Summary: better than the hunt for red october!
Review: the hunt.. was good , but this was more excitting to me.denzel is a great actor, and when it comes to being a black military officer, noone is better than he.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very good
Review: A great movie and the sound effects on my home theater system had my whole end of the apartment complex shaking. Lots of suspense and action....another submarine thriller along with Hunt For Red October.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An enjoyable, if predicable thriller
Review: Tony Scott (Top Gun, Enemy of the State) has always made fast action flicks that do not linger long in the memory and he has always been been seen as Ridley's (Alien, Bladerunner, Thelma and Louise, 1492: Conquest of Paradise) shallower younger brother. This film doesn't improve on that reputation, but it is a stylish and suspenceful thriller that updates those of the Cold War. Washington gives another excellent performance as an idealistic young commander who believs that war should be the last resort and Hackman is his usual brillant self as the hard bitten, cynical Captain. The story of the doomsday senario has done before and does blunt some of the tension and the charcters are essentially cliched, but the whole thing is very suspenseful, well made and most importantly entertaining and is among Scott's best work and a rare Simpson/Bruckheimer project where style is equalled by content. Hans Zimmer's score is excellent and there is some impressive diologue to compliment the climax. Jason Robards has an uncredited cameo at the end as as the admiral.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great movie with danger sprawled all over it!
Review: Crimson Tide is probably Denzel Washington's best performance to date. Gene Hackman, as always shows again that he can fit into any role with seamless precision and kick out a top performance. In a crisis situation, involving a coup d'etar in Russia, a nuclear threat looms over continental United States.

How the Captain (Hackman) and the Executive Officer (Washington) of a powerful US Nuclear Sub deal with the crisis at hand in addition to their own little misunderstandings is shot impressively with Tony Scott's inimitable direction.

The theme of a Captain and First Officer, coming from two different schools of thought in a crisis situation isn't exactly original, however Crimson Tide contextualizes it in a very modern and realistic scenario.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: If i could i would give it 3 1/2 stars
Review: The overall story is pretty good, it does have some good subjects, like disobeying a senior officer; who should have the right to decide whether or not to fire a nuclear missle ect.,that are good. Also the acting was very good, but I think what kept it from becoming a great war movie, was, as the other guy said(above), sometimes the writer tried to make it seem deeper than it actually was;all that stuff about the theory, conduct, purpose, and nature of war(accoding to von Clausewitz, who even Bill Clinton could have beaten in a war)got pretty dumb. That and all the stuff about Jack Russel terriers and horses all made it seem like a Patton wannabe movie, and took away from what could have been an even better movie.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: These soundtracks dominate all else!!!!
Review: Both of these soundtracks are awesome, and they are put together on 1 CD. Hans Zimmer's style really shows through in both of theses moving soundtracks. I strongly suggest you buy the CD.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Danny Nucci!
Review: Call me a hormone-crazed woman, but I don't care. All I have to say is hooray for Danny Nucci! He's just the best! (Okay, I realize that this is not a fan club, but a civilized criticism, so...it's just great.)

I like the part where he socks that guy!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A TRUE MASTERPECE
Review: I loved alot of songs on this cd and my favorites were Alabama, Mutiny Isq. But my personal favoriteone was Roll Tide. A true masterpice I wouldn't lie to anyone and recomend this to every one to enjoy.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Intense suspense -- but a Hunt for Red October wanna-be
Review: Certainly a fun film. Great intensity displayed by Washington and Hackman (as always). Smokey scenes with so much beading sweat it makes you squirm. Finger on the nuke trigger; the shoes you never want to be in. Sean Connery ("Nobody") Does it Better in The Hunt for Red October.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A thrilling movie
Review: Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington are the best parts of this movie as their performances lend conviction to the rest of the plot, which is very interesting, too. I, for one, found it hard to believe that even the CO of a sub could bring along his cute puppy, and that detracted from the sense of reality. I served on an aircraft carrier, so I dont know for certain. The action in this movie is terrific and there are no lulls. The morality that each man must deal with is seen quite convincingly on each actor's fact, whether they have dialogue or not. That sells the realism. Another thing this movie brings to light is that there are good officers and bad ones, just as there are good enlisted men and bad ones. The direction is great, the music is great, too (although it did sound more Russian than American) and the acting very good. Actually, I give this movie 4 and 1/2 stars.
