Summary: A Brilliant Film
Review: This is one of the few cases where a sequel is on par with the original. Like its predecessor ("Batman"), this is a very powerful, psychological, dark, and thought-provoking film. The cast is brilliant, the music is superb, and the art is beautiful. The subject matter is very haunting and the ending is very moving; this is a modern classic, just like the first one.

Summary: Definitely see this movie!
Review: This is a cool movie! Michael Keaton is pretty good as Batman. Danny DeVito and Michelle Pfeiffer were very good as Penguin and Catwoman. I'm glad they put Max Shreck in, because it adds a good twist, and why else would the Penguin be in this story? It got campy at times, but it's OK. This campy is a lot better than the awful lines in Batman & Robin. I give it 5 stars, because it's mysterious, just like Batman, the music is good, and the roles are played very well.

Summary: Best of Batman--on big screen
Review: This film deals with the theme of duality of human nature, as illustrated by the three main human characters--Batman, Catwoman and the Penguin--all of whom express their inability to fit into human society by extreme identification with their respective animal namesakes, and who carry out this rebellion against their own humanity in different ways. That's the REAL story in this film, under the grime and crime.

The sets are soaring and awe-inspiring, the situations are surrealistic and compelling, the plot is extreme...but hey, this isn't real life, it's a big-screen comic book tragicomedy of operatic proportions!

Unfortunately, the film is a bit too big for video. On the TV, the sets lose their mass and space, the Penguin loses his strangely majestic aura of tragedy, Selena's descent into insanity loses its mind-numbing tempestuosity....we are left with the undercoating of grunge, nastiness and comic-bookism.

Even so, it's worth seeing for its noir atmosphere, its originality, its stunts and special effects, and particularly for the wonderful, mind-bending soundtrack, one of Danny Elfman's very best, in my opinion.

Summary: It's not only a Great Sequel but a true Gothic Cult Classic.
Review: This movie works in so many levels that it demands multiple viewings. With out a doubt, One of the best sequels ever made. Tim Burton's Follow up to Batman Not only lives up to the original but stands alone as one of the most personal films ever made. Gothic, Surreal, and forbidding, This movie will be Study and talk about in the years to come

Summary: SURREAL GOTHIC MASTERPIECE
Review: Tim Burton's sequel to the 1989 smash is a personal masterpiece that has a dreamlike, expressionistic quality. Like the first film, there are problems with the plot, but this time it doesn't matter. It adds to the dreamlike atmosphere. The performance's are uniformly excellent. Danny Elfman's operatic score is the heart of the film; Michelle Pfeiffer's performance is it's soul. Like "Godfather II" and "Bride of Frankenstein", this is a sequel that outdoes the original in every way. It's reputation will grow in the years to come, and will be remembered as a great director's masterpiece.

Summary: It;s too Dark
Review: I don't what I disliked about this movie the most. The fact that Gothom City looks like a war zone, or the fact that the story's focus is not on Batman again (even though the movie is called Batman) or that the Penquin is the most repulsive one ever created for film. The first movie had Jack Nicolson in it, this one has nothing.

Summary: the best movie of the year!
Review: tim burton gives gotham city such mystery and danny elfman gives even more mystery!

Summary: Batman Returns
Review: I really *loved* this thrilling sequel to Tim Burton's"Batman:The Movie". Its one of my favourite movies! Both TimBurton's films are a zillion times better than Joel Schumachers 'Batman Forever' which totally s**ks, or even 'batman and Robin', which IMO, was quite good, but comapred to Batman Returns and Batman, it was nothing! Danny De Vito was the best actor in this masterpiece! No one can play the Penguin better than he can! He beats Jack Nicholson as Joker! Michelle Pheiffer was *excellent* as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, but I was a bit dissapointed with Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne(I love him as batman though). He's not very "Bruce-Waynish". They should have got someone else as Bruce Wayne! I also think they should have focused on Catwoman a little more.....they dont actually show that she's a very popular villain in Gotham City, and that people are afraid of her! Anyway, the film was terrific in its own right....the storylines couldnt be better....The film was so emotional and I also liked the darkness! The Penguin is a misguided deformed person who was abandoned by his parents because of his horrible looks. He grew up with the penguins, and was always seeking revenge on mankind, because he couldnt be a part of their society. He pretends that he's an angel, and that all he wants is to develop Goptham City, but deep inside, he's planning to make everyone miserable like him. Then we turn to Selina Kyle, who was thrown out of the window by her boss Max (who eventually teams up with the penguin to ruin Gotham City) for reading files which contained most of his evil plans. She vows revenge on her boss, and after realising that she has tremendous powers and skills, she turns into the villanous feline nemesis "Catwoman". She is one of the most dangerous villains Batman ever faced, but unknown to Batman and catwoman, their alter-egos Selina and Bruce and lovers...and now Catwoman has teamed up with the Penguin to destroy Batman and wreck Gotham City! This is one thrilling, action-packed movie which is NOT to be missed!
