as a malevolent truck driver with just a hint of Charlie Manson. Performances like this leave little doubt as to why he's one of the best supporting actors in motion pictures. Dennis Farina, also a favorite of mine, is very good as a disenfranchised casino manager.

I recommend "Reindeer Games", but not as a "shoot-em-up" good-guy bad-guy movie like "Die Hard".
