Rating: Summary: If you like the Carib and the 50's..this is your movie! Review: I actually picked this movie when I signed up for that 8 movies for a penny gig. This is a wonderfull movie about teenagers and their exploration of life and how hard it becomes after the "White Squall." Stunning scenary and even better '50-60's' music. Must see!
Rating: Summary: White Squall Review: White Squall is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. I thought that the preformance of Scott Wolf was great. Ryan Phillipe portrayed a perfect Gil Martin. He was such a convincing character. White Squall is an awesome movie and if you haven't seen it you really should.
Rating: Summary: can we say HOT guys??? Review: yeah, it has a good plot, nice story and all, but seeing all these HOT guys in wet t-shirts or no t-shirts at all, need we say more??????????
Rating: Summary: WARNING: RIDLEY SCOTT FANS Review: I'm sorry I didn't like it. I have a REAL PROBLEM with animal cruelty and the scene with the dolphin absolutely repulsed me. Seeing a bunch of pretty boy pubescents torturing a dolphin is NOT MY IDEA OF ENTERTAINMENT. That whole scene should have been cut from the movie. But even that act alone could not save this movie. And who is this Ryan Phillipe character anyways? Every movie i see him in is just plain awful. I call it the Ryan Phillipe curse. I am astounded my favorite director, Ridley Scott directed this movie. I will just pretend he didn't.
Rating: Summary: A refreshing movie about friendship and loss Review: Everybody else has pretty much said what I think about this movie, but I'd like to add that it's an emotional rollercoaster against the backdrop of some of the most beautiful scenic shots I've ever seen. It has to be seen to be believed, in fact, for my Art A-Level, I took some shots from the movie and painted the backdrops. It also details the value of life- not only the tragic wake of the deaths of some of the teenagers- so effectively detailed when the survivors return to St. Petersburg- but about the fragility of animal life, too. The unmerciful killing of a dolphin and the crew's shocked reaction is almost a poignant portent for the tragedy which lies ahead. It is a movie of intense replationships- the Caribbean music and romantic ideals of the 1960s addda certain kind of poignancy to it- watch and see if you don't feel a lump in your throat! I also feel that there should be given a mention to the immensely talented young cast- the hideously under-rated Scott Wolf, Jeremy Sisto, Jason Marsden, and not under-rated but good nonetheless Ryan Phillipe. Kudos to Ridley Scott for carrying the beauty of such a film in his soul and bringing such intense emotions so effectively. Heck, if this can move an 18-year-old, I feel the rest of you have to watch it. To coin a phrase- it's not a movie, it's an experience.
Rating: Summary: what I really thought about the video Review: I think this movie sucked for a simple reason! Ryan Phillippe (Gil Martin) was left behind in the ship and he was killed. I think the best thing about the video was Scott Wolff and Ryan Phillippe with their shirts off, and just them in the movie period!!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the best movies ever. Period. Review: This movie was definitely an unbelievable masterpiece. Somehow, when the movie ends, you can always seem to rewind it and watch it again. What I think makes this movie so great is the attachment you build to the different characters throughout the movie, being ripped away by the dramatic ending. Being a true story, it makes your heart break even more. Personally, as a sailor myself, I think this movie should have gotten a lot more publicity, but hey, it's their loss! Overall, this was a great movie, and I think it really paid off for Ryan Phillippe, Ethan Embry, Scott Wolf, Jeremy Sisto, and Balthazar Getty. I think it's great, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a high-seas adventure. (The guys in it aren't that bad either!)
Rating: Summary: One of the best films ever! Action packed! Review: I think that White Squall is one of the best movies ever. Ryan Phillipe and Scott Wolf were the perfect picks to play the main roles. It tells the story of a group of boys who go on an adventure on an older ship for the summer. They travel the world. The great thing I think about this movie is it is a true example of what friendship really is. These boys come on the ship as total strangers, and end up as friends that would risk there lives for eachother. Belive me if there was ore than a five star rating, White Squall would surley get it! I think anyone who could direct such a wonderful film is a maraculus person with a heart of gold. Thank you, Ridley Scott, for showing the world what a real movie should be!
Rating: Summary: A great well documented film Review: A great movie definently worth seeing. Its well documented, well casted and good acting.
