Summary: Don't go to see this one.
Review: This film may be funny for old people only. I can't believe I paid 7 dollars to see this pathetic, not funny and boring film! Clint Estwood, it is obvious that it is time for you to retire. You are tired dude. Don't try this unbearable load of trash. AVOID IT!

Summary: Don't believe the negative reviews.
Review: OK, lets get the bad news over with first. The last half hour is cheesy and unecessary, but having said that, no cheesier than the whole of Armageddon.

The rest is pure enjoyment.

The main characters gel so well you do believe these were a team 40 years ago, grizzled (but young) air force test pilots, with an a**hole for a boss. The humour is subtle but ever-present, I'm certain it would stand repeat viewing.

By the way, some people have said that Clints character would've been 18 when he designed the guidance system. Well, if he's 69 in the film (year 2000), he would've been 27 in '58, and about 33 to 36 when working as an engineer....makes sense to me!

All in all a thoroughly pleasant 110 minutes (with 30 minutes of hokum!)

Summary: Multi-Faceted
Review: This movie succedes both as a comedy and as a space adventure. Clint Eastwood and Tommy Lee Jones play well off each other and the other characters only add to the dimensions of this film. Whereas, this isn't Clint's best work it sure rates as a winner.

Summary: Space Cowboys is the best!
Review: Hey, the title says it all man!..LOL This movie had Clint...need I say more? Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner all give stellar performances. The combination of humor, drama, action/space adventure and character development is thoroughly comprehensive and unparalleled. With the first half being a wonderful and brilliant space adventure comedy and the second half a perfectly directed and acted drama/space action adventure, Space Cowboys truly has it all! HURRAY FOR SPACE COWBOYS!

However, the rating is 4 as I am not one to rate movies a 5 barring the fact that they are the best movies ever made and are equally flawless and without developmental defects. However, my one reservation concerns the films ending which I feel could have been much less mainstream and cliched. The last shot is pure directorial brilliance and demonstrates the clearly understated, subtle yet surreal aspect of the masterful direction of Clint Eastwood. It is perfectly Kubrickian and pays testament to the style of the late, great director. However, despite its merits, the conclusion scene knocks the total rating down a notch. As it stands however, this film rates at 4/4.5 out of 5.

Summary: A pleasantly entertaining movie.
Review: Originally, I had no burning desire to see this movie. However, after a couple of friends told me how good they thought it was, I decided I'd better go see it. I'm glad I did.

The byplay between Clint Eastwood and Tommy Lee Jones is reminiscent of that between Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in the ODD COUPLE movies. They just can't help but pick at each other. I think Donald Sutherland and James Garner could have had bigger roles in the movie (i.e., more lines), but they did a beautiful job with what they had.

The story in this movie was engaging. I found myself asking the same questions as the characters. The action and the comedy were both subtle and more effective for it. I think the strong point of this movie was its characters. They were all vivid and pretty well developed. Their motivations were easy to understand. The one shortcoming was that there was no emotional attachment to them and so one part of the climax didn't have the effect it should have.

All in all, this was a very enjoyable movie. If you're looking for a good laugh and a sense of wonder, this will definitely satisfy you. If you're looking for slap-bang action, go somewhere else.

Summary: ...
Review: This was a great movie, proving once again, that Eastwood has a lot of fun making movies. This time he is joined with 3 veterans of the big and little screen, to show us younger folks, that some spices are best when allowed to age. The "aging" jokes were delightful, and hilarious, especially cute when they pass baby food to the younger astronauts. Tommy Lee Jones shines as the Hawk, and Donald Sutherland is adorable in his scene stealing. James Garner always makes me feel happy and secure that he is on the scene. Eastwood continues to surprise me with his range of scope, though I've been a fan since his Rawhide days. This is a great feel good movie, and one of the few new ones that I want to add to my collection of classics.

Summary: an Okay Movie, But...
Review: The Good news; This film really shines because of the performers; Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner, and Donald Sutherland, and we once again see the crew at ILM do some great effects work, The Bad News; THis film's script lacks any real drama with the fate of one of the space cowboys decited even before they go into space, You can see it coming from a hundred miles away, Still in all; It's a pretty good film with Clint showing us that he has real talent both as an actor and director.

Summary: Grumpy Old Space Men
Review: Clint Eastwood has got to let it go.

Four old farts (Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, James Garner, and finally Clint Eastwood) are sent to go back to space after this big crap thing about them replacing Tommy Lee Jones and Clint Eastwood (Hawk and Frank) with a monkey.

Fourty years later, there's this big thing where they have to send Frank (Eastwood) up to space to fix this satellite that he built...that he was eighteen? I don't think so. He argues with this NASA dude that he calls "Bob," which sounds pathetic in the conversation.

There's this period of training which is absolutely hilarious, and should have kept that as the main core of the movie, because it was the only good part of the movie.

Then there's this Armageddon-ish, unoriginal, cheesy crap. I thought it was a stupid movie other than the hour with laughs galore.

It's a take it or leave it, but it definitely wasn't worth my money...but, the comedy was great, and the movie should have stuck with that, and the ending was them going into space or something.
