Summary: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA II ?????
Review: Actually, In all reality this movie was fashioned after the Battlestar Galactica stuff, Star Wars is always the one compared to! Well..STOP IT!

This movie is a refreshing look at how some sci-fi movies used to be, movies shouldnt have to rely on JUST special effects.

Ive never played the games ,but am an avid Battlestar fan, So if you liked Battlestar Galactica ,youll like this film, Besides when Battlestar was released in the theaters it bombed, because it was compared to Star Wars! but the tv show took off!! this movie isnt the fastest paced movie ,but sometimes different is good!

Summary: A waste of my time and money...
Review: There are no two ways about it. This movie is just bad. And I didn't go into it expecting Shakespeare either. In fact, I went in with very low expectations. I often go see Sci-fi movies in the theater to get the S/FX on the big screen and more often than not end up turning my mind off and enjoying the eye candy. But there was something about this movie that just bored me to tears. The only good thing about it is that Jürgen Prochnow (Das Boot) and David Suchet (Poirot from Mystery) are in it. In fact the whole movie is Das Boot in space only... bad...

Summary: The Movie
Review: Wow. Although in some areas [such as the Concordia coming AFTER the Tiger Claw's would-be destruction in the game Secret Missions 2] the movie was inacurate, the special effects and characters were excellent.

Summary: This movie is on my list of the top five worst movies ever.
Review: I saw this movie opening night with a group of about 10 people. By the first 25% of the movie, we couldn't help but crack jokes at it. By the first third of the movie, half the audience was laughing with us.

If you've played the Wing Commander games, do NOT see this movie. It's an embarrasment to the series. The Kilrathi (for the 30 seconds they were in the film) were worse than the animatronics at the older Disney World attractions. The computer graphics were good, but it doesn't matter. The plot was ridiculously weak. The characters were beyond shallow.

Then there's the design. The ship looked like a submarine (does sonar work in space? yet another problem with this movie...), and the "starfighters" looked like WWI planes. The computer systems actually had 5 1/4" disk drives and I could have SWORN they were old TSR80's. That, plus other things like the Logitech MouseMan hooked up to one of the computers (you'd figure they'd be extinct by then).

Finally, I'm not a stickler for real-world physics in movies, but the inconsistencies in WC were just too much to take.

Don't bother with this movie. I plan to buy it, but only to get a group of people together and have a good time making fun of it.

Summary: Is this really Wing Commander?
Review: I mean I saw more special effects (not to mention actual Kilrathi) and talent in the game than in this movie. The kitties looked like statues and stiff. Only through a lot of sequals could this series ever hope to redeam itself. Can't see how Mr. Roberts could imagine this movie would be taken in by the game players of WC3 and WC4. You'll get more enjoyment playing those two games than this movie.

Summary: Rent it, don't buy it
Review: It's easy to tell why this movie didn't last long in the theatres. You can't really blame it on the acting, as the script gives them little to work with. The special effects aren't fully realized and the film doesn't even make good use of of the 5.1 channels of Dolby Digital sound available to it (which can often make an average theatrical performer into a good home theatre flick).

Readers of the Windg Commander novels are likely to be disappointed with the story line, and players of the Origen games would probably like to see more (and better) special effects. The included movie trailer and two TV commercials actually cover most of the best effects in the film.

Buy it if you're a hard core Science fiction flick fan (or a teenage girl in love with Freddie Prinz, Jr.) But it is more of a watch it once and toss it back on the shelve, kind of product.

Summary: WITHIN REASONABLE LIMITS
Review: Whoa folks, take it easy! This film is no one's answer to the original Star Wars, but it is a more than respectable evenings entertainment, particularly if seen on DVD. The characters and situations are not especially original, however Tcheky Karyo is as cool as he was in the original "La Femme Nikita," and newcomer (to me anyway) Saffron Burrows has a nice presence as well. The naval motif is quite refreshing in it's own way and the limits of the script are not so noticable if you put your player on pause every so often and get something cool to drink. An entertaining B-movie.

Summary: Perhaps one of the worst movies of all time
Review: Not only did this movie lack a plot and depth, but was further more boring and long. I went to see this movies in the theaters only to leave half way though crying from laughter at how simply awful it was. I am not a particular gamer buff or sci-fi fanatic but in going to see this movie I was expecting some special effects. You know a spaceship battle or two some aliens, maybe a explosion or two, instead what I got was a plot that was next to random, a handful of characters that were dislikable, and some cheezy love story.

Summary: Excellent! Forget Star Wars, see this movie!
Review: This was a FUN movie! I really don't understand the hostility that other reviewers seem to have towards it. While not a big budget extravaganza like Star Wars: Episode One, it succeeded in the one area that that film failed in. It made me care about the characters.

There are other reasons to like this film though. The costumes were great! The special effects were well done. The music was wonderful, and the general look of the film was *different*. Maybe that's why the other reviewers didn't like it. It wasn't a Trek or Wars clone like so many space movies are today. It created it's own vision of space, instead of following the pack.

Turn off your preconceived notions about what a space movie should be and just enjoy it!

Oh, and just for your information, I've never played any of the games.

As for the DVD itself, this was pretty good. The menus were excellent, but it would have been nice to have some more features. A director's commentary or some real info on the actors & crew would have helped. Also why wasn't this anamorphic widescreen? (I don't have a 16:9 TV yet, so I can't verify this, but the labeling doesn't indicate it.)

In spite of the DVD's minor flaws, see this movie!

Summary: A FUN FILM WITH AWESOME F/X BUT LAME SCRIPT
Review: WING COMMANDER IS A GOOD FILM OVERALL I LOVED THE CONCEPT A MOVIE BASED ON THE GAME I'M LIKE WOW THIS MOVIE WILL BE SWEET RIGHT? WRONG AND RIGHT FIRST OF ALL THE CAST IN IT WAS GOOD BUT IF I WERE IN CHARGE OF CASTING I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN MARK HAMILL TO BE IN IT. BUT WHAT WAS COOL WAS THE DIGITAL EFFECTS AND THE WWII AERIAL STUNTS. BUT WHEN IT COME STO THE STORY IT'S LAME THE CHARACTERS SHOULD AND COULD HAVE BETTER DEVELOPED AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN MORE INTRUIGING IDEAS AND PLOT TWISTS. BUT WHAT SAVED THIS MOVIE IS THE SCORE FROM DAVID ARNOLD AND KEVIN KINER WHICH WAS EXCELLENT THE MUSIC SAVED THE MOVIE FROM BEING A WASTE. BUT KUDOS TO THE F/X AND MUSIC. BUT ONE QUESTION REMAINS WHERE DID CHRIS ROBERTS GO WORNG? I GUESS WE WILL NEVER KNOW.
