Summary: He talked to his team of huskies...
Review: .
as he mushed them through the snow...

Prior reviewers have mentioned that the trailer led some to believe that this is a Talking Dog movie. (Actually, they only talk in a small sequence of a dream.) This Disney movie is better than a gimmicky talking animal flick. Filmed against the stunning beauty of Alaska, it deals, comfortably, predictably - with relationships - inside and outside the family and with the animal world - and is a funny travelogue to boot, including riotous rides on the sled.

Cuba Gooding Jr., James Coburn, Nichelle Nichols, and Joanna Bacalso are well cast. I wish, though, that we could have seen more of Graham Greene, one of my favorite actors.

It's cool fun for the whole family!

Summary: Cute & Pretty Good.
Review: I can't believe this movie got so many bad reviews just because it's not in widescreen. Sure, it's better without the black bars...but we're supposed to judge the MOVIE, not the format. Anyway, I managed to watch the DVD WITHOUT black bars. How? By pressing the "full screen" button on my computer. (Duh, genius.)

My biggest problem with this movie is that the dogs are really not the stars, as was implied in all the publicity. Anyone could have expected a funny movie with talking dogs. This is NOT that, so please, don't expect it! The dogs say a few lines, and ONLY the ones seen on the commercial, and that's all. It's unfair to advertise with the dogs sitting in the beach chairs. That doesn't even really happen. Ted (Cuba Gooding Jr) just dreams it. So that was my one complaint. Other than that it was an enjoyable film. Never laugh-out-loud funny, but a worthy Disney picture.

Ted, a Miami dentist, finds out he's adopted and goes to find his parents in Alaska. His mother died and left him her sled dog team. His father is a legendary scary white guy named Thunder Jack (Coburn). I don't see how there is any bad acting in this movie. Not the best ever. But not bad. And there's a girl named Barb whom Ted falls in love with, and blah blah blah. The ending is typical happy Disney fluff that's unrealistic; in real life Ted would have probably died ten times over. But it's cute and, again, enjoyable. The song "Time, Love, and Tenderness" plays while he gets married.

Nana the border collie who wants to be a lead dog is really adorable. (She gets her wish, too.) She also becomes a mother when Demon, the ornery husky, finally eases up and starts liking everybody (especially her.) All in all, you should see "Snow Dogs." It's a good family film.

Review: My comments are not about the movie but about Disney's apparent decision NOT to release this movie in WideScreen. It is available (so far) in Full Screen only. I left "my" copy on the store shelf.

Summary: Cutest (kid-friendly) Movie I've ever seen in my life!
Review: I rented Snow Dogs a couple of hours ago...and it was great!
Disney is finally making cool movies, it started with Life-Size,
Then came The Princess Diaries, Now comes Snow Dogs! Well,
getting to the movie, First, a Miami dentist's (Gooding, Jr.)
life was going perfect... Now, he is staing face-to-face with
the life he could have, A dog-trainer in Alaska! First, he fails
terribly. Next, He becomes very successful. He is also at
Alaska to find his real father...knowing he's addopted. Overall,
This is a great (Not to mention, an adorable fun movie) that
is suitable for everyone. You have got to get this movie.

Summary: This is a GOOD Movie!
Review: I saw this movie in the theatre and as soon as it was over I was looking forward to the DVD release. This movie is funny and heartwarming. The fast-paced plot is not as predictable as you think it will be. Cuba Gooding, Jr. is perfect for this roll because of all of the physical comedy. A great bonus is the performance of Nichelle Nichols as the mom. The scenery is breathtaking since this movie was filmed on location and not on a sound stage. This dogs are cute, of course, and add alot of humor to the story. One scene near the end is unnecessary--you'll know it when you see it--or I would give this movie 5 stars.

Summary: Yellow Snow
Review: What is Disney thinking? DVD is for the movie lover. The movie lover wants to see his DVD's in the original aspect ratio, not this pan and .... This could have been the greatest movie ever (ok, maybe not) and the DVD would still be ruined by not being in Widescreen. I hope this does not become a trend by Disney or anyone else...as long as its only the lousy movies.
