Summary: One of Van Damme's best films EVER!
Review: Very cool film. Revenge, training, corruption and FIGHTING.
This movie stands tall, up there with the best of Van Damme.
Great film, great final fight.

I would recommend buying this movie on DVD.

Review: the make up of michel qissi as tong po is perfect.
beautiful backgrounds like stonecity, brutal (and realistic fightscenes), dynamicly and funny trainingsscenes and the music makes it to one of the best martial arts films ever.
not only for martial arts fans.
the perfect inspiration to train muay thai.

Summary: Great for a martial arts flick
Review: Ok, so this movie came out in the 80s when every sports-oriented movie featured some rip-off song that was supposed to sound like "Eye of the Tiger," and the men had blow-dried hair and the acting was way too melodramatic...and yet, Kickboxer is still a damn good movie despite having these inherent flaws. Van Damme is mainly a martial artist, not an actor, but he does one thing that none of the other action stars could ever do---he makes you feel sympathetic towards him. He can act distressed, scared, out of control with fear, and we actually believe him. Stallone, Schwartzenegger and Segal sure as hell couldn't do it, but Van Damme can. Because of this, you really feel for his character in this film. We follow him during his training to become a kickboxer and we feel his pain and his frustration. His "master," by the way, does some of the best acting of any person who has ever starred in any martial arts film. He's hilarious! While the fight scenes are good, they only make up about 20 minutes of this 90 minute movie. Although there are some really cheesy moments and a few bits of ridiculously bad dialogue, all in all this movie should be rated tops in the genre or martial arts flicks.

Summary: AMAZING
Review: I recently purchased this movie on dvd and let me tell you that it is still amazing as ever! Jean Claude is at his best in this movie, with the amazing (but painful) training scenes and well choreographed fight scenes. The last fight between Jean Claude and Tong-Po are awesome. I would recommend this movie to any JCVD fan out there. Go buy this movie right now, it will not let you down. Truly an amazing movie!

Summary: The Best Van Damme EVer Made!!
Review: I own many movies of Van DAmme...(not to sound kocky or anything)But let me tell you this is his best movie ever..better than bloodsport!! Van Damme is (Nuk Sue Coa) A.K.A. the great White Warrior...he tries to fight Tong poi after he kills his brother in a kickboxing match...Van Damme trains and trains and finally gets to get in a match with Tong Poi. The Action and fighting sequences are amazing..The intensity is also astonishing as well. Believe me blood sport was good but the intensity doesn't compare..Trust me...if u don't own this movie..ur missing out...and im the one missing out..cuz this movie is out of print!!! And i can find it naywhere....But if u do see this buy it..and please don't hesistate..!!!

Summary: Van Dammes best
Review: This is a movie where van damme does a good role, and he choregraphs the fights as well. A really good martial arts movie, but it gives a twisted picture of muai thai (Thai boxing), you dont do split kicks and you mostly kick to the legs. Thats not what van damme does. He kicks to the head as usual, and he never uses his knees like a real thai boxer. Otherwise a damn good movie.

Summary: It's not what you think it is!
Review: I have seen this movie a gazillion of times. First of all, if you like Martial Arts, it's a good movie to watch and have fun with. Most people's compared this movie with Bloodsport. Let me tell you, they have no clue about Martial Arts and its styles. They are two completely different styles, one is a pure and clean combination of Chinese style, on the other hand, we have Mu-Tai, a Thailand style used by ancient warriors.

You cannot never limite yourself to one style only. I have my own black belt in Tae Kwon Do, also I enjoy Yoga and full contact. Those two movies mentioned above are classic and there are a must have. Not only because they are good movies, but it is Jean Claude Van Damme, a white guy who brought a new way to see the Martial Arts. He has his own style, he is good at what he does. Therefore, I recommend you these two and any other Van Damme movies. It is not what he does, but how he does it.

Summary: revenge is a dangerious motive
Review: van damme use to be good but know he's making some useless unprofitable movie like derail, shu, afterdearh the order although i quite like the replicant but kickboxer is my all time favoutie martial movie and i heard he might be making kickboxer 6 i think it won't be good as the first one

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: This movie is good but not great!
Review: I can't believe this film is selling for way over a hundred bucks. The movie's plot seem to be a copy-cat of Bloodsport, except the fight takes place in Thailand instead of China. In addition, the music score doesn't even come close to match that of Bloodsport. This movie deserves a 3 stars for being about average, so please do yourself a favor and rent it first. If you are new to karate movies, I wholeheartedly recommend Van Damme's 'Bloodsport' instead. Plus, some other good kung-fu movies include 'Dragon : The Bruce Lee Story' and 'Best of the Best'.
