Summary: Technicolor film noir!
Review: As with the main character played unsympathetically by Sean Penn, I was alienated throughout the entire film, finding only Jennifer Lopez' character to be open and welcoming...
There was no mention of the JFK conspiracy unless one looked deeply.

Summary: Illegal "U-Turn"
Review: "How come Patsy Cline don't make no more records?" That's a tough one. Bobby Cooper's (Sean Penn) car breaks down in an Arizona town and he meets the weirdest people. A blind Indian (Jon Voight), a fat, extremely greasy mechanic (Billy Bob Thornton), a goofy sheriff (Powers Boothe), a dumb-as-a-doorknob girl (Claire Danes), her boyfriend (Joaquin Phoenix), a mystery woman in a red dress (Jennifer Lopez) and a moldy old man (Nick Nolte). There are too many characters and nobody to care about. A murder plot devises and incest happens. This is a diseased movie. Going to the morgue is more pleasant compared to watching this Oliver Stone mess.

Summary: Oliver Stone
Review: This is definitely an Oliver Stone movie. The symbolism and camera work are very good. If you loved Natural Born Killers as a film rather than as a movie, you'll like U Turn. If you like Gladiator, Titanic and other mainstream crap you'll hate it. If you like this I would also suggest Requiem for a Dream.

Summary: Were not for those scenes with J.Lopez....
Review: Okay, I said it all. The film has that kind of surrealistic atmosphere that makes everything artistically appealing, providing that the whole thing has been properly built-up.
The film is good and exilarating in some bits. It's all about that noir-humor that made lot of fortune in some scenes. The balance between humor and evil is not that special: there's nothing to laugh about in the slaughter core-scene, and in a movie like this one is supposed to laugh all the time.
Ok, as a critic I'm not that special. As a matter of fact, what madee me buy the film was the stunning sex-scene that plays when the movie is approaching its end, featuring a J.P. whose sex appeal I would define "obsessing".
If you needed a reason for buying this movie, now you've got it.

Summary: This isn't a Film for Grandma and Grandpa!
Review: I'll just get started by saying flat out I love this movie. I mean it is one hilarious, sick, twisted and violent beast. Probably not a movie for the over 60 crowd. The performances are all top notch from Sean Penn all the way down to the cameo appearance of Bo Hopkins. And then of course the scene stealer Jon Voight in one of his best performances in years. And I also have to say Jennifer Lopez has her best role to date going the full range from sexy to sympathetic to sinister. The picture quality on the DVD is great and really puts you in the great American SouthWest. Same goes for the sound. Why are you reading this when you should be buying this truly unique film experience.

Summary: U-TURN IS A VERY BAD MOVIE
Review: I can't even begin to say how awful this movie is.
The roadkill scenes in this movie should of never been made.
Its a very sick movie and its a stupid movie.
Avoid at all costs.

Summary: Very refreshing and fun Oliver Stone film!!!
Review: I'm not a big fan of Oliver Stone but this movie was awesome! Sean Penn does a great job of portraying the lowlife and is always believable. He could have carried this film on his own but he has a great supporting cast along with him! The scenes involving the disgusting mechanic played by BillyBob I could watch over and over again! Jennifer Lopez is sizzling as the seductive young housewife looking for a way out.
There are some unsettling scenes which might repulse some but nothing too over the top. The quick-cut style of filmaking and overacting that made Natural Born Killers so annoying is toned down and really works in this film. Nothing much in the way of extras on the DVD unfortunately but this movie doesn't need any. It's over two hours of action, thrills and fun!!! Don't miss!!!

Summary: Dragged out Drudgery
Review: It's always funny how people watch an Oliver Stone flick and are SHOCKED...ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED!! at all of its violence. If one has a weak stomach for enduring the contorted, self-indulgent and absurd imaginings of aging white men, then don't watch Oliver Stone's movies. Fair warning. If you then watch U-TURN and expect us to care for the blathering sanctimony about the violence corrupting your soul and the awfulness of it all...maybe you'd be better off watching CINDARELLA II.

All that aside, U-TURN is an absolutely dreadful movie. Not because of all of the ghastly images and its putrefied setting, but because it was downright boring and took forever to get over with. People are shocked by the roadkill introduction, but I liked it. Repugnance is harder to rationalize away when it is right in your face. That is, after all, the point. However, the rest of the movie was a draggingly dull affair of boring, opaque, and over the top characters. Even Penn's character was mystified by the excessively hammed doo-dads wandering around as people. There are a couple of good scenes: the grocery robbery, and the CATCH-22ish conversations with Daryl the repairman (Thornton) stand out. Jon Voigt was amusing as the old Indian. Other than that, the movie was a garish ripoff of time-tried concepts from the TWILIGHT ZONE mixed with salacious and taboo sex.

The movie wallows in its dullness. Sean Penn does a good job creating empathy for a scumbag low-life character, but the merry-go-round feel gets tedious and dull. Of all the fine actors, the vaunted director, the hot babe, and the edgy mindset, one would think the final product would have been provocative and enduring. Instead, the weakest of scripts and shabbiest of plots make efforts silliness. This film will titillate future high-school kids, but beyond that it is little more than a B-grade oddity.

Summary: It was a good movie!
Review: I think U-Turn was a good movie. I think Sean Penn is sooo hot and I absolutely love him. I think Jennifer played a good role as Grace McKenna. I'm only 14 so I didn't really get the movie at first but, then I got into and already watched it 3 times. Bobby Cooper played by Sean gave a great performance, and had a awesome car. I think the movie is a must-see film. I Love You Sean.

Summary: More depressing than a British train
Review: Some films, they're depressing and miserable, but you can see that they're good and enjoy them on this level. This one, however, is just so full of despair and misery that the rest of it is irrelevant. I came away from it wondering why I just wasted a couple of hours of my life on it. Even Jennifer Lopez in skimpy costumes does nothing to lift the flagging spirits. Never watch this film if you're miserable to start with; it could just push you over the edge.
