Summary: Every way better than Star Wars
Review: This is one of the best movies of this summer(After Matrix of course). It's better than Episode 1 IN EVERY WAY!!!It's lower budget is not a hinder, actually its a good thing,it doesn't rely in FX but characters and storytelling. No stupid CGI characters and no overblown effects.I SIMPLY LOWED THIS.(All you Star Wars fans out there, you are free to send me hate mail)

Summary: I was expecting so much...
Review: First and foremost, I must say that I am a devout fan of the Wing Commander games. Wing Commander 3, 4, and Prophecy are among the most entertaining games I've played.

Chris Roberts dazzled me with Wing Commander 3. The cinematic sequences were well acted, and furthermore, conveyed a great, dramatic plot. You laughed, you cried, it was wonderful. Plus, there was a lot of action. Definitely an adrenaline pumper. I'm talking about the VIDEO GAME, here.

So when the movie was to be released, I was overjoyed. YAY! A full movie done by this guy! What a disappointment.

So many things in this movie disagreed with previously established Wing Commander lore. Angel was British instead of French. Paladin was French(?) instead of Scottish. Maniac was... well, he was blonde. And too damn friendly.

The acting was marginal. The effects were good, but were hardly given any screen time. For a movie which is by definition ABOUT space combat, there were maybe two (short) scenes involving actual dogfighting in space. And what was up with the Pilgrim element? It's like an entire plotline just thrown in. Kinda like putting chocolate sauce in macaroni and cheese. The only difference is that I actually LIKE macaroni and cheese. Not so with this movie.

And, surprisingly enough, the Kilrathi puppets in the video game were more lifelike than those in this "high budget" film. And they acted better, too.

Save your money. Blockbuster's selling this movie for 10 bucks. That should be your first hint. Hell, you can get a decent lunch for 10 bucks. Or a haircut. Or fuel up your car halfway. But don't buy this movie unless you're really into... well, nothing worthwhile comes to mind.

Summary: Why everybody mentions Star Wars????
Review: Ok... I have readed many reviews... Some said the movie sucked, go see Star Wars... There is best SF out there... All kind of junk... First, this movie stands by itself... It's not a copy of Star Wars (And Episode I was a really poor movie). Well, of course, with low budgets, you don't see thousands of computer generated dummies that fight in a senseless movie, and there isn't a new Jesus (Like Anakin Skywalker, born from a Virgin). I have seen the movie twice and I have the video... Has a great presentation where history is told... And impressive sound track, good special effects... Good acting (Not excellent), good story, but a little weak script. But at least a good movie. Only a suggestion... Be carfull with the details in the movie, all are important

Summary: Well. . . . . the preveiw to Episode 1 was good. . .
Review: . . . and that's about it. Well and the special effects. Me and my friends went to go see this movie at the last minute. We saw the preveiws and thought "hey why not?" Well, I found out why! I just didn't care much for this movie. It's like, the whole time I was waiting for the plot to start and when I thought it was, the movie ended. On a low note at that. The acting wasn't horrid but nothing to award. The plot was. . . well like I said, I don't feel as if it ever started. No, this movie hasn't turned me from the games (which I've never played) but has actually inspired me to play the games so that I may find out what the creators had in mind. The special effects were good as I said, though in the dogfight scenes it suffers the same fate as every other sci-fi film in history (except for a few scenes in Star Wars Special Edition). The ships just shoot at each other. There's no evidence of the pilots aiming. So why they have targeting screens is beyond me. Oh well. Doesn't detract from this film since all other films do it too. . . Overall, I've seen better films. But I beleive a film should only get 1 star if I totally hated and despised the film. I by no means liked this film at all, but the acting wasn't completely horrid and the special effects kinda kept me awake.

Summary: Not Great, Not Bad
Review: In all my years of seeing movies(13 years) I have never seen a movie shot down more than this one. But it isn't that bad.

It not the best video game movie of all time. Mortal Kombat is. But the movie had some life to it. Being a fan of movies like Star Wars, Top Gun, Starship Troppers, I though this movie was about two stars less then them(They are all five star movies).

Why did the movie do so bad? Simple:

1) Do adults go to see video game movies? No. 2) People walk in and say "An appetizer for Star Wars", and leave. 3) No big name actors. 4) Movie was too short(Good sci-fi's last 2 hrs). 5) The beginning was a bit boring, which gets people leaving the theatre before the movie gets good. It didn't get good until about 45 minutes through the movie. 6) Matthew Lillard's (Maniac) overreacting to his friend's death.

But I think that despite all of the above, the movie had some life to it, and to be honest, I've seen, or know about, 50 other movies that were worse than this.

Summary: Great study film ...
Review: If you notice anything about the reviews for this film, it's the polarization. Reviewers feel strongly that this is either a great film or a poor one, and almost nothing in between. If you are interested in how a film can evoke such extremes, this is a great film to study.

Summary: What the hell???
Review: This movie is awful. Just awful. The script is awful. The acting is awful. It's awful. And yes, I have played the video game. And all I have to say is this: WHAT THE HECK WAS UP WITH ALL THAT PILGRIM STUFF????? Do future generations a favor and restrain from seeing this. I belive it emits harmful gamma radiation that could promote stupidity.

Summary: Why God? WHY?
Review: This movie is astoundingly bad. If your thesis paper is on the most outstandingly bad movies of the 20th century, then look no further for your #1 example than this. The acting is completely awful, and I truly believe that the script was written by an under-paid poorly trained monkey on heavy medication. Which is what you will need to be on to get through this movie.

Summary: Wing Commader Review--- WONDERFUL
Review: Wing Commader may be a copy of a computer game but i do belive that they did a very good job on making it seem like it was an origaml idea with out straying too far from the plot.

I would suggest this purchase, but would wait until the price is a little more reasonable.

Summary: This movie STINKS!
Review: Let's think about this for a second. Why would somebody make a movie out of a video game? Why not a video game out of a movie. This movie seems to concentrate moreover on the shock value of the tough life in space (suprisingly similar to life on an aircraft carrier. The effects are pretty cool, but they have weird timing. If you want to see a movie with a good plot and great special effects, see The Matrix
