Rating: Summary: AntiTrust, a very intense thriller! A GREAT DVD TOO! Review: If you're like me you were expecting a movie that was kind of like THE NET with Sandra Bullock, well it was but this was more intense. The DVD has great features that include: AN EXCELLENT MUSIC VIDEO FROM EVERCLEAR, THEATRICAL TRAILER, DELETED SCENES, AUDIO COMMENTARY, ALTERNATE OPENING AND ENDING SCENES, EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENTARY, WIDESCREEN FORMAT, 5.1 DOLBY DIGITAL, FRENCH AND SPANISH SUBTITLES! If you liked the Matrix you might also like this movie! INTENSE AND FILLED WITH ACTION AND THRILLS! Better than I expected! One note to MGM: THIS IS NOT A SPECIAL EDITION DVD! A special edition contains everything above and the deleted scenes restored in the film, full-frame formats, and more! But keep the so-called special editions coming!
Rating: Summary: Antitrust...the new Hackers!!!! Review: If you like computers at all...this is a movie for you. IF YOU LIKED HACKERS, WATCH THIS MOVIE. It's Hackers for the new computer generation. It plays on another conspiracy theory, but this time is goes through it with you instead of trying to solve the already existing problem.
Rating: Summary: LOL---Oh god that was funny Review: Let me just start out with the "touching" quote that will "strike the hearts of viewers all over the world" that is said by Ryan Phillipe says towards the end of the film...(I am not kidding you, this is what he says) "In the real world, when you kill people, they die, for real." How's that, ladies and gentlemen? Words to live by! (now read that over with over-sarcasm and you'll get my point) This movie [portrays] things that just could never happen in life...ok, maybe if you actually live in the world where nothing you do is use computers and make these really cheesy gang gestures with your friends, but not many people do, so this movie is very unlikely... My god, the scripting here is [bad]...most of it makes sense at all (see above quote) and is trying to make an impact on today's world (see above quote) but in no way does it accomplish that (see above quote) at all. And it's not just the quote that makes the movie bad, it's the movie that makes itself bad...the scripting, mostly. It seems as if it was written in about 3 days. The characters are developed well, and the music is ok, but those are the only things this film has got going for it...it's a teenage "Dawson's Creek" version of The Net, only it is so much more worse than that, attempting to be scary while only making it as a 2:00-in-the-morning-hyper-on-pepsi movie, but then again there are many people who did actually like the film and I should be no influence on your opinion either, so the only way you'll know is if you actually see the movie somehow without spending a lot of money, which, unfortunatly, was was my friends and I did one evening when we had nothing to do. If you enjoy [bad] teenage suspense with terrible scripting, by all means go ahead. Otherwise, move away from this movie. Far away. You're not far enough!!! (overall, I think this would make it big on MST3k if only it was still airing)
Rating: Summary: Antitrust Review: While maybe not the best of 2001...it certainly deserves 5 stars. The movie gracefully showed many aspects of the modern computer industry, while taking its(the industry's) viciousness to another level. Maybe you have to embrace the future to enjoy this movie. Or maybe you just need an open mind, but i saw this movie 3 times in theaters and every time on the way out, the people around proclaimed the greatness of the cast and the overall entertainment factor of the movie in general.
Rating: Summary: Could have been better Review: I watched this movie expecting a thriller what i got was a drama that is how i feel about the movie. it started out very very very slow and the beginning of the movie was pointless. It did speed up during the movie but not fast paced enough for a movie of that callabre and with those actors. The movie is about a computer geek Milo him and his friend Teddy want to open a free source program a small startup company but Milo is recruited by NURV and their friendship is split up because NURV is being sued for monopolising. The leader of NURV recruits Milo personally for the new gadget synapse . Things go terribly wrong Teddy is killed and Milo suspects his employer of doing it. The actors where very convincing and there was a lot of plot twists which did add to the exciting but my overall impression is that it is a good movie but could have done better
Rating: Summary: Super film ! Review: What can I say I LOVED this movie (saw it on a wee screen high in the sky with BA) ... The characters are believable, what's happening in the movie is also very believable and well rendered. Ryan plays the cool computer genius greatly, and Tim charisma delivers great speeches a la "put the name of a great leader you want in here" ;-)... Really a good movie, could have gone deeper into technoloy but like this won't bother a non geekie public.
Rating: Summary: Something in the middle of The NET and Hackers Review: This movie can be the best movie in the past computer related movies like Wargames, The NET and Hackers. Ryan Phillippe's performance is good. And don't expect 5 star for these movies because these are computer related thriller movies. You can't see special effects and that makes the movie bad for many people.
Rating: Summary: Worst Movie Ever Review: One of the worst movies ever to hit the screen. The charecters are completely and utterly ridicolous, and the script should have been burned. The actors fared off ok but its still utterly unbelieveable. Of all the Tech based movies out there, this is just utterly bad. A clasic example of Bill Gates but who wants to watch that. If I want to see a Bill Gates strugle I would rather go with the clasic between Gates and Jobbs. This movie is not worth the rent or buy. Unless you know nothing about technology and the workings of its industry, you should stay far far away from this one.
Rating: Summary: I Know what Tim Robbins Did Last Summer Review: Ryan Phillippe acquits himself credibly as genius geek who gets his big break working for a Bill Gates wannabe, played by Tim Robbins. The biggest problem, going in, is open source versus commercialism. As the flick begins, Milo's (Phillippe's character) biggest dillemma is sorting out open-source Anarchism from Capitalist wage-slave (albeit elite) seduction. While Milo makes the "wrong" choice, it propels him into the storyline of this movie. Slowly we see that Robbins would put a James Bond villain to shame. Eventually, Milo figures that out, too. Don't worry about being too slow to pick up what's going on, the major plot is spelled out so that even the most clueless jock can keep track. Some interesting cinematic devices are used (notice the digital art during a climactic sequence) and the actors compel us to take part in the story. Plenty of clues forshadow important plot elements, so viewers may feel smarter than they really are as they predict what will happen next. For the real propellor heads, actual HTML & BASH codes are used. Massive Attack's "Angel" fits perfectly into a key dramatic moment. How much longer can Tim Robbins go on playing charismatic psychopaths without getting typecast? Four stars for plot, four stars for revealing the plot, four stars for acting. Overall, a great Friday night entertainment flick. Won't win any awards, but who cares? It's fun.
