Summary: Harry's back! And better!
Review: As I've already watched thee first movie, I' ve seen that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a big improvement on the first.
More daring adventures as we expore the world of young Harry together with Ron, and Hermione.. This is a great movie, better than the first, I should say!

Summary: Not as dark as I'd been led to believe
Review: I hadn't expected to be able to share my impressions of this movie with other Amazon customers until it came out on video in six months or so, and I'm pleased to find the opportunity. It had been a while since I read the book (though I plan to pull it out again tonight), so I came to "Harry II" without any clear recollection of the plot, and expected, from the hints I'd read, something really "down" and scary. Well, scary it can get--the whole basilisk sequence is definitely not for people who get nervous around snakes, and don't even *consider* going if, like Ron Weasley, you're afraid of spiders! Yet in the end this film, like its predecessor, reaffirms plenty of positive values--courage, selflessness, quick thinking, honesty, loyalty. Harry and his friends must stand by gamekeeper Hagrid and Headmaster Dumbledore in a time of trial, deal with a charismatic but not at all truthful new Professor (Kenneth Branagh doing a wonderful turn, with lots of charm and a great wardrobe), and solve the mystery of who, or what, is leaving students literally petrified all over the corridors of Hogwarts School.

The young stars are even better this time out than they were in their first outing; Daniel Ratcliffe (Harry) suitably serious and focused, Emma Watson (Hermione) a perfect prodigy, and Rupert Grint (Ron) displaying a genuine gift for comic emphasis. All the old cast is back--Professors McGonagall and Snape, Harry's rival Draco Malfoy, quidditch-team captain Oliver Wood, Nearly Headless Nick the Gryffindor ghost, Ron's older twin brothers Fred and George, Harry's horrible Muggle kin the Dursleys--and there are a few new ones too, including Hermione Grainger's Muggle parents (briefly seen in the bookshop in Diagon Alley), Draco's sinister but stunningly handsome father, Mr. Weasley, mistress-of-the-greenhouses Professor Sprout, a new ghost named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the bathroom where she died (and provides an important clue in Harry's quest for the answers), and the magically preserved sixteen-year-old self of the mysterious Tom Riddle, who attended Hogwarts 50 years ago. The special effects are, if anything, even better than they were in the first movie--that basilisk is worth the ticket price in himself, not to mention a flying car, Dobby the house-elf, and a second chilling Quidditch match. The one scene I had feared--Harry's discovery of caretaker Filch's obnoxious cat, Mrs. Norris, after the mysterious petrifier has had its way with her--turned out to be nowhere near as bad as I had expected. Despite its length, time literally flew--there's never a moment of boredom. My chief gripe was that the theater had the sound turned up much too loud!

You will want to think twice before taking very young or sensitive children to see "Chamber of Secrets," but for all the rest of the 90% or so of the known world that's "just wild about Harry," this is a must-see. And a must-buy, when it gets to video!

Summary: Definately NOT for Kids
Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was the only Harry Potter novel I really liked, therefore I couldn't wait for the movie to come out.I was especially interested in how Tarantula Co. (ie. Eight Legged Freaks) would recreate Aragog, the giant talking spider.
But after seeing it only yesterday night I have to say that this movie is one of the most horrific movies I have ever seen. Many surprises, parts that really make you jump, but if you have read the novel before seeing the film, you probably would expect a lot of them.
This movie was excellent, for the first one was absolutely lame, and Ron Weasley says "Bloody Hell" and all that sort of stuff a lot more in this film.
What I didn't understand was how the Chamber of Secrets was only given a PG rating for "some scary moments". Let me just say one thing: You see a bloodied petrified cat hanging next to a message written on the wall in BLOOD. In fact, the last message said "Her (Ginny Weasley) skeleton will lay in the Chamber of Secrets forever". This is definately not family entertainment. To arachnophobes, the Aragog scene is the most horrific part of the movie. For people afraid of snakes, well, this movie contains a whole lot of these.
This movie is every teenager's dream: The sci-fi fantasy of Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars and the blood and gore of a rated R action movie.
So I am warning all parents who plan to take their kids to the movies: If you would like to sit there for three hours and your children are scared of spiders or snakes or people barfing up slugs (Ron Weasley), this movie is not for you.
I'm not saying this movie is bad or anything, for it's awesome, but I'm just warning you.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: As an avid fan of the Harry Potter novels, I must say I was disappointed with this film rendition. Not only was the book superior to the movie, but the first movie was also superior.

Chris Columbus follows the book too slavishly. Movies are different from books, and they should be handled differently. Although it is 161 minutes, the movie seemed to be well over three hours long while watching. Some scenes definitely should have been removed, most notably the spiders and the Polyjuice Potion, which the film could have easily done without.

Another complaint I had was that Azkaban was not portrayed as the horrifying place as in the book. When Fudge and Dumbledore tell Hagrid he is headed to Azkaban, Hagrid doesn't seem to care at all and offers no resistance.

The movie was better in some respects. I enjoyed the opening sequence more than I did while reading the book, and the CGI is more refined than in the preceding film.

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is my least favorite of all the Harry Potter books. I feel the same way about the movie.

Summary: Better than the first :)
Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a very good movie. It is the continuation of the first Harry Potter and when he is 12 years old. Like the first one it is extremely long but the movie makes up for that. First of all be ready to listen to some weird voices(LOL) because the actors are clearly going through puberty. But still, the acting is good. The books are better but the movie still captures the "magic"(lol) of the books, but they definetly shouldn't of been made so early on. If you have read the books you already know what the movie is about. It's about a problem in Hogwarts that has to do with Voldermort, and there are many plot twists. It has more action than the original. This movie is also more scary.

In this the special effects are great, better than the first definetly. The Basilisk is cool looking. The flying car and the willow tree look nice too. The Quidditch is definetly improved. Of course it's not perfect, but there's not alot wrong with it. It was a great movie...

Summary: the best
Review: I have never, ever seen anything better than this. It will end up a classic, but, of course, it will never end! How foolish of me to say it would! It's just terribly good.

Summary: Better than the first one!
Review: WOW!!! This movie was by far better than the first. I saw it twice opening day. There was more action and it was hilarious. Rupert Grint (Ron) is a funny kid. The movie had me on the edge of my seat for the entire length of the film. I would definetly reccomend this movie to all HP fans!
