Summary: Outstanding Movie!
Review: After watching the Superman and Batman movies I was thrilled to see Spiderman brought to the screen. This childhood hero of
mine was brought to life by Stan Lee in the 1960's in comin book form.I started reading about the exploits of Spiderman when I was 12 years old. Now I am 50 and am still a fan. Spiderman(Peter Parker) is well played by Toby Maguire. He plays a social out cast who is bitten by a super spider. He obtains super powers
akin to a spider. He is able to climb walls and obtains superhuman strength. He makes his debut in a wrestling ring by
defeating Randy Savage. He rescues a lovely lady portrayed by
Kirsten Dirst. The newspaper Jameisin looks and acts like the comic book character in the Spiderman comic book series.Another strong role in the movie is the character of the Green Goblin played by William Dafoe. He is the ultimate bad guy. The scenery and the special effects in this movie are beyond compare. The fight scenes between Spiderman and the Green Goblin are spectacular. An outstanding movie that I enjoyed. Buy this and watch it. You will not be dissapointed.

Summary: a satisfying, big-budget super-hero romp.
Review: When I first went to see this movie, I was stunned! I've experienced Superman, Batman, Blade and X-Men, all right, and those were all jolly good movies. However, this one really stands out. What's it got? Well, there's some amazing action sequences, yes, plus a hero and a villain that are equally enjoyable to see. That's all pretty good. But there's also another side to the movie that really adds to the enjoyment. Spider Man is a human story, dealing with serious issues of loyalty, growing up, identity, and conscience. Taking that into account, Spider Man is rather moving, aside from being kick-*ss.

All in all, this is a well made movie. It does have some flaws with the script and the CGI, but that doesn't take away from the fun. It's got bawls AND heart! Peace.

Summary: almost 4 stars... but not quite.
Review: I give it 3.75 or just under 4 stars. Spiderman was a decent and enjoyable movie, but still suffers from the curse of the superheroe movies.

First of all, I must say the fact that he had his webbing come directly out of his wrists bothered me. In the comics peter parker invented his webbing and used machines to shoot it, it wasn't one of the powers he got from being bitten by the radioactive spider. Also there are other inaccuracies. Stan Lee let the director and producers change things as they saw fit in both Spiderman AND Xmen (and probably will in daredevil and the hulk coming out soon too). I don't look kindly on to this. Why can't they stick to the original, perfectly good story? Every time a book or comic transitions into a movie people complain when they make changes... so why not listen for once??

Anyhow, some other things bugged me. Spiderman himself looked pretty good, in that he didnt look like a complete idiot in his spandex suit. But the green goblin's suit was just completely rediculous. I've also never been much of a fan of the old spiderman enemies (greengoblin being the main archvillain), Im a child of the 80's and early 90's so I always liked the newer characters like Venom, Carnage and such much more that the corny ones from the 60's. So I am a bit biassed. I also dont really like comics being made into movies because, well... come on... when a guy is running around with super spider powers in a cartoon or comic its dramatic, fun, and can even be taken seriously. But when you have a real guy running from roof to roof in tights in live action video... it's tough to not find it corny or silly.

Still this movie had many good points. It was generally an enjoyable experience. The special effects were great and it was much better all around than X-men was. The acting was ok, and while some points of the real comic story were altered many other details were kept in tact (at least sort of).

Overall this isn't a bad movie, but I don't consider it a GREAT movie either. It's a great choice to rent on a weekend or to put on at a get together though. And watching it once will probably be atleast somewhat enjoyable for most fans.

I cant give it 4 stars but it gets a solid 3 stars for sure.

Summary: Two movies in one.
Review: This blockbuster was good but one thing really struck me- there really are two movies here. The first one is how geeky Peter Parker is bitten by a spider and develops super powers. This part is great, really funny and original and Tobey McGuire is exceptional.
The second is your standard comic book action flick, which is good, filled with action, great set design and all the rest but I felt dropped down a notch from the first half.
All of the supporting cast is great with one particular nod to James Franco as Parkers best friend and son of Spideys arch nemesis - he really pulls off the inadequete rich boy to a tee and I hope he will be in the sequel.

Summary: The Amazing Action-Packed Comic Book Comes to the Big Screen
Review: This movie is another one of the must-sees on my huge list. The story is amazing and dramatic. There is tons of action. The plot may be a bit simple, but it is epic and will have you on the edge of your seat. After you see this, I assure you, you won't be able to bear the long wait for Spider-Man 2!

Summary: A perfect transformation from comic book hero to movie star
Review: Spider Man is a great movie. It encompasses all the great aspects of the real comic book hero (super strength, webs, alter-ego of Peter Parker, Spider Man's origin, Aunt May, Mary Jane, etc.), as well as Spider Man's most famous enemy, the Green Goblin.
The movie is flawlessly done, complete with stunning special effects, a good story (it's the complete story of the Green Goblin), and the romance between Spider Man and Mary Jane. The scenes of Spider Man swinging between skyscrapers are awesome.

Summary: Not Typical Raimi....
Review: Well, I helped contribute to the millions this film is making by seeing it Twice! Oh well, it is a fun film and everyone I know wants to see it so......Tobey Maguire is great, as usual, as is Willem Dafoe. Even though I'm a huge Kirsten Dunst fan, I thought her performance was a little weak. Her lines seemed to forced and ingenuine. David Koepp's screenplay was also weak in the dialogue department. Pretty corny stuff, even for a 'comic book' style film. The film's animation effects, at times, are so blantantly noticeable, I feel that I am literally watching a cartoon. But overall, it is a fun story and it was entertaining to watch Maguire's discovery of who he has become as it unfolds. *** 1/2 stars

Summary: Overrated film. Though good adaptation of the comic
Review: I have never been a fan of comic books so I guess I was at a disadvantage when I watched this. From what I have seen of Spiderman comis this does do a good job staying true to the spirit of the comics.

So many movies today rely too heavily on special effects. This is definately one of those. Plot exposition and character development come second to displaying great, though overused CGI graphics.

The CGI spiderman jumps from building to building with reckless disregard for any sence of physics of laws of gravity. It looks too fake. You know he's a superhero, but still it looks too cartoonish.

Kirsten Dunst looks great as Mary Jane and Tobey Maguire does a great job as Peter Parker.

If you are a fan of comics and comics turned movies this is a must see, otherwise it probably won't be worth seeing.

Summary: Great Movie...
